CastleVania Epic music tracks...

Post by ST Dragon »

I've always been a fan of CastleVania music (In many occasions, more so than the games them selves...), so I thought of sharing one I recently discovered on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePjiam1Z ... re=related

It’s supposed to be from Curse of Darkness on the PS-2 (Please correct me if I'm wrong), but since I've never played though it, I can't verify if it’s an official track or a fan made remix, but it sounds very epic.
It combines elements from the classic 8-bit tracks with the Symphony of the Night, dark, sinister & ominous gothic tracks.

Imo, CastleVania, along side Mega Man, probably have the most fan made remixes out of any other game series.

So what are your favourite CastleVania tracks?
Post them here from youtube.

Wicked Child

I've no idea why they don't use this song at all in new games. Definetely my favorite one from the first game, although the whole soundtrack is just phenomenal and has stood the test of time remarkably well - too bad Kinuyo Yamashita doesn't get enough credit for her work.

Also you should check out Harmony of Despair OST. You can say whatever you want about the actual game but the music is just as solid as ever. After all it mainly consists of reorchestrated songs but DAMN! If only I could said same thing about Lords of Shadow...

Castlevania is one of the series that i love mostly for their music. IMO, the music adds so much to these games' atmosphere. (Which was one of the reasons why the last game, Lords of Shadow, wasn't so good compared to GBA/DS or PS2 entries in the series.) Anyway, here are some of my favorite tracks from the series...

Lament of Innocence - Anti-Soul Mysteries Lab

Legacy of Darkness - The Sinking Old Sanctuary (Orginally a Bloodlines track but i love this version best)

Harmony of Dissonance - Aqueduct of Dragons

Hey, that Wicked Child track is a classic!! It’s been ages since I last heard it. please remind me which stage was it played at? Thanks for the memories!

Are you sure it has never been remade in any of the later 16/32bit CastleVania titles or at least a fan made remix?

Kinuyo Yamashita...Which CastleVania games is she responsible for the music?
Somehow I have correlated Ayami Kojima with CastleVania more than anybody else, so I've over looked some of the other people involved with the series.

As for that Harmony of Despair track, it's great biut not as epic as the SOTN tracks...
This sounds great too:

It plays during stage 3, the one with mummies.
And it actually has been remade in Akumajo Dracula X68000 (The Sharp X68000), Castlevania Chronicles (Playstation) and Castlevania: Order of Shadows (mobile phones). But the first two are basicly remakes of the first game so it makes sense. Still shame it hasn't been used any of the GBA/DS titles.
Atleast there are still some great fan remixes, here is one from SSH:

Only the first one... She actually wanted to continue her work on Simon's Quest but she was taking charge of other games at the time.

I don't know about individual track titles, but my favorite CV album is Dracula New Classics. Even played it at my wedding!

I really like this version of Cross a Fear from Rondo of Blood.

Wicked Child is still my personal favorite Castlevania track. I like how the PSX version of Dracula X68000 had the option to change the sound chip emulation.

OK, allow me to clarify it even further...
Seeing us to how wide, vivid, rich and diverse CastleVania music is the past 24 years, choosing such poor tracks as your favourites (especially Aqueduct of Dragons on the GBA, from a console which its music capabilities were never utilized to their fullest), shows that your music tastes are obscure to say the least.

But then again, what would you of all people, know about music anyway?! ;)

I don't think these words mean what you seem to think they mean. Since you can't seem to play well with others, I'm going ahead and closing this thread.
