If I recall correctly, there's still bits of slowdown here and there depending on which display option you're using or something.

Gugh, no. It's all little details but the GC version is inferior to the DC version.

RSG in saturn emulators is perfect (depends your pc). I tried in ssf last version.

I would like RSG and Ikaruga not be in xbox or in the new generation consoles

because they were icons of the past generation.

I for one would very much like to play a english transtation of RS saturn mode. Its a crying shame that the best story in any shmup hasnt been translated to english for us westerners to fully enjoy.

Also the more rare classics like RS and Ikaruga are sold on the lastest consoles, the more mainstream recognition shmups will get paving the way for new shmups to come to the west. Which is a good thing for us.
Still its a shame both treasure games are DLC only and have no physical means to save these treasures. Honestly console manufactuers should create a system so that anyone who wants a DVD of a XBLA, VC only game, should beable to get hold of a disk if he wishes. IE buy a high priced limited edition disk or been able to back up DLC on to disk somehow.

Since Treasure has released some of their best games on XBLA I think that a compilation disc might be possible in the near future, moreover a shooting game compilation since Bangaioh HD will be released next year this possible compilation could have Ikaruga, RS and Bangaioh.

There's a link somewhere on racketboy with translations to the whole game. Story is kinda cool, but the action is what makes the game.

edit: oh and on youtube there is some amateur voice overs for the opening and its pretty decent.

Not quite, there's all sorts of various differences depending on whether you're playing the US, Japanese, or PAL versions. I've confirmed the US version has missing or lower quality sound effects, the PAL version has bugs all over the stage 1 boss, etc. Like I said, it's all stuff that would be missed by folks who haven't played disgusting amounts of it on various platforms.

I have too much muscle memory with a Saturn pad to play RSG with a stick, I've tried and it's horrible. Still kind of want it, though. I know it's what they had in the factory, but I feel like the colored buttons clash a little bit with the tone of the stick as well.

Does anyone actually prefer the arcade 3 button layout to having 6 or 7 buttons in play for Silvergun? I find the wires in my brain get crossed and I fire off the wrong weapon every once in a while when using just the three.

I find having a button for each shot type makes things overly fiddly and the layout easily forgotten. Three buttons makes sense when you think about what the combination shots are doing.

Copied from that locked thread:
Was browsing at the local magazine aisle and spotted the latest issue of February 2011 Tips & Tricks that mentions the ol' classic Treasure's Radiant Silvergun will be released on XBLA sometime during the month of February 2011. Will it be priced at 800 or 1200 MS points though?

TnT also mentions that this XBLA version of RSG will be based on the original Sega Saturn RSG release. Of course, the later released Sega Titan ST-V cartridge version of RSG running on the ST-V mobo setup omitted the cool anime intro and in-between FMV anime cut scenes making for a meaner & leaner version of RSG indeed.

Urgh, I don't even like RSG but the stick looks so nice...
Ah well, I guess I'm going to pass.

I have to agree that the botton colors look like crap and clash with everything else.

damn.... i only have a flashed-box. i'm going to have to save up some serious money to get myself a new slim-box.

there goes crimzon clover, dead space 2, and any other games that i wanted to dabble in over the next few months.

Or just find a non-slim Jasper model for much cheaper than a new slim 360 and then still be able to afford at least half the games you wanted?

The ST-V version also omitted several bosses. Leaner maybe, but definitely not meaner.

The colors are mandated by Microsoft as stupid as it sounds.

Yeah, I'd love for RSG to remain out of print on a region-locked console that is 2 generations past, much less go on used game stores for as high as 240 USD.

oh wait there's no need to get the saturn version or even the ultra-inferior XBLA port that nobody should buy when it's emulated, I just need a super powerful PC herpaderp

Nah...these games(as all good older games) should always be available for a newer audience or for those whose old systems have broken down, or just don't want 20 systems hanging around. I just feel like if they don't get these ports, they'll just become forgotten relics of the past, that only the hardcore know about. And they're too good for that.

Theres one or two shmup collectors here who by their own admission get a woody from owning rare and (over)pricey games and only play them because of this. I personally am keen to see any new release of a japanese shooter as its putting money back in the developers pockets where it belongs rather then some guy off ebay

I don't get why people hate on emulation or hate on re-releases. If a great game is good why not allow people to enjoy it? If its so great then allow it to get the recognition is deserves.

I have a ton of rare games but I don't care if anyone else pirates them or emulates them. All that matters is that I own and play my very own copy :)

This will be a day one purchase for me.

Can anyone reccomend any other shmups on xbla/xbox indies? I have ikaruga, Guwange and all of the Radian Games indies.

Or, if there is a thread for such things, can someone kindly link me to it? I'm new here and couldn't find anything via search.

Cheers,
Nick
