Hew, lookie thar, she got SUICIDE BULLETS

Cool choice actually, glad I checked it out. This is where 13 minutes got me:

Ed Oscuro - 532,530 - Area 4 - EAH - no autofire

Yep, she got that Graddy syndrome sumthin' fierce!

A real looker (for the time, I love the Ghostbusters style green all over everything) and sounds even better.

It's much easier to come back if you have autofire, and that's probably the only reason why I'm using it.

Hey Ruldra, you might like this. It's like Astro Warrior the arcade game.

My friend's Jaleco Pony has some SERIOUS Haley's Comet burn-in on the monitor. You can see the clear details of the title screen and right bars when powered off.

This game is SO easy when you're at max power, but then it goes downhill if you die even once. And 30 stages...damn this game is long.

Ruldra - 3,320,360 - 21 - RUL - ON/7

I'm definitely going for a loop clear. I was thinking of recording my runs but I can't imagine how boring a replay would be.

Awesome. Made it this far to screw everything up right in the end.

Nice 1 Ruldra 8) .

I kinda missed out on playing this properly when it was in the arcades. It was there in 1985 when I was playing Nemesis (the version with the higher scoring first stage/more boulders from the volcanoes).
A bit of an odd game, but I'd like to try it again.

Really fun game, what suffers from Gradius syndrome.

No-miss up to stage 56! I only made it this far because of the barrier, it saves your life many times, especially on the 2nd loop. Awfully close to a counterstop, but oh well.

Ed Oscuro - 610,370 - Area 5 - EAH - MAME Plus! x86-0.135r4465-20091104 autofire on (setting 6)

Yep, that's where a couple hours got me tonight. Finally found the B shield item, and figured out some other stuff but it's not getting me any farther.

Yep, didn't get the barrier, that thing lulls me into a false sense of security. So close to the million really. Love the warp feature

I only picked this up because in 1986 (Halley's Comet's last pass of the earth) I grew up near this castle (I'm English - whaddya expect?) that had in its grounds the some of the most powerful observatory telescopes in the northern hemisphere at the time. The castle's owners put on a play to celebrate the comet's passing, and my parents took me, but on the gate they said it wasn't suitable for a six-year-old boy. They said 'do you want to watch the comet through the telescope instead?' Of course me and my parents jumped at the chance, and I can just remember seeing the blur in the sky, and falling in love with Space.

Still, it didn't help me with this:

spadgy - 562,790 - OTA - 5 - OFF

Great fun though - fast and lots of firepower for an '86 shooter!

Awesome game, do ya'll know about the bomb trick to get an extra million points at the underground bosses? Shoot all lamps but 1 then immediately after shooting the last one, hit the bomb button. Really tricky to time it right though. I'm rusty, I did get a fluke 1CC in the arcades "back in the day" once.

emphatic - 2,527,460 - JOR - 16 - OFF

With lgb's permission, I've started a new Halley's Comet high score thread here, and it's all updated.
