Dear Videogame Santa

Post by Blade »

Dear Videogame Santa,

Just wanna say I've been relatively good this year, supporting my favorite game companies and their flagship titles, as well as getting some classics. And YES, I even share my games with my friends, so I've been real good.

If you could, please, check out my Christmas List of things I want (even if they may not happen by Christmas or EVER), as this is a wishlist that only a guy like YOU can make possible! I hope it's not too difficult.

--Please put more vertical shmups (shootemups, but you KNEW that) on the Playstation 3! I know there's a few on PSN, but they aren't the kind that have a vertical display like what I really like with Full Screen TATE. Stuff like the latest Dodonpachi, Castle Shikigami, anything by Cave, also old arcade ports would be nice as well, like Flash Blade. The latest shmups should be able to be handled by PS3 I would think...so please help out with that!
--Please get Sega/Treasure to bundle Radiant Silvergun/Ikaruga/Silhouette Mirage on PSN, those games don't get enough love.
--While you're at it, help Sega to rebuild their Sonic Team of developers...Sonic 4 needs a lot of help!
--Please help Konami release a successful Metal Gear Rising make sure Raiden can do all kinds of jumping and tricks and stuff like Cyborg Ninja could, and also (hopefully) Zone of the Enders 3! I look forward to the next Orbital Frame Battles.
--Even though Square-Enix isn't involved, please get the guys working on Batman: Arkham City to do a good job.
--Convince Nintendo to make a Dating Sim/Customization Sim called "NintenGirls"...I could really use the training.
--Please Help Capcom manage to get Strider to show up in Marvel VS Capcom 3 as a playable character! I know he was deconfirmed, but that's just not right!
--Also, help Capcom release Strider 3, possibly as a 2.5D platforming action game (with possible elements that exceed Ninja Gaiden Sigma series).
--Please convince SNK-Playmore to make decent Netcode for their PSN games that are coming out, and get them to release Samurai Showdown 5: Special and Last Blade 1 and 2 as online fighting games. Also a PS3 version of Samurai Showdown: Edge of Destiny would be nice too.
--Please, please, PLEASE help Arc System Works release PS3 copies of the Guilty Gear games, fully translated and localized, ideally:
Guilty Gear: The Missing Link (Translated)
Guilty Gear X+: By Your Side G. Gear (Translated)
Guilty Gear XX Slash (with story Mode from Midnight Carnival, and XX and #R Modes)
Guilty Gear Isuka
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core+
Guilty Gear 2: Overture
If you can, convince them to bundle these as a collection on PS3...as I have always wanted to have them all on one system. Also, please help them make a new Guilty Gear that's even BETTER than BlazBlue is so far. I want Daisuke to finish what he started.
--Please convince ZUN to release an anthology of his Tohou Shrine Maiden games (including the fighting games) on PSN and XBox 360 as a port of the shmups. I love his music and games, but my PC can't handle them, so please help Zun!
--Help the guys behind Fate/Stay Night, Melty Blood, and Umineko fighting games to port copies of their stuff on PS3 as a bundle as well!
--Please convince Square-Enix to port Final Fantasy III, IV, and possibly V and VI remakes to PS3 or PSP, I really don't know what they're thinking but we'd really like them. Also give them lots of advice on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, since XIII was kindof dull. Also help out with Duodecim if you need to!
--Please please PLEASE help Tri-Ace release a game that isn't a rotten egg this time? Namely Valkyrie Profile 3!!
--Please help Nintendo out a lot with Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword...make it dark and epic like Adventure of Link was, but more interactive like Majora's Mask was, compared to Twilight Princess's town square at least.

I think that's all from me, I'm sorry if I'm asking a lot here, but well...you ARE Videogame Santa, and I believe in you! You're a busy guy, I know, but if you can help the "elves" with their work, a lot of people would be really happy in the next year or so. Thanks!

P.S. While I don't have cookies and milk, I DO have some soda in the fridge and plenty of food, so come by and we'll game some time! Happy Holidays, big guy!

This is probably the longest and most complicated, "Why aren't the games i like on the PS3" thread yet. Just as pointless though.

Eh, whatever, I'm bored and should be sleeping, so this seems kinda fun.

WHAT DO I WANT?

-A new Resident Evil that isn't an action game. Please make a fixed camera spooky fest that I can't play by myself.

-A U.S. release of Fatal Frame IV with Japanese language and English subs. (Yeah, I know there is a fan translation out there, but if it was a U.S. release it would be half the price.)

-A new Myth game. Yeah, Bungie sold the rights, but I would give ANYTHING for a new game. Myth III was pretty mediocre, but if Bungie didn't haven't their head up Master Chief's ass they could make one of the best dark fantasy real-time tactics games for PC. I would cry.

-A good sequel to Blood. Blood 2 is the biggest disappointment, ever. Please make a sequel that is terribly dark and evil, with slight traces of comedy throughout (don't overdo it)

-A sequel to Shadow Warrior. I want some Wang! (take that however you want)

-A new Capcom Dungeons and Dragons beat-em-up. Tons of different paths and story choices. 10 different characters and up to 4 players. Shadow Over Mystara got it right on the money, but I would die for another sequel. Has to be 2D.

-A sequel to Sylphia on the PC-Engine

-Sequel to Axelay

And, for in "real life", games that I want but cannot afford at the moment: Snatcher, many CPS2 games, lots of Cave J360 titles, Sylphia, Sapphire, Duke Nukem Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Sunset Riders PCB, Batsugun, Majyuuou, Sutte Hakkun, Pulstar, M.U.S.H.A., blah blah blah...

Yeah, but you better watch out not to over do it, or else you’ll be placed into Santa’s very naughty list and end up receiving an Alien face-hugger in your stockings for Christmas instead!

I can tell you what those extra characters would have been.

SoM was based on a version of Basic D&D (not AD&D) and the characters from SoM are just the classes from Basic. (That's right, dwarf and elf are treated as classes.) It was up to 9 classes before it was canceled.

The extra ones are:
-Halfling
-Druid
-Mystic (the Monk class renamed for some reason)

Dear Santa:

Tell videogame developers to stop making games with QTEs. Seriously. That crap was invented to give some action to the snooze fest that is Shenmue. Action games like Resident Evil 4, and God of War don't need them.

(Dead Space is excluded because it's only used to break free from an enemy's grip. And it's more like a button-mashing sequence.)

Guilty Gear is already better than BlazBlue. But I would kill, or even ask Santa, for it to be released on XBLA/PSN with online support, so I can actually level up without 3 hours travel.

Dear Videogame Santa,

How about sending me that SPECACT package for Battlefield: Bad Company 2?

Seeing how EA was promoting BF2BC: Vietnam a week ago, selling the original game for $19.99, before they dropped it to $6.80 a few days later or some shit.

Just EA's little way of saying "merry christmas" to us all!
