That would be fun and I'd definitely be down. Also I caught a copy of Bronson and it's absolutely hilarious, thanks for letting me know about that.

That sounds like a good time, I'd be all for it.

Son of a bitch! Wish I knew about this meet up before it happened. I'm just starting to get into shooters more and would have loved the opportunity to get humbled by people who know what they're actually doing. 8)

I'll rock the next one in full force and bring some fandamntastic beer to make up for my lack of skill (having friends that work at Binnys is a beautiful, liver destroying thing).

OK - the time has come to plan another meet!

CHICAGOLAND WINTER CARNIVAL 2011

I'm thinking of doing something in February on the weekend of the 20th, running from Friday the 18th to Sunday the 20th. As usual, there will be a ton of console systems and my Astro City. I will also need to work something out for extra cabs/ways to play pcb's as:
1) Dave is now living it up in sunny CA and we won't have his cab to use and
2) carrying cabs up to my apartment is no fun.

I'm hoping we can get 2-3 superguns and a few nice CRT's to take care of that. I have my NEC XM29, but all my other CRT's have moved on to the great electronic junkyard in the sky. I will also have some old school arcades going on as usual, this time plugged in - definitely my Crystal Castles and my vs. Castlevania and possibly more.

The scoring competition is still TBD, but there will be a caravan title as per usual.

I have a bunch of old systems, but no JP XBOX though, so someone will definitely need to bring one!

Same offer I always make - anyone is welcome to stay over night for the weekend. I have parking passes to take care of your cars as well.

Let me know what you guys think and we'll go from there. Very much looking forward to another meet!

I have a supergun, a 13" PVM, and a 29" PGM (with J-360 / other VGA capable devices) and I'd love to go! But alas, I'm going to be in Singapore for the month of February... kickin' it in the real arcades there. Rows upon rows of beautiful Astros and Egrets wait for my touch.

I hope to make it to one of drboom's legendary meets one of these years!

I had a blast @ gunbird's meet a few weeks back - I'd love to attend this...
PLUS it's my birthday weekend!

IF I can come I'll bring:

Fever SOS
Donpachi
Change Air Blade
Blazing Star
and whatever else I buy between now and then.

I hear Br.Boom throw the mad shindigs.....guess I'll find out...

\o/

I rarely play shmups anymore, but these meets are too fun to miss. I'm 99% sure I'll be there for Saturday at least. I'll stay tuned for a solid date... I shouldn't have any conflicts, but I usually like to take that Friday and Monday off.

Also, I can bring my JP 360 if nobody else brings one, although I recently started getting that Open Tray error. For now I'm using the ghetto "keep tapping the top until it starts loading" workaround on the odd occasion that I play something that requires a disc... I should probably look into a permanent fix.

Chicagoland Winter Carnival FTW!!!

The Astro can house the old school boards. Most of the newer Cave games can be played on the JP 360. This will be awesome!

I should have a couple of people with me! Shmupmeet in the middle of Chicago!!! This cannot be missed!

See you there!

Hmmm....I'm definitely interested in coming up for this, gotta figure out my vacation schedule though. Any chance of assembling a good ol' Missouri carpool, gunbird?

I'll have 3 seats in my car available if people either:
a. can get to Saint Louis
or
b. are on the way to Chi Town

All depending on if I come (which is like a 93.6% chance....)

Good idea gunbird18 for the new Cave stuff. With a mame-box we should have everything wrapped up!

My girlfriend and I should be able to make it. I may have a j360 by then as well in case someone else can't bring theirs. Otherwise I'll try and get a hold of my Dreamcast so we can have some DC love this year.

I'll pencil in my rsvp…

hopefully, I'll be able to take time off of work, and make the trip. I had a wonderful time at the last one a few years back, and would like to make attendence to this one.

I can bring my Japanese Xbox 360 as I had the first time, as well as all the games!

I will post status updates to confirm for certain my attendence.

While I can't guarantee that I can be there this early, I will definitely try. Question, do I need to freshen up my Batrider skills?

I hope to make it out this year, since I didn't know about this last year.

I live right in Naperville and have a J-360 with every retail shmup that has been released as well as every XBLA, Indie games, and Game Room shmups on there as well. I also have my full size standup MAME cab here with about 600 games, but I don't really think its possible to drag it up to your place unless you're really nearby. Also have multiple arcade sticks for various systems if we need any extras and also have a number of Dreamcast, PS1 and Saturn shmups lying around as well.

By this time, MuchiMuchi Pork and Pink Sweets will also be out :) drboom, get in contact with me if you want to try to make some arrangements about what to bring, etc. And where exactly is this taking place?

It's taking place in Lakeview, in Chicago, very close to the corner of Clark and Belmont at my place. Shouldn't be too far a drive from Naperville - I went to high school out there!

The JP 360 will be very much welcome - I'm going to try and score a few more CRT TV's for the meet, so the more systems, the better! Looking forward to meeting more Chicagoland folk!

For anyone interested in directions or just an address to my place, I will be pm'ing my info before the meet to all respondents of this thread, but feel free to hit me up via pm if you need any other details - places to stay, etc. As usual though, my floor and couches are free and any and everyone is welcome to stay the weekend!

Cool, I also have 2 spare CRTs if you end up needing them as well as one spare LCD. Yeah, Lakeview isn't very far but probably too far to take my cabinet, especially since I don't have a vehicle to transport it.

Two spare CRT's would be awesome to have!

BTW - got the super secret carnival title in today - hoping it's a new one for most of you...not a common title! 8)

OK - looks like there are some core folks who have been coming since the first one who cannot make it that weekend, so I'm proposing the weekend of the March 4-6th in hopes that everyone who has replied can still come and those who couldn't make the previous weekend are able.

Let me know if you are still good!

So is the March date official now? All I have to do is request off work and I'll be all good, just need to know if that's for sure.

I want to make sure it doesn't pose problems with the majority of people, so if you can, wait a few days and we'll see what the response is.
