This is why PCSX2 is actually useful as an emulator.gavin19 wrote:Unfortunately those coming late to the game and playing Espgaluda (and the rest) on Mame are missing out on the best bit, Arrange Mode. The scoring is already fun as it is but in Arrange it's visually much more rewarding and challenging. Shame that mode wasn't added to the PCB like Black Label DOJ

And everyone says how easy this is.
Not for me.
Reinforces the fact that I'm not that good at this genre but boy I love playing it.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I haven't even beaten the stage 4 boss yet (with a measly 11mil). Haven't put a whole lot of time into it yet, though. But from all the talk I figured I'd at least be a little better than thisTigershark wrote:And everyone says how easy this is.

This feels like an incredibly silly question to ask... but how do I get out of the test menu for this game in shmupmame? It comes up automatically whenever I load the rom and selecting exit just brings up a screen that flashes to please turn off a dip switch.

Same here, but I still say it's easier compared to some games (you're looking at a guy who started shmupping with Raiden Fighters 2000 here, not that I'm any good at itAnesthetize wrote:Don't worry, you're not the only one. I really should practice more with ESPGaluda though, since it's the only PGM game out of the three major releases that will run at something playable on my legacy machine. DOJ is annoying and Ketsui is just unplayable.

Press tab, go to Dip Switches, and turn the Service Mode one off when you're on the flashing screen.username wrote:This feels like an incredibly silly question to ask... but how do I get out of the test menu for this game in shmupmame? Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Thanks, Ghegs.
Good riddance to david peterson.
I'm getting closer to reaching Jakou on 1 credit. My last run was about 26M. I'm going to try to 1-life all the way there, since those reserves will come in handy against Jakou. Hanging onto 4-6 lives should give you a fair shot at him, even if you use Barrier from time to time. Running EspGaluda in PCSX2 does require a newish computer. Taito G-Net ports will do fine on an XPS 210 (Psyvariar and XII Stag are fine) but it can't quite handle Cave PS2 titles. I'll try this on my newer Win7 box sometime.

Well this is awkward. Thanks guys who was sort of a jerk and got banned as a consequence of answering my question. Also thanks null for the alternate solution and not being a jerk.

Well, F2 was an incorrect answer to your question, as you have to press TAB then go into DIP SWITCHES and turn the top one OFF. But he was "just trolling".username wrote:Well this is awkward. Reminds me of a beautiful day in forum history (I still have a screengrab somewhere).david peterson wrote: Yes , although it lacks impact on the knitting forums.
Anyway - good riddance.
On the subject of Espgaluda (and the other recent additions) on MAME - suddenly my work mates are aware of it, and asking me questions about Cave. It might do a great service to promoting the genre a little. Might even do Cave some good in the long run.
