Does DS Platinum Hits version have MBL 1.1 on the disc or just MBL?

Apparently (accoring to RS)

"....Featuring three different game modes: Arcade (original Arcade game), Xbox 360 (Arcade conversion) and Version 1.1 (conversion designed specifically for the Xbox 360), Deathsmiles also features a two-player co-op mode, where players can take up the challenge with a friend at home or via Xbox LIVE. With difficulty options on all modes catering for newcomers and veterans, the PAL version of the game also includes the Mega Black Label pack: an expanded version of the game with a range of special features, an additional stage and an extra playable character....."
To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

If you're referring to the japanese re-release then no, it just has MBL.

The UK version has both (from what I've read on various forums etc.)

Out of interest I can't play Mega Black Label on my Japanese version. It's there, but I can't select it. Was it dlc?

Well - I played it today (the PAL version), and to me it seems very close to the Japanese version slowdown wise. Sadly I didn't get to tinker with the menus, but the front end seemed identical to the Japanese version's UI. In fact, they told me they'd kept everything apart from the box art the same. There were translations into English of course (such as the stage names), but it felt very much like the Japanese console release.

The team at RSG are right behind the game, and very enthusiastic, and recognise the challenge they have in getting the finer points of the game across to the mainstream press who will introduce Cave to vast swathes of the public, and it seems that may define not only the success of DS PAL, but modern Cave and STG ports generally in the PAL territory.

One thing I did learn is Cave are very keen to bring more boxed copies of their arcade games to PAL! :D

I'd be interested to know how well the iOS Cave games have sold in PAL territories. Both DFK and ESP2 seemed to get decent reviews everywhere... I wonder if the favourable response and sales has had something to do with it.

Is the translation for the plot the same as the American version?

RSG has apparently changed it because they were appalled by the American one.

Hmm, then I won't have to get a j xbox after all... I got a feeling, ddp resurrection *could* be released in pal territory someday... I cross my fingers for rsg and cave.

Nothing to be impressed. It's quite easy to be appalled by the american translation...

So far it looks like Europe is going to be getting the best version. There are only three (minor) questions left:
1: Will the characters be aged up?
2: Will the game have 1000 or 1500 achivement points?
3: Will the game be called "DeathSmiles" or "DeathSmiles EU"?

1: I'm pretty positive that the characters have all been aged up.
2: Don't know, will check tomorrow if I have time
3: Again I can check this with RSG tomorrow.

They did say off the record that Cave thinks this is the best version of the game. Take that as you like though, as no representative of Cave was actually there to say that ;)

It's certainly looking like a nice pack though and a bargain considering what some places are selling it for.

That's fantastic news. Hopefully the sales of Deathsmiles will be high enough for RSG to release its sequel, Ketsui and Dodonpachi Resurrection BL here in the UK.

This I agree with! I was tossing a sore spot on Cave fanboys the other day about not getting many PAL releases for their oh-so-popular distro sales and should be putting more effort into that area. I'm glad to hear they are listening and keen to meet demand. :D

Here's hoping! I've put off getting a JP 360 for a few years now and if Ketsui and DDPR come this way I wouldn't be bothered by owning a JP one at all.

I actually asked this question, and quite surprisingly the ages remain the same as in the JPN release.

RSG said they want it as authentic as possible.

Yeah, and in Germany and Switzerland, the game will be put on the index because of promoting child-pornography...

On another thought, don't want to open an own thread (yet) for this:

Are there any news available whether RSG has any other STG in the pipeline for us PAL-people? Are there maybe some indications (official or not official) that they have other cave games licenced to be published in PAL-territory? (Yes, DDP Res, I'm looking at you...)

As far as I know they have tweaked the packaging art to tone down that angle. I wish they'd be done with it and up the ages of the characters, dress them a bit more appropriately, and put them in some kind of flying vehicle.

Nah, I bet we get an easy-to-circumvent stopsign, with an assload of text about why playing this game is so raping the children.

Yeah, and change to screen orientation to vertical, change the enemies to some kind of mecha dolls, introduce a chaining-scoring system and...

wait, what?
