London Meet MMXI (Fri 22nd Apr to Sun Apr 24th)

Might as well make this somewhat official. Got another London Meet planned, with tentative dates of between Friday 22nd Apr to Sunday 24th Apr, most likely the Saturday 23rd for the main day, with some mini hookups before and after. Been a while since we've had a big meet, so lets get planning! International visitors always welcome, as usual, and hopefully we should have some good games in the Casino to rock on.

UK peeps should consider booking tickets well in advance, as they're at their cheapest a few months before travel date.

A few interested parties already in the main Casino thread. Anyone else for a decently sized hookup in Easter?

That's why it's announced now, so people who have to travel long distance can weigh up their options for travel and accommodation, and perhaps book in advance so they know they have everything ready. ^_-

In terms of accommodation, there are places in Paddington that are quite affordable. I've stayed in the area numerous times over the past few years, and a room for a whole week rarely exceeds £150 - if you're only coming for a few days, it'll be much cheaper. Either that, or hole up in a hostel in King's Cross area or others for even cheaper beds. Or split the cost of a room with a friend.

Would be good to meet you for the first time, Mr. DDP/Guwange Legend.

Great! let us know when you;re in town and we'll arrange a welcoming committee! We'll probably great you as you step off the plan, shake hands for the press, get you to make a small speech from a lectern to the crowds, and then whisk you away in a limo with bullet proof glass.

Sounds good! think I'll stay at yours too. Not sure if to come up on the Thursday if that's okay, since Friday would be a bank holiday, and extend the meet some.

Yep, looking good already. My friend Raven and I (some of you have met him at IC '09) have our accommodation booked already, and will be getting our tickets in mid-Jan when they are available to buy, so we're definitely coming down for the meet. We'll be down on Wednesday, doing our usually gallery and museum tour for a few days, then will come and make ourselves at home in front of the Mushi Futari cab, lol.

For those of you looking for a place to stay, we usually book our hotels through http://www.hotelclub.com/ which has good rates for everything. Again, Paddington area seems to be the best for rates - our room is a twin room for 5 nights at £120 per person. I'll be even cheaper for those only down for a couple of days, so give it a look. There are hostels all over the city for backpackers that'll do beds for even cheaper, if cost is a minor issue.

Don't know about that, the camera always makes me look fat. It would be awesome to meet you guys at the casino arcade though, I'll post in the thread as soon as I know the exact date for our visit.

I'd very much like to be sitting on a beach somewhere in April, sipping Pina Colada's and earning 20%, but in the event I'm still in fucking England, I'll be there.

In my proposed long term absence, I'm considering asking Will to act as a surrogate mother to some of my PCB's so that Casino can have shmup replenishment properties while I'm gone. I'd rather they were used than left in storage, so it might be worth organising.

That's a lot of games. But is it legal to run those boards in an arcade that charges for credits?

DEL, remember me saying about those things that have DP/DDP on 1 Life and very hard/hard.. well its that same one also they fill the a yoko screen on tate games, and they are slow on new games. I would guess there is better things out there too.
But I'd like more games..

^Thanks for the heads up Smraedis. Real shame that they are set wrong and have bad slowdown. Are there any other multigame pcbs on the market that are set well and run at normal speed?

@spadgy - Yeah its legal. The Govt only checks the fruit machines upstairs anyway. John has had at least 3 multigame pcbs in before.

Personally, I think it'd be great if we could get Xexex and Akai Katana in for the meet: most people (including me) have only played the PSP port of Xexex, and it'd be great to experience it with proper controls and a decent screen, especially since it's so pretty. As for Akai Katana, I think 99% of everyone attending will be a big Cave fan and would love to get a chance to play it.

Right you are DEL, I moved to London quite recently so I haven't been going to Casino for that long. It's a shame nobody liked Xexex when it was in there, even if it was the Intl version.

Agreed. Let's veto my Xexex suggestion, but I still think it'd be awesome to have Akai Katana if possible.
