Just curious, how long did it take for you MAME players to get 1-ALL? I'm at maybe 12 hours into this game and I'm having trouble just no-missing the first two stages @_@.

EDIT:

Ratikal - 78,498,231 - 1-5 - Tiger Schwert - MAME ( shmupmame )

Ignore the first place score, that's save state training to unlock doom.

Wow, note to self. Before performing a run, practice on Doom. Somehow it makes me hit the first extend before the midboss in stage 2. Near perfect run, only died once with 3 bombs in stock. Still need to practice on stage 3 and 4.

Perfect run up to the big ship in the reverse-scrolling section in 1-5. Completely broke down from there though. :/

Sucky score on a test run, Can't get past 1-3 yet, It was a good run but i lost 3 lifes on stupid deaths while trying to get the extend. I'm merely posting this to motivate miself to beat this score, Let's see how long it takes me to 1-ALL.

Managed to get to stage 4, Looks like bombing isn't actually bad on Ketsui, I'm sure i can do better than this but people around here keep breaking my concentration >_>...

Anyways, I'll keep trying to reach 50mil :P

Ahhh! Finally made it to Cinderella Amber, Man it's quite a different boss than the one in Ketsui: Death Label, I could have done better but i lost 2 lives in stupid deaths.

Looks like getting to Stage 5 isn't that hard after all. But man, the game really gets tough after stage 3.

I was just wondering (I'm not too familiar with all the MAME gaming) - is it even possible to distinguish between a complete run and a score that was achieved by using several save states (like starting stage 5 over and over again until managing the 1cc)?

I never used save states in MAME until today and now I thought it was time to try practicing Ketsui's stages to have the same advantage as the other MAME players. It turns out to be quite handy, but it left a bitter taste. I got 167mio in the first loop before I entered Special Round.
I hope you get my point :?

If you are recording an .inp, loading a savestate made earlier (known as rerecording) won't work.

I got a bitter taste just from reading about it. But hey, if someone is a big enough loser to cheat to be able to post a save state-gotten high score on an internet forum to impress nerds, then let them. :D

Thought I might share this. I just had an almost perfect run up to the 3rd boss when I suddenly died at the final pattern. I never die there, NEVER. Why did it have to happen? -___-

I took a screenshot as soon as I respawned because only the life bar of the boss shows how annoying it really was.
Image
Yes... not a single pixel left.

The run finished at 97mil at the 1st third of stage 5. If only I could be as good again as I was when I did that 130m score... oh dear. But it also seems a little more difficult to dodge the bullets on my 21" letterboxed yoko screen. :?

God, This run was so good until 1-3, I did awesome dodges and stuff, But i missed before getting the extend, Then i did well on survival but once i reached Stage 4 everything went downhill, I've never done such an horrible run of Stage 4, I played like if i had never seen that stage before, I lost 4 lifes, And died after the midboss.

I can do better than this, If i had a bit more concentration i could've reached 1-5...

Whatever, I still love this game

FU** YEAH!

I did finally reach Stage 5! (Which, obviously, raped the hell out of me)

This was my very first Tiger Schwert run, i don't really like that ship but man, The slower movement really helps to get thru of narrow patterns.

Just for fun i did record this run as an .inp file

You can download it here  http://www.mediafire.com/?p017ad7u3qme0yg

That run contains the most stupid deaths ever on stage 3 boss and some lucky dodging on Stage 4.

PS: Will this scores ever be added to the scoreboard?

It's OK to use save states as long as you don't pass them off as valid runs, which I don't think this guy was trying to do. Prometheus suggests using save states to practice (as opposed to restarting failed runs). Now, I was practicing Progear using saves for about a month there, and could have passed off my 35m score as legit, but I'm an honest person, so my crappy 10m score is still up there on the scoreboards.
It would be annoying if someone was passing off a saved run as legit, but I honestly don't think that's what's going on here. He admitted it's a saved run, and he said the run was just "to try practicing Ketsui's stages". Don't go on the offensive, man.
