I'll have to shuffle my vacation days around, but I doubt my boss will have a problem with that, especially this far in advance.

That should be fine for me, I hadn't even requested off work yet. The only potential problem would be school, but it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Is this open to anybody?

I suck at all of the games, probably couldn't bring anything useful, and I don't know anybody in person, but it sounds like it could be fun!

Open to anybody and everybody, I'll be glad to have you.

On another note, the old school love will be in full effect - should also have a DK3 cab for the meet as well if all goes according to plan. Same! Same! Same! is also in the hizzy.

Sounds fantastic. I expect I'll be there. 50% chance on my wife coming along too.

I'll be passing through Wisconsin. Any players in the Western Upper Peninsula or Eastern Wisconsin who want to carpool, PM me.

EDIT: Please disregard any talk of car-pooling. I do not believe I can go.

Just in case anybody is interested, I'll be bringing SEVERAL of my custom built arcade sticks.
I'm trying to clean house of my older "display models"...

I'm aiming for cash, but I'm totally down for trading too - for reference these sell for $300+

Here is a picture of my personal stick...no I'm not selling THIS one :)
Specs:
-Full multi-console (PS1\2\3, Xbox\360, Gamecube\Wii, Dreamcast, PC, etc.)
-Markertek CAT6 port for detachable cables
-Seimitsu all the way including an LS-40-01 w/ custom gate + spring mod
-Sanwa meshtop
+ a plethora (A PLETHORA?) of custom cables

Image

Looking forward to the meet - hoping somebody brings an OG Espgaluda PCB...I'm getting close to the 1cc...close

Wow, thanks guys!

I'm totally stoked about the meet, and I love showing off my work - I'll make sure that several of my sticks are available for play that weekend.

I have a MASSIVE post over in the Custom Sticks thread that is essentially every stick I've built in the last year or so (Link: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... tt#p617685)- if anyone is interested in seeing the other stuff. I think the Hello Kitty stick is my best work yet in terms of raw aesthetics (Link: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... ty#p632391)

Anywho...back to work.

Later!

Drboom, does People Play Games still have that Vectrex? Wonder if my Genesis collection would be enough in credit for most of it...

It's not looking like I'll be making it down this year. If things change around again I can always snag a last minute train ticket though. Hopefully I'll be able to do gunbird's meet in the summer, as long as it's after May I should be able to make it.

I may not be able to show up now, unless I dig us out of 2 feet of snow by March.

@ tOyorobo - it'll suck if you can't make it for sure - let me know if things change.

@ gunbird18 - ha! Shit is SERIOUS out here in Chicago right now. Four feet drifts in the streets, Wrigley Field roof coming off in HUGE chunks onto Clark street - making it all the way across the parking lot! Had Kuma's tonight with some people from work and drove all over Chicago in this - four-wheel drive is a great thing. Brutal now though - you'd lose you kids in one of the drifts out here!

Yeah, it is not playing around down here either. Biggest storm I can remember in years! All businesses are closed and they shut down our warehouse for 2 days and that kills them to do that!

Oh well, more shmups and pinball for me!!!

Quick update - got mame running the latest version of Shmupmame with DOJ BL and Ketsui installed. Pretty awesome - although I am still continuing my quest for a BL pcb...

I have a snazzy portable MAME setup with a *special* version of shmupmame...

I planned on dragging it out.

Ketsui, Garuda, DOJ+BL, all the other Cave\Raizing\etc..

EDIT: Just preordered MMP\Pink Sweets combo...region-free...paid for 3 day shipping...should arrive in time.

Just so there's gonna be one or two Cave games there, right?

Dang! A $20k raise? I barely even make that much. Go nuts though, you only live once!

I've heard that the Akai Katana non-coin LE version is better than the original if you are planning to pick it up.

Do iiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Also, still waiting to see if I can get off work, what day were you planning on heading up there then coming back, Matskat? I was thinking of coming up to STL, then hitching a ride with you the rest of the way
if possible.

Hahaha! Akai Katana! A measly $3000! Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu....

Looks like I'll be getting either Mushi and ESP Ra.De. OR Garuda 2 and Final Fight...can't decide yet. I was REALLY looking at DFK, but I can't get my head around being so spendy. I'll buy DOJ before I spend 1500 on DFK....

@ Drunkninja : Dude that's cool with me. I MIGHT also be getting a BIG ASS suite at Embassy Suites @ N. State & Ontario.
I get a mad discount with Embassy, and the rooms are huge. Anybody who doesn't want to crash on Dr.boom's floor can throw down a few bucks and stay at the Embassy (full breakfast every morning, free booze every day from 5-7)

I'll be driving up on Friday morning. Probably leaving STL no later than 9 or 10 am.

I'd love to have some company driving up. Caldwert might ride too.

Be in touch with me. PM for my cell number and personal contact info, etc.
