Did you try browsing manually to the rom folder from "Options/Directories" then hitting F5? AFAIK, missing/bad roms or an incorrect rom path in the .ini file is quite common for some reason.exquisite_torture wrote:Thanks emphatic, I forgot about that. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked. I've got Espgaluda and Ketsui all from the same source which aren't showing, so I've downloaded some older roms and these aren't showing either. I haven't used MAME since Win XP days and now I'm wondering if there's some sort of issue with MAME roms and Win 7?

No, you're just doing it wrong. Make sure your paths are set properly. Then, click file->audit all roms. Click All Games (or whatever it's called) and browse to the game you'd like.exquisite_torture wrote:emphatic wrote:After you have created a "roms" folder in your MAME directory, run your MAME exe and press F5 to refresh your game list.exquisite_torture wrote:Thank you for your speedy reply, but there aren't any relevant options.

OK, I don't remember having to do that before, but that didn't work. The recent roms (Ketsui, Espgaluda) didn't show in the audit, the older roms (G Darius, Gradius) showed as incorrect when audited.
Oh well, I only wanted to try Ketsui. Suppose I'll just bag a Japanese Xbox. The DS rom of Death Label doesn't really 'cut it', being just a boss rush thing.

You should probably buy an XBOX 360 to play it legally but make sure you're using the right version of mame, have proper roms, and have put them in the right place. If it's working wrong, maybe shake your computer a bit and drink a cup of coffee and it should work.exquisite_torture wrote:OK, I don't remember having to do that before, but that didn't work. In your original post you said the only game showing up was "the default Pong", which suggests you're using the older MAME Pro build, which is not only archaic for more 'newer' games but also will NOT run Ketsui.exquisite_torture wrote:OK, I don't remember having to do that before, but that didn't work. Either get Shmupmame v2.2 or get MAMEUI .141 (previous instructions given to you seem to assume different variations of MAME so best be getting the version everyone knows about).
Depending on the age of the ROMs you may have naming issues and missing EEPROMS too, let me know if this is the case.

No need for the apparent attitude. I'm using the 99 version of MAME posted in this thread by the guy who modified it.captpain wrote:You should probably buy an XBOX 360 to play it legally but make sure you're using the right version of mame, have proper roms, and have put them in the right place. I downloaded the roms from a seemingly reputable site and I'm simply curious as to why they wont work. Thanks for posting like a cunt, though.

That version doesn't support ketsui / galuda / DOJ (yet).exquisite_torture wrote:I'm using the 99 version of MAME posted in this thread by the guy who modified it.

Ah, OK. I kept getting a dead link when trying to grab Shmup MAME from earlier in the thread.
Anyway, thanks to Clessx who uploaded his/hers for me.

Hey, look, I tried to joke around with you but my post actually elicited the information needed to fix your problem so why don't you try being a little more lighthearted next time

Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
This is interesting. I would love to play DOJ and Espgaluda on this, but for some reason as soon as I am in the game the keyboard does not seem to work. I can not insert credits or get to the TAB menu :/
Anyone got a clue?

Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
Yes, that was the first thing I did.
I can get past the Warning screen by doing the left/right maneuver with my joystick. But the keyboard does not react to any response :/
EDIT: It was Comodo Security Suite. I updated it earlier and because I had not restarted yet it did not ask what to do with Shmupsmame once I started it. So it seems it partially blocked input. Fixed now. whee

ESPGaluda, DDD and Ketsui are working fine here. (Mod edit - NO SHARING ROMS, LINKS TO ROM FILES, ROM SITES, OR ANYTHING THAT COULD REMOTELY BE CONSTRUED AS COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT) At 60hz they run silk smooth. No, I don't mind them running a little faster. I also overclock the CPU to get rid of slowdowns.

Anyone? The v2.2 sources don't compile with 0.140 OR 0.141. I'm guessing I'm meant to use u2 or u3?
edit: Okay, should've read the thread thoroughly...

People. Read the Forum Rules. Any links, references, questions and subtle hints on how to acquire roms will be deleted on sight and if we see members doing it constantly, we will simply and unceremoniously ban those members.Elaphe wrote:ESPGaluda, DDD and Ketsui are working fine here. I'd like to see you in the position of one of the board-admins... Anything that could remotely lead to being sued has to be avoided. I consider this common sense...
Or, you're just out there, trollin'...
