Well, use Kakusei when you start to freak out, keep to the left of the screen (less bullets there for some reason) and when you run out of Kakusei, use the barrier (just hit the button real quick) and when the barrier laser is released, move to the edge of the screen (left) so the laser doesn't hit the cube, as barrier laser will just refill it's life bar. The quick hit and release is important for two reasons, it will give you more "barrier cop-out instances" to save your ass, and if you DO hit the boss with the laser, it will not give him much life back.
Great stuff, I'll keep that in mind. The reason I died tons at Stage 4 was because I failed to use 'Kakusei' mode (Ive been calling it the Transvestite mode this whole time :lol:) while still getting used to controls and all. Compared to ESPRade that's a bit more than I'm used to. :P

Galuda II is on XBLA?
No.
Thought something was off about that point.

Yeah, I wish it was on XBLA like Guwange was, I'd probably get it. I'd have to download the trial first though, unlike Guwange which I waited for and bought the second it came on XBLA.

And when exactly will we see the working Espgaluda dump released to the wild? It's almost the 24th or the 25th, I'm getting a little bit nervous now.

You know, like, getting a game I haven't paid for. *pouring some oil into the "too close to comfort-discussion-fire* :twisted:

I'm touched ! No, everything I said was pure trolling.

I tried to denounce emulation before with direct arguments, but it's more efficient (and fun) by 'emulating' and compiling all excuses Mame users find for their addiction to free games.

My only conclusion so far, and this one surely won't be disputed : forums/moderators that don't want to hear about copyright infrigement while allowing free talks about emulation of commercially exploited games are plain hypocrits.
Now lots of people live very well with their hypocrisy, it's not a lethal disease.
(Drum says : ) Bin Laden, Ghaddafi, Steve Jobs and now Kim Jong Il. It has been a tough year for evil.

Personally, my hypocrisy is getting too close for comfort and it's killing me slowly but steadily.

Oh wait, no, that's called "aging"...

I'm waiting too. I'm starting to worry this won't make a Christmas release, and every other project I've been checking out is not getting a Christmas release so I'm getting a *little* disappointed. If you happen to get it before I do, PM me ok?

It's not against the rules to talk about copyright infringement, but really if you bring it up it's your own fault for being a moral tightass on the matter to a majority audience that's going to go apeshit at you.
There's hypocrites, and then there's people cleaning up the mess from one person adding more junk into the controversy pot. You'll find here it's only if the topic's a duplicate or gets out of hand it will get locked, not because mods just "dont wanna hear it".

Yeah, me too. I was hoping my copy of Espgaluda II would be here by Christmas, but doesn't look like that's going to happen after all. So, this was going to be a nice consolation prize.

You could always try an ps2 emulator... That is, if you got a half decent machine... Works fine for me, after all. But I so want my scanlines... 8)

I'm surprised the dump isn't already public to be honest, enough people have it.

As for MAME release schedules, New Year I believe is more traditional than Christmas, but lately there hasn't been much tradition at all.

Im surprised too. You'd think itd pop up shortly after the videos just like Ketsui, but no, those that do have it are keeping it to themselves. I guess they see no point in releasing it till the next MAME release since officially the current form is the 'Back Label' one, and those working on the sound want it to be better than what it already is for next release.
I guess the guys that did the YouTube videos of ESPGaluda in action wont respond to a PM, but one could always try. :/

"Dear Santa

This year, I've been a very good boy. I helped many elderly people cross the road, gave to the poor and refrained from masturbating for 5 consecutive days! I even put a little bit of my pocket-money aside. I put that in an envelope and sent it to japan, to cave! I didn't swear, I didn't do drugs, I didn't run over police officers with my car as they were trying to stop me.
So, you see, I did this only because I wish so much for this FFFFFFFFf Espgaluda rom in working condition so you better procure this game to me or I will come up to the northpole, hunt you down, eat your reindeers and violate your elfes!!!"

This guy deleted all comments that was regarded to the rom, so I don't think that he will answer any PMs.

I have it now. :) Also, it seems parts of the other Cave PGM games have been redumped too, probably to do with what Haze said in one of the comments on his site:
There was one in Ketsui that was bad as well, and the others in Espgal had a single bad byte.

btw based on the rom labels…

the sum16s of the ddpdoj set are:
u1: F2CD – BAD
u7: BF79 – good
u8: 29C2 – BAD
u17: 795C – BAD
u19: EF73 – good

so there are probably a few errors in these too… looks like single bit errors, the checksums are close, but still wrong… the net result is probably one or two corrupt sprites, probably only for one frame of the animation.

It doesn't seem to work in shmupmame right now so there's no point. I'm compiling u3 right now and I'll see what happens.

It's going to take like an hour on my crappy computer though, by the time I finish someone else will probably have already done it :?

I don't get. I'm only getting some errors, that I'm still missing some files.

Do I understand this right? I have to extract the old "not working" into the new "almost working" rom and get a new "working" rom?

wtf

You have to rename them.

a04801w064.u7 -> image-1.u7
a04802w064.u8 -> image-2.u8
b04801w064.u1 -> bitmap-1.u1
t04801w064.u19 -> text-1.u19
w04801b032.u17 -> music-1.u17

This was the first thing I did when I tried it in shmupmame and it didn't work, actually. I was just missing the PGM BIOS this whole time. :? This will work in shmupmame too, ignore the errors.

So, I rename them, put the pgm files in the epsg zip and it shoould work? Or do I have to put the "old" rom also in the new zip?

Yes. Rename them, add in PGM BIOS (pgm_t01s.rom) and the program ROM from the 140u2 release (espgaluda_v100.u38), zip it up and you'll be good.

This is how your espgal.zip should look when you're done:

wow amazing. Haha i forgotten how easy this game is overall. Works great so far, but does the music and sound seem a little off sometimes? Maybe its because I havent played the game in so long.

Actually when I enable free shoot from the dip the music gets off. I dont even know what free shoot means.. I thought it would allow a button for rapid fire but that doesnt seem to be the case.
Espgaluda III needs to happen.
