What is the deal with people? I just let this girl I know, that needed tests for cervical cancer have a few hundred dollars. I've known her for a long time, and I felt tremendously sorry for her(single mom, two kids, no job, no car), and gave her some money for a MUCH needed medical test. No strings attached.

Then, about a week later, she asks for 40 dollars for gas money to go and get some other tests out of town. Well, this was money she was going to "borrow", since I really couldn't afford any more.

Well, since I gave her that lousy 40 dollars, she hasn't returned my calls, or answered my texts, or calls. I mean, what the fuck? After, out of sheer pity for her, I give her over 300 bucks for a test, and she then starts dodging me for two weeks over 40 fucking dollars?

I've known this girl for 10 years! I just can't believe this garbage.

This happened to me and my Dad 15 years ago. He died this year without a resolution and he stayed away from me because of shame for the past 15 years.

There isn't much you can do if people avoid you. You just have to accept that people do weird things like this.

I think you done an honourable thing and everyone here should be proud to be around such company. Without do-gooders in the world it would be a much nastier place. Well done mate and I hope she comes back to her senses.

No point in hating on people every time something goes wrong. Most people I know are decent mofos, the douches just stick out more. It's easy enough to ignore them. As for your situation, sounds like this girl is having a real bad time in life, she's probably having a much worse time than you. If she refuses to get in touch with you, there's not much you can do, but when you do see her, I'd advise not bringing up the money, and trying to seem concerned for her. I wouldn't give her any more money though

As for your friend I think that atm she just cant pay you back, its xmas, she's got kids and no money, obviously she's in the wrong for blanking you, but folk do silly things where money is concerned. Maybe if you leave it for a month or 2 she might come to her senses. And if she doesnt think of it as a good thing she out of your life.

I made the lovely trip up to her house tonight(since she won't answer her phone), and discussed it with her. She gave me some garbage about how she has been out of town(which I know is a lie, because my friend has been talking to her, and has visited also). She also, told me that she didn't have the money, and would pay me later.
I said that wasn't the point, but she just gave me some grief and sent me on my way. I mean, I had to drive down this god awful back road, that was covered in snow..and the road is so bad to her house, and that I have to park at the bottom of the hill, and have to walk about five minutes(through the snow) to get to her house. All because she wouldn't pick up the phone. And she sends me on my way after 15 minutes.

Disappointing. Oh well.

I gave her $40 and drove her to what I suspect was her house (she said she was from Detroit and needed the money to get back home of course) and never saw her again. You don't see me getting all vigilante about that now. I almost wrote a poem about it though ("The Night of $40 Negroes" probably wouldn't distinguish me in the way I would prefer though).

Also, that was back around the time some gangs of black youth had beaten up random white guys...alright, this is starting to sound like VIGILANTE WHITE JUSTICE WATCH STORY! and less like how people in general are horrible, which is not true.

It's just a random example. I'm sure we've all got stories of family (that you've known for more than 10 years) doing screwy things...it really calls for a trip in the waahmbulance.
