Honestly it'd be nice to see home-use versions sans coinage options (freeplay only) if they could be made at a somewhat lower price. These would probably be limited in number though ala NGHC titles.
It's a commercial item basically - the normal laws of prices and so on simply don't apply - they're just not designed for home sales, but for people who make money from them. It would be interesting to know how much it costs to make them, including employee wages, so we could work out if they make much money. I'd think home versions would only increase the manufacture cost - there's no extra expense in supporting coin input. Of course, while they're charging a fair commercial price, they could never sell cheaper to individuals anyway, as the operators would buy those boards and hack them to take coins even if they didn't before.

On Topic: I'm curious to hear what Icarus and the other (if there are any) people that bought the board. I hate ranking though. The only game I like w/ it in there is Border Down, and even that doesn't make me pull my pants down.
Ehr, no, you like Esp.Galuda which has ranking too, like all shmups with score i think.Maybe you meant rank?Same thing, Galuda has it, Ketsui too, all Cave etc. Sorry for being nitpicky.

Beside that, i suppose it works more like Bakraid, i.e. rank is strictly related to score...like Galuda too. I wouldn't be surprised, i'd add.

Okay, lemme rephrase that for you nitpickers. I don't like such a steep ranking curve... especially one that encourages suiciding. Ketsui, ESPGaluda, etc. have ranking, but the alternate patterns are just different, not necessarilyi harder.

Don't pay no mind to Rando, he doesn't understand that life is precious, and should never be intentionally wasted.

Bad (and illogical) trolling (well, as always).

I'm curious though, RFK, have you observed random changes of patterns on bosses, or also abrupt changes of speed in the bullets? In both senses i mean, cases in which bullets were going very fast and after dying, they slowed down a lot...

Hello. I played this for the first time today, it was REALLY hard. I got to the second level boss and died a lot.

I didn't like the game at all. The graphics are really muddy and it's very difficult to discern the enemy shots from power ups (although I did find myself getting used to it.)

My problem is that I've been playing too much Mushihimesama, it makes most other shooters look really bad.

RFK- Nice 1cc! Do you live in Japan or own the PCB?
Currently playing: Mushihimesama, Sam Sho 0 special

Hi !

I live in Austria; i own the pcb.

The game is very hard if you play it the first time. The key to sucessfully beat the game is how you handle the boss fights.

You must earn a lot of super smartbombs, or you can dodge bullets like the superhero of shmupping CLOVER TAC.

On the first look it seems like a raizing game with no cave ganmeplay element.

But thats NOT true !
The collissiondetection is very similar to other cave games.
The wings of your plane cannot be damaged, so you have to focus to the middle part of your plane...and as i pray every time and time again: Dodge as much as you can (forget about chaining, quick shooting etc.)...

The next very important thing:
DONT collect the heavy weapons like the rocket launcher or the burner.
The ranking system will increas, and the game will get very difficult.

DONT use the bomb in the levels. Only use super smartbombs at the bossfights.
And make sure you hit em right, cause he *pardon SHE* will get very angry.

Graphic:
I must says, that Ibara is one of the finest pieces of art in the history of shmups. And i really dont have any problems to realise whats an enemy bullet and whats a powerup item.

*beware not to activate the extended modus or the harder modus* this will activate additional RED bullets, and those are really badass bastards.

My Ibara kit arrived today! YAY! (Along with Psyvariar Complete Capture Box, Mushi LE and Twinkle Star Sprites PS2 :P)

Image

The PCB is a lot smaller than what I had expected. It's tiny, only marginally bigger than an ST-V cart.

Impressions to follow soon.

The B1 size poster was shipped seperately, it should be arriving soon :)

All I need to do now is find a way to record a bit of footage and I'm set. Previous tests with my supergun show that my DC30+ hates the output from any PCB, so i'll have to dig up an old RGB card to see if that works.

Ok this is ANOTHER masterpiece from Cave. After playing it for a couple of hours and I can say that this is without a doubt THE most beautiful 2D shooter that i've ever played and I've played a lot. The design of the enemies are really something to behold.
Believe the hype this is hard. The action is very frantic the explosions a pyrotechnic delight. It IS Battle Garegga 2, but with a lot of Cave style bullet paterns. At first the bullets were quite tricky to make out amid all the debris, but you do get used to it and after an hour it just wasn't an issue. If I died it wasn't because of the dreaded invisible bullet syndrome, it was because i'm crap.
I think this game is fantastic, HOWEVER if you don't like Raizing's games, then I don't think I can really recommend it. Ibara is brutal, deep and hugely rewarding, but it is very Raizing and not like your typical Cave game at all. I think I can safely say that when I get round to reviewing this on Plasmablossom, it'll be a 9 going on for 10. :D
Ikaruga review now up in PLASMA BLOSSOM

Awesome work, Kirkov! :)
If you like Battle Garegga you have to buy this game. BTW: I "hate" Garegga :D ...ok i dnt really hate garegga (i really like bakraid btw and batriders is one oft the best shooters out there...ahemm...ok back to the topic).

In my opinion this game is like battle garegga 2. It seems that is was programmed from the raizing team.
That's a bit of a relief to read. I still haven't gotten the rank down in Garegga but it is still one of my fave shmups of all time. Only 'till Mushihime came along it was my 2nd fave next to Radiant.
