Should be digging my claws into this tasty looking game this week (and a demo of Garegga :) )

I was wondering why I never heard people mention this game much here, but elsewhere people call it the 2nd best saturn game. The MAME problems must have been it. Hopefully everyone will hop on and start playing this, like they were supposed to with Raiden III :P

Yeh its great news for people like myself who have only played the ps1 port which whilst gives me a taste for the game it really does clearly pale in comparison to the saturn and arcade original.

Oh, so it was just a problem with MAME? I thought it just meant my computer was crap.

Yes ive been told its basically due to the complexity of the stv , the speed issue was fixed in 2008 and i came across this sprite issue last week , try for yourself in either shmupmame or mame 140 basically its fine until stage 3 then you get masses of sprite probs and the whole of stage 4 is borked background wise .

Already worked great in SSF but this is really great to have it running in MAME also!

another shmup I've always wanted to play is coming to mame? sweetness! The music is really quite good and the videos I've seen make this look like a really good shmup. wonder why nobody talks about it around here.

It is a pretty good game, but that's nonsense, taking in account that the Saturn has gems like NiGHTS, Psychic Killer Taromaru, Exhumed, Amok, Daytona USA CCE, all those Capcom and SNK 2D fighters, the Panzer Dragoon series, Radiant Silvergun, Layer Section, Guardian Force, Batsugun, DoDonPachi...

I'm sorry, I meant to say 2nd best saturn shmup, not game. My bad, that would be quite silly

This is one area where the Saturn definitely had a leg up on the Playstation -- it got CPS-2 ports that were virtually arcade-perfect while the PSX ports were adequate at best, with some being utter crap (X-Men Vs. Street Fighter is a notorious example.)
Of course now you can emulate CPS-2 games on a netbook (or, hell, probably even your phone) so there's no reason to care about the ports anymore.
