Progear Pachinko.
Deathsmiles H-Game.
No more shooters.

Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

#hubbahubba - surely we'll see the top 3 at some point on the iphone?[Question 27] Tell us which CAVE games you would like to see ported to the iPhone (Multiple selections OK).
Maybe this is the question everyone has on their mind.
Ok, first the Japanese rankings!
1st Dodonpachi Daioujou
2nd Mushihimesama Futari
3rd Ketsui
4th Mushihimesama
5th Dodonpachi
6th Deathsmiles
7th Deathsmiles II
8th ESP Ra.de
9th Akai Katana
10th Espgaluda
Next, the overseas rankings!
1st Mushihimesama Futari
2nd Deathsmiles
3rd Ketsui
4th Dodonpachi
5th Dodonpachi Daioujou
6th Mushihimesama
7th Espgaluda
8th Guwange
9th ESP Ra.de
10th Donpachi
In Japan we had the same results as last time, with Dodonpachi Daioujou on top, and overseas (probably due to the Xbox 360), Mushihimesama Futari at #1. Both overseas and Japanese users picked Ketsui as #3!
Very interesting results for us.

I can just imagine crappy YouTube videos in about 2 years time tops with stuff like "THE HARDEST VIDEO GAME BOSS EVER NOW ON IPHONE".dcharlie wrote:http://caveworlden.wordpress.com/

Hey, maybe they can use that for product advertising?

After reading the updated message, I'm definitely going to be applying for a job at CAVE during the matsuri. My visa is straight, my Japanese is passable, and I've got my finger on the pulse of the foreign shmup community. Dreams can come true, right?

If you can get a job in Cave then connections with the customers will be so much easier for them. You should push that point across as a good reason to get in too.

Re: CAVEs next event...
I hope they continue with the crazy fan service of putting ships/characters of their old games into the new ones. Let's see the DeathSmiles character rooster in ESPGALUDA III. Tyrannosatan turning into a giant cube of "pissing you off-ness" etc.
Also, good luck on that plan, Rancor. This could be you in a couple of years: http://www.cave.co.jp/recruiting/post05 ... index.html

I think you're sorely underestimating the necessity of high level Japanese to work even the most menial of jobs in a Japanese company.rancor wrote:After reading the updated message, I'm definitely going to be applying for a job at CAVE during the matsuri. Well - the job I'm currently at I'm doing well - In a Japanese office. I also applied for and got an offer from Weather News http://weathernews.com/out in Makuhari (The folks that provide weather information to the Wii, as well as other things.) Had to turn them down because they wanted me to move to Chiba, as well as go through 3 months of unpaid "schooling". And the interview was in Japanese, in an office.

I'm not saying it's likely, but I'm also not saying it's impossible. I'm sure you can agree that stranger things can and do happen. What's the harm in trying?

Re: CAVEs next event...
How would DOJ's tap chaining work on iPhone? Your left thumb would be sore in minutes!
Also, the analog control scheme would completely break the scoring. Instant stage-long chaining.
Ketsui would require three hands.

Re: CAVEs next event...
Why? If I were to port Ketsui to the iPhone I would just have the player let go of the screen (one tap) and hit it again to switch from full auto to LOCK SHOT. Or have it constantly in LOCK SHOT as the analogue controls will still give you the "upper hand" of moving quick at will and slow when necessary.Lance Boyle wrote:Ketsui would require three hands.

Occasionally not shooting is a very important thing in Ketsui.

Hehe. Absolutely not. Not my thing.Might I infer from these words of discouragement that you'll be applying too?![]()
Absolutely none... and that's the right attitude to have. But you just gotta remember that unless they're specifically looking for a whitey, they're going to grill you in the interview... and the cultural barrier will probably fuck you way harder than the language one. There's an interesting thread at JREF with a similar scenario, complete with commentary by a gaijin truck driver in Japan.I'm not saying it's likely, but I'm also not saying it's impossible. I'm sure you can agree that stranger things can and do happen. What's the harm in trying?

Re: CAVEs next event...
LOL iPhone. Of course the scoring system has to be revised. The "constantly in LOCK SHOT" idea combined with a more relaxed and perhaps wholly changed chip deployment could be lots of fun. Just award really aggressive play instead, say point-blanking ANYTHING will give you 5-chips or whatever. Trying to recreate the three button experience on a device that first of all have no digital controls is stupid IMHO. Talk about not using the full potential of the analogue controls.Lance Boyle wrote:How do you cease fire?emphatic wrote:Why? Given how high Futari finished on both tables, I think it'd be the more likely candidate over Daioujou.Skykid wrote:When it comes to games the Japanese can't be faulted for taste, that's for sure.

It calls you to aim for 300mil.
It wishes to see you 1CC it with a big score.

The only thing that pisses me off is how you make the run look so... normal. You bomb, you die, you do most of the stuff I do... you get 300mil+.
