Musapey's Choco Marker
Puyo Puyo Fever
Sega Marine Fishing
Shikigami No Shiro II
The Typing Of The Dead
Virtua Tennis
(no shmup - WTF ?!?)

I know it`s a bit off-topic, but why not just try Dreamcast and Naomi emulators instead? They`ll run on just about any PC these days.

Shikigami no Shiro 3 is a Taito Type-X game, I think.

Not ported from NAOMI, but available for DC and PC alike: Sega Swirl (freeware) and Grandia II.

Yes - also, the original SNS is a Taito G-Net game. It's only SNSII that's Naomi.Jonathan Ingram wrote:Shikigami no Shiro 3 is a Taito Type-X game, I think.

Again, not exactly NAOMI, but Panzer Dragoon port isn't bad. Dunno how Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut fares on PC.

Forth or fifth DC? How hard have you been hammering them?! *touch wood* mine's still going strong after 11 years.
Is the emulation all that solid? I got NullDC running but it wouldn't boot anything
I'd quite like to have a backup option if my DC does fall over.

Can't you just clean the lens?
From earlier Sega hardware, there are PC ports of Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtual-On (with homebrew patches applied they even make use of hardware acceleration; this should allow you to force antialiasing and anisotropic filtering).
Mind you, Virtual-On runs at 60 fps, unlike compromised Saturn port.

Re: Naomi-ports for PC?
I get about 200-300fps with frame limiter off in NullDC. Most of the games I`ve played on it ran without any bugs(Ikaruga, Under Defeat, Zero Gunner 2, Rez, Bangai-O, Jet Set Radio, Senko no Ronde, to name a few). There`s another supposedly very good emulator called Demul that can Dreamcast, Naomi and Naomi 2 games, but I`m not sure how good the performance is since I only use it for Atomiswave emulation.TransatlanticFoe wrote:Is the emulation all that solid? mhn... this kinda goes in the wrong direction...
I will try to ask a better question than the original one:
recommend me some arcade-ports (2000 and newer) for PC outside the ones i mentioned in the first post
gimme some 3D arcade-bliss

Raiden III, OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast.
Not sure if that OutRun will run at proper framerate on your PC (which is rather important if you're after "arcade at home" experience), but Raiden III has fairly modest requirements.
There was a number of "futuristic" racers released for the PC, Power Drome (2004 remake) being the latest I can put my hands on. Moreover, bear in mind that Wipeout 2097/XL for the PC, although released in the last century's late nineties, supports hardware accelertaion (again, you can force AA&FA of quality unavailable back in the day) and outputs resolutions higher than the PSX version. Quite a few arcade-perfect or near-perfect PlayStation ports and arcade style games (Tekken, Ehrgeiz, Tobal 1&2, Starfighter Sanvein) you can emulate on your PC should also benefit from high resolutions, AA&FA. Same goes for the standalone Sega Model 2 emulator (less demanding than DC/NAOMI emulators). Well, Zero Gunner will be still ugly (some games are just like that; think R-Type Delta), make no mistake, but chances are you'll get full speed. Check out this Gunblade NY vid. If you can get down with the looks of emulated Silent Bomber, you're in for some good 3D arcadey fun on your PC (it won't be the same without vibrations and analogue stick, mind you; also, go for the Japanese version as it's import-friendly and has got better voice acting).
P.S. Stuff like iS: internal section doesn't age graphically, does it?

That's not a port, that's just straight up running the arcade software on your PC. And it tends to run like shit I might add.Jonathan Ingram wrote: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift(unofficial)

Re: Naomi-ports for PC?
Frankly, I only read in gaming press years ago about a patch adding hardware acceleration to Virtua Fighter 2. Must be nearly as ancient as the game itself. No idea where you can find it now. I'd ask on dedicated forums. Some VF veterans may know something about it.Specineff wrote:Inquiring minds want to know. Care to point me to one of those patches? The Googles do nothing.
With Virtual-On things are even more cryptic, as Wikipedia article used to claim there was a Japan-only, accelerated (unlike the US release) version of Virtual-On for the PC (AND a dedicated twin stick controller for the PC, no less). Both statements sound dubious, but chances are there was a patch akin to that VF2 one.
I'll say it again - Model 2 Emulator (that's actually its name) is pretty good and uses hardware 3D by default.

It`s a dump of the Taito Type-X game with a loader for PC, yes. It runs fantastically well too.njiska wrote:That's not a port, that's just straight up running the arcade software on your PC. And it tends to run like shit I might add.Jonathan Ingram wrote: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift(unofficial)

Must be your configuration. on either of my PCs it runs like absolute shit. Saw some improvements replacing the backgrounds, but still a very low framerate.Jonathan Ingram wrote:It`s a dump of the Taito Type-X game with a loader for PC, yes. Ah, okay. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll get the emulator, or stick to the PS2 version. The accelerated Virtual On was either a demo version, or a limited edition running on PowerVR cards. I think Sega and NEC made it to showcase what the chip could do, given it would end up being used for the Dreamcast. I know it exists because I saw a screenshot on either Next Generation or GamePro back then.
And because PC Engine Fan X told me so.

I have a feeling Gunblade isn't the same if not played with a huge shaking machine-gun. The sensation you have after a session of it is awesome.Check out this Gunblade NY vid

Re: Naomi-ports for PC?
^^ I can confirm so. I have the Wii Gunblade and L.A. Machine Guns, and the rumble is sorely missing.

HYDRO THUNDER.
Max resolution only 640x480, but on a CRT set to 100 Hz, with forced antialiasing x6 and anisotropic filtering x16, it looks pretty good. Supports analogue joysticks (and joypads), complete with force feedback. Loads much faster than the Dreamcast port. Tested on WinXP.

You've had more luck than me when it comes to NAOMI games, I can't get a single version of Senko no Ronde (and Ive downloaded a few) to work.Jonathan Ingram wrote:I get about 200-300fps with frame limiter off in NullDC. Beyond those though, as a Dreamcast emulator nullDC works pretty damn well, I believe its one of the few that are still updated and runs better for Dreamcast-related games than what Demul did when I tried it last. There are some bugs with stuff like movie cutscenes I've noticed but for more typical Dreamcast games that arent irregular rarities like Segagaga (which was my main test game) nullDC should work perfectly if set up correctly.
