Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
I've noticed the process issue on my legacy machine with Shmupmame 2.2 doesnt seem to happen on my Bootcamp setup in the living room. They're off the same install CD though the Bootcamp setup is considerably more updated. Maybe just put the computer through a Windows Update session, something like that could do it I suppose.
Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
I have reached a point in my life where I am excited about the upcoming release of a custome MAME build, and it's time I accept that

I'm willing to bet it's this:Zeron wrote:Gahh I cannot wait for 3.0

Because I'm 16 and I know Raiden II is never going to be playable in MAME during my lifetime.david peterson wrote:Just to let you people know it will be running at 100% speed with all the sprite issues fixed in the next mame releaseand if you arnt familiar with this game get involved it really is amazing .

Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
After some fiddling about I got Black to run and promptly scored 29 million. Given that my PS2 high on DOJ was only around 9 million, I was happy with that.
Except when I restarted, no high score saved
I have hiscore enabled, and have a hiscore dat (latest version). Do I need anything else to ensure my scores are saved? I didn't check Ketsui or Galuda but I'm assuming they didn't save the scores either.

Hiscore.dat does not yet support these titles.

Damn... I just wanted to ask about this... :Sbcass wrote:Hiscore.dat does not yet support these titles.
So ShmupMame doesn´t support the hiscore.dat? There no way to use it with this ShmupMame version? :S
Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
Its not shmup mame that does not support hiscore.dat its hiscore.dat that has not been updated with these new games.nahucirujano wrote:Damn... I just wanted to ask about this... :Sbcass wrote:Hiscore.dat does not yet support these titles.

Input files are a much nicer record of your best scores anyway !gavin19 wrote:After some fiddling about I got Black to run and promptly scored 29 million. Given that my PS2 high on DOJ was only around 9 million, I was happy with that.

oh, I see... But for so many other games yes, does it?Zeron wrote: Its not shmup mame that does not support hiscore.dat its hiscore.dat that has not been updated with these new games.
I would like to save my scores of ESP Ra De, Puzzle Bobble Series, Tetris Grand Master 2, DoDonPachi, Magical Drop Series and so many other games... So...
There is some tutorial or something? I don`t know how to use this file. And I don`t know what other tools I need to succesfully use it either... There is some good tutorial?
Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
Put the hiscore.dat file inside your mame folder.

I always have a savestate dedicated to the highscore screen and save them that way. I just need to remember to load that state before I do a serious run and save again after I put in my initials. I never knew about the Highscore.dat, I just do it like that for all games.

Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
Does anyone have the sources or source updates for 0.140u2 or u3? I'm trying to build on Ubuntu, and the shmupmame patch doesn't work with 0.141 (fails at mame/video/cps1.c, which has been changed from C to C++). All I can find on mame.net is 0.140.

That's how you're meant to do it these days.Frederik wrote:I always have a savestate dedicated to the highscore screen and save them that way. Unless you have a hiscore.dat (that works for the game in question).

Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
It's still the way you're MEANT to do it these days, as recommended by MAMEdev etc.bcass wrote:Unless you have a hiscore.dat (that works for the game in question).
Hiscore.dat is considered an unsupported hack.
Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
Nobody listens to MAMEdev when it comes to what people consider to be "useful" features in MAME. Does anybody even use the official version anymore? I thought everyone just used it as a base to compile the actual versions people use, like MAME32 Plus, etc. Messing about with save states just to save your hi-scores is dumb. Far more convenient to have hiscore.dat automate it all for you.
Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
All true. After all, MAME is about keeping stuff as it really works, and not as what is convenient for people who go "who-hoo, free games off the internet".IseeThings wrote:It's still the way you're MEANT to do it these days, as recommended by MAMEdev etc.bcass wrote:Unless you have a hiscore.dat (that works for the game in question).

If everyone stuck to the MAMEdev brief, you wouldn't even have auto-fire in games, never mind automatic hi-score saving...

We used to not. Why do you think that changed?

Re: Shmupmame v2.2, lagless Ketsui, Doj and Doj BL
Does anyone know where I can find Lagless Mame 0.99? Seems like the later ones don't support save states in DDP.

Found a solution to this problem, and it was actually pretty simple...Drachenherz wrote:Ah, yes, this message... Because of this error, I had to switch to the regular version of 99. I need my savestates in EspRa.De. in order to make better progress.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:I wonder what causes laggless99 to not work (ie that app wont start 0x0000005 thing). In the past rebooting win7 fixed it but now it point blank refuses to work, shame
Using Shmupmame Lagless 0.99 in Win 7 led to the aforementioned error.
Okay, I tried the compatibility mode, used Win XP Service Pack 2 Settings for the compatibility mode of the mame.exe file and voilà: A working lagless shmupmame 0.99 for me!

It has been a while since I used MAME, so please forgive the retarded nature of this post.
As far as I can remember the roms remain zipped and placed in a roms folder?
I don't see a roms folder in this release and when I create one and paste the roms to it MAME doesn't see them, only the default Pong.

Yes, you are right, you can keep the roms as zips.
Create a "roms" folder in Mame, and then go fiddle in the optionsmenu (I think it's called "default options" or something like this), tell mame in what folder to look for the roms.

Thank you for your speedy reply, but there aren't any relevant options.

After you have created a "roms" folder in your MAME directory, run your MAME exe and press F5 to refresh your game list.exquisite_torture wrote:Thank you for your speedy reply, but there aren't any relevant options.

Thanks emphatic, I forgot about that. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked. I've got Espgaluda and Ketsui all from the same source which aren't showing, so I've downloaded some older roms and these aren't showing either. I haven't used MAME since Win XP days and now I'm wondering if there's some sort of issue with MAME roms and Win 7?
