I need a way to play my classic games on a modern TV. I got a bunch of new SNES games yesterday and they look pretty bad due the the upscailer in the TV. Ideally I would like an upscaler that would do a clean scale something like we see in MAME. I don't know why it is so hard for TV manufacturers to simply offer a 1:2 (1 pixel of 480i/p = 2 pixels of 1080i/p) in a letterbox mode. My theory is if I can find a video device that does a clean double pixel scale ny TV won't fiddle with the image too much. Mario Kart looks HORRID and messy Metriod makes Samus cry.

I like pixely for my classic games. High def pixely is fine by me!

I guess you're out of luck unless we are talking about the XRGB series, or the DVDOs that Fudoh swears by, since the SNES doesn't have component.

I know that the SNES will output to S Video which apparently can be converted into a slightly lesser quality component signal.

What I'm saying is that my TV doesn't do a good job showing 480i/p images. I was wondering if there would be piece of hardware that might do a better job that would act as a middleman between console and TV.

Me too,me too. Right now I make people use my old CRT because old games on my HDTV look like asssss.
