Strike Force (Midway, 1991)

Post by maxlords »

Anyone know much about this one? I managed to pick up a copy of it with PCB, sound board, and volume pot (and maybe the side art...not sure). I can't seem to find much of anything on it other than the youtube playthrough that's linked on klov. Looked like a manic version of Defender.....damned neat. I'm surprised I can't find more on it...figured you guys would have had this one through it's paces :)

Anyway, if you've played it....please discuss!

Yes I have the board. We used to play it in the arcades also. Williams Defender  Stargate  Strike Force.

One time we were playing it in the arcade and some bug gave us about 8 extra lives.
Its pretty fun.
Wise to conserve your ammo and use it in the right places.
Never 1CC'd it, but my friend KAC Counter Stopped Stargate for sure and maybe Defender too. I also know another guy called John who Counter Stopped Defender. He's still around and recently got an unofficial WR on Lady Bug in Casino Arcade London. But I'm starting to digress now....

It's just occurred to me that there really are a LOT of games with "Force" at the end.

Thunder Force...Strike Force...Ocean Force...

T-T-T-T-TURBO FORCE! *BEWWWWWW*

Seriously though, I should check this out. :D

That game's cool. I found it in the late 90s in the back of a pizza place in Davis, CA.

I have this PCB, mostly as a curiosity since I already have Stargate and SmashTV, so this lovechild was a no brainer. I haven't played it in a long while, but remember the controls being a bit weird to get used to, otherwise a fine Williams style shooter.

I loved that game- its great- one of my favourites!!

I used to put a load of 10p's into it when it was in the Big Apple arcade in Glasgow (sadly gone now) -

Its a really great fun game - great fun with two players too.
The nearest I get to playing it now is through MAME- so I'm pretty jealous you've got the original board.

I remember this. Really stood out for it's hyper-colourful, high-res graphics which I could never quite figure out - they seemed like they were partially claymation or prerendered at times, though maybe I was just associating it with Trog.
The commandos are a cool thing, how they fetch your pickups and will actually go towards your ship instead of needing to be picked up pixel-perfect.
Was just playing and I think I can add Strike Force as another game with helicopters in space - the moon-like planet has a whole bunch.
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.
