Follet - 4-1 EX - 361,415,236

I never knew playing the final stage on Death mode without power up on +10000 resulted in a much higher score, BUT IT'S WAY SCARIER!!!

Hint: Follet is best played with the 2P side. For those who don't know, a major difference in 1P and 2P lies in the bomb. As 1P, your familiar disappears for the duration of the bomb, while in 2P your familiar stays on screen during the bomb animation. I don't know if it's just me, but I was unable to do Lock Shot while bombing as 1P, especially with Follet as this move is required in Forest map

Hint 2: Destroying Tyrannosatan's final form while powered-up results in additional 10m

Hey a mistake on the high scores... it's 4-1 EX, not ALX. Would have been ALX if I destroyed one of the two Floating Eyes at the bottom of the staircase. Currently I'm unable to reproduce what I did on that gameplay; it was only with luck that I scraped past Ravine without getting hit (and resetting my crowns back to +0 from +10000).

As for tips, I could write a heck lot more, but I think that should be for a separate thread, although I don't find it practical as everyone has their own play styles. But about the 1P/2P thing, I still recommend 2P, both score attack and casual play. And Casper is hard to play if you don't play her often, the others are just variations of each other.

Gotten my Xbox360, but if you have been catching up on the off-topic side of this forum, I just send it back to the shop due to auto-shutdowns!!!

Terrible run. Started out well, but totally botched stage 4-1 and then died at Jitterbug. Could have easily been 120-130 mil with fewer mistakes and an All Clear.

Regardless, I've met my first goal which was to get the highest Casper score on the North American leaderboards, and that also happens to be the highest Casper score on this board. Don't worry though, I'm not done yet.

Well you might want to pick a couple of tips up. I'm assuming you were playing vanilla mode, judging from your score.

1) Learn the correct technique to defeat each enemy, whether by Shot (tap your attack button) or Laser (hold it down). Some enemies spew a heck lot more silver crowns when using Homing (Holding both attack buttons). But sometimes it's best to just defeat it normally without Homing. Example would be that long worm in the Forest map. You get silver crowns for using Shot against him (he gives skulls on his head and silver crowns on his body, opposite if you use Laser). Homing attack will spawn more skulls, but when you add the skulls up, the silver crowns still give more.

2) In power-up mode, let all crowns, whether silver or high crowns, split into skulls. This is due to the fact skulls and crowns give the same amount of muiltiplier alike during power up mode. Doing simple maths, let's say you already hit 10000 multiplier. Each high crown gives you 2000+10000 score. Let it break, it becomes two silver crowns for 2*(500+10000). Thats 21000, compared to 12000. Now, let the two silver crowns break again, totalling 4 skulls at 4*(100+10000). That's 40400! Now, what say you? Gold or green? Go green (skulls)! Save the Earth! Ok that was totally random.

3) Casper is really a pain in the back to play with if you are playing other characters as well. I'm a native Follet player, so if you can master Casper, you may have to stick with her.

4) Jitterbug can be cheesed with Homing Attack.

5) Defeating Tyrannosatan in power up mode nets you a bonus 10m score.

6) Defeating Jitterbug with no bomb nets you a large cake of 2 health bars.

Got the ALL this time. Still made an expensive mistake on 4-1 and didn't perform optimally at Jitterbug or Tyrannosatan, but I'm happy to put a bit of distance between me and the #2 Casper on the NA leaderboards.

I believe I can get up to around 130 million with my current strategies and stage order if I play a bit better. Then... well, then I'll have to try some new stuff. Learn to Gorge, Learn to Recharge, Learn to Death Mode, stop starting with Forest Level 1, etc.

Changed my stage order a bit and developed more finesse with the shot button. Earned an extra 20 million for my efforts.

No terrible blunders aside from an embarrassing mistake at T-Satan's first pattern which cost me a health and 2 bombs. Oh, and I sucked hard at Jitterbug. Probably cost me over 10 million in end of game bonuses. I'm happy with the improvement, but there is still a long way to go.

Still first with Casper on the NA leaderboards and moved from 23rd to 9th overall.

Still can't seem to get it right as I'm still getting second extend on Ice Palace, though I think I might be doing a little better.

Also, just beat one of my unpatched scores on the patched version finally. I'm waiting to submit others until I beat my unpatched scores.

Terrible run. I don't really remember the best power up times or the power up rules for scoring in this mode unlike MBL 1.1. There's things I like and dislike about both 1.1 and MBL 1.1. Score was killed when I died to Wroon while trying to lock on. I have no idea why the familiar refused to lock on until after I died and then collided with it. Then I died twice on Extra, but I forgot how to do that stage and boss, so that's a bit more reasonable. Screwed up and game overed on Jitterbug since I forgot how to properly handle his final attack, which I can actually dodge unlike the MBL version. Not a 1cc like my unpatched score was, but at least it's a few hundred million higher, plus it's over 4 billion.

Jitterbug and Tyrannosatan are pretty much a wall for me on MBL 1.1 due to how much health they have and the lack of bombs for Tyrannosatan. Bloody Jitterbug would finish me if I even got to him. And that's of course assuming I got there with full lives.

Edit: Had a promising looking run with Follett, then I died 5 times on the first part of the Castle. How do these suicide bullets work? How am I supposed to deal with them.

I haven't got around to switching my licenses to my new xbox yet, so while I saved the replay, this was not a XBL score run (oops, thought it was unavaiable).

Anyway, gonna have to review it to see what I did wrt Jitterbug - I got the cake, and he went down fast without ever performing his final bullet pattern.

Won't update again until I 1CC or break 100 billion, whichever comes first.

I played a little bit tonight and broke my record. Unfortunately, the internet went down while I was playing, so it's not on the leaderboard.

Anyway, I mostly stuck with my current techniques, but managed to beat T-satan with 4 lives remaining this time. Only real score-related regret is that I timed my Graveyard power-up poorly and it ended just before the house.
