As with Esp.Ra.De, DoDonPachi, Guwange and ProGear, Cave will likely (behind closed doors) grudgingly recognise the value of *now* inactive titles being emulated- they don't stand to loose money, and their fanbase stands to expand further.
As an example, the uptake of the recent Cave imode ports is bound to have been bolstered in the Western world by increased awareness of Cave games via emulation over the last decade.
Every pro-emulation Cave fan on the planet is giddy with excitement right now, as we have another platform to play Ketsui and DDPDOJ on thanks to a committed and talented community of likeminded devs.
The only potential cloud on the horizon is people posting "YAY!!! FREE GAMEZ!!!!" comments on forums like this...
If that's the attitude that developers such as Cave percieve the emulation community as having, the future release of roms and emulators (for, oh, lets pick an example completely at random- EspGaluda...) to completist fans could quite easily be pounced on. Hard.
So STFU, and GROW TFU.

Hell yes I have!!!
Moral Squad?! No chance! I'm not picketing outside the Cave office or anything! (I'm too busy right now
)
That said, there's a reason games aren't emulated mere months after they're first released- the reason we've all waited 7 years for Ketsui- because the hammer would come down on our community faster than you could say "Approach your target and attack!" if things moved any quicker, or if the emulation community was an aggressive threat (or an abrasive presence...).
So maybe we should be showing a bit of restraint for the next, oh, week or so...

Mame has never been about shafting companies or getting free games to us at the time of release , companies like cave are kinda fortunate that the mame team actually take everything into consideration before releasing anything .

Yeah I don't get every comment here, but as a player in need, I'm glad Mame shares with us this new game (dispite it's old). Cave doesn't lose money with me since I wasn't going to give any !!
Come on guys, let's be proud about ourselves.

Re: Espgaluda in Mame
Finally! I've been wanting to play this game for SO long! I've always been sooo close to being able to play it, then having it just out of my reach...
First, there was the PS2 version. I never had a PS2, but I did get a PS3! Unfortunately... the PS3 I got was one of the first Slim ones, which, for some bizarre reason, has no PS2 support whatsoever. Argh!
Then I was going to be able to play the Xbox 360 one. I don't have a 360, but my friend had just bought one used. I got over to his house immediately after I heard he got it, we were ready to buy the game, aaaand... The console was banned. We couldn't access XBLA. DAMNIT!
Finally, the iOS version. I was so excited to finally be playing this game! I went to the App Store... It requires a 3g or higher iPod Touch. I have a 2g. RAGE.
But now, after all this, there's MAME. All I need is that ROM, and I can at last play Espgaluda! Hooray!

I believe, all of us in our own way, could pay cave some respect and purchase something from them in some way because of what mame has allowed us to do, they are a verry talented team (granted, they could release more things stateside) I don't have the cash to throw down on a pcb, or import a very expensive title, but I can go online and buy guange, and occasionally grab an older import from a local game shop, and over time have a respectful library, but over time I will eventually purchase espgaluda (I have ESP II on my iPhone) and my conscience will not be seared, and mighty cave will live on!

Don't get me wrong : Cave doesn't have my money, but it has plenty of my respect. And that is what every developper dreams of : the player's respect.
And btw I'm tired of people lecturing me and trying to take my freedom away. (are you my mother ?)

If you got the dosh, buy the damn games. If you ain't got the dosh, get a better job and just buy the damn games. Ketsui has been released on 360, it is worth owning for X Mode alone. That shit is not on MAME. Now I'm not saying emulation is evil or anything, but have some common sense - these titles are obviosely still making cash so stop playing for free and just BUY THE DAMN GAMES.

I don't know how many times I'll have to post this until people calm down a bit. You think buying the games (even if brand new) won't give them money? Well, buy something from there. It will surely and directly give them money without any 5pb or someone else in the middle. Jeez. We have "agents" (heh) in this very forum who can get the merch for us.

Importing is hard. This is why region free, released only in JAPAN is bad.WildSeraph wrote:Then I was going to be able to play the Xbox 360 one. This is an emulation thread. Emulation is sacred, you soil it with your monetary considerations. Everyone struggles so much with his conscience here.Observer wrote:http://www.cave-shop.jp/

And while Cave may die someday, emulation won't, and therefore is higher on the food chain.

I fired up ESPGaluda under PCSX2 for the first time in a while and I got up to Stage 4 on my first run. I couldnt even beat Stage 2 last time. When this comes out I'm SO going to 1CC it (or at least try).
Any tips as to how I defeat the last boss? I tried him out in Practice mode and it was an absolute pain, I couldn't figure out anything.

Re: Espgaluda in Mame
Well, use Kakusei when you start to freak out, keep to the left of the screen (less bullets there for some reason) and when you run out of Kakusei, use the barrier (just hit the button real quick) and when the barrier laser is released, move to the edge of the screen (left) so the laser doesn't hit the cube, as barrier laser will just refill it's life bar. The quick hit and release is important for two reasons, it will give you more "barrier cop-out instances" to save your ass, and if you DO hit the boss with the laser, it will not give him much life back.BPzeBanshee wrote:Any tips as to how I defeat the last boss?
