Gal Gun Demo on Xbox Live

Strange that my search didn't find a thread for this as I could swear it had come up already. Anyways Gal Gun has a demo available on the JP marketplace to Gold members. I just downloaded it and all I can say is, I'm surprised. For a game I expected to be a cheap sex-ploitation affair it's actually quite competently designed. Sure it's easy and it would play better with a real light gun, but it's still competent, classically designed rail shooter with high school girls and some visual novel style elements. Gameplay is split between story scenes where I have no idea what's going on, but you make selections, and shooting scenes. For the shooting scenes the game scrolls along on a rail, ducking in and out from cover as you try to avoid the girls attacks. Occasionally you'll hit them in the right place at the right time for a one shot kill.

Wish i could understand japanese so i knew what the hell was going on in the mini games, but otherwise it's a hoot. Strangely I can't find a way to refine my aim and move the cursor slower aside from zooming in.

I played for an hour or two last night and had a blast. The only thing that seems a little weird is the Doki Doki mode, cause I've filled up the gauge entirely and "finished" DD mode, which took about 3 minutes to max out (seriously,) then the girl just gets the outline of a heart around here and falls down, then you re-gain a bunch of your life meter. Just seems like a pretty weird, roundabout way to replenish some of your life. What ever happened to health items?

Anyway, the story is absolutely fucking hilarious if you understand what's being said and make the right choices in the dialogue sections, and the game is a ton of fun. Load times are atrocious, though I'm kinda used to that after a few certain Japanese games. I can't wait to have this at my door on the 27th.

It's a bomb. If you complete Doki Doki when there are a bunch of girls on screen the heart clears them all out. Try holding R to get a more powerful shot and finding the right spot on the girl. This will help you fill the gauge much quicker.

Ah, I never paid a whole lot of attention to the text on the screen during those segments, I didn't know it was meant to get rid of multiple girls at once. That makes sense.

Don't know if you heard, but the devs promised 5 sec loading times in the full version compared to the 20-25 sec loading times in the demo! \o/

Still haven't downloaded the demo, I'm afraid it's too text-heavy for me and my non-existant Japanese skills.
