Prikura Daisakusen SS question

Post by BIL »

I've been trying this out in MAME, and like it a lot, except for one thing - double-tapping a direction to roll. I keep accidentally rolling while tap-dodging. Does anyone know if the Saturn port allows the player to disable double-taps? I know it's got a dedicated roll button, but all I've found otherwise is a GameFAQs menu translation which mentions "I" and "II" control configurations (hoping one is button roll only).

(aka Purikura Daisakusen <-- for the search)

The double-tap roll can't be disabled in the Saturn port. The control type option only changes movement behavior. Personally, I don't find it annoying. Not with a Saturn pad, at least. Never played it with anything else. But then again, I never tap-dodge in this game. There's no real point in doing that. You do know you can cancel/reflect bullets with the melee attack, right?

Damn. And yeah, I know about bullet-cancelling, but I dislike not being able to make small adjustments without flying all over the place (I'm using a USB Saturn pad). Thanks anyway, I might still get the SS port.

It's been a loooong time since I've played this, but I own the SS version and I remember enjoying it a lot. I'm not sure how much it goes for these days but it's a fun game. It comes with a neat little art calendar too (which is naturally hilariously out of date, but the art is still nice).

The ST-V cart version of Prikura Daisakusen running on the Sega Titan ST-V mobo arcade platform is cool to play/own as well.

LOL @ Limited Credits.
I cleared this a couple of years ago. I don't ever recall the double tap getting the better of me. Maybe just have to get used to it. Fun game. I miss the Atlus of old.

At the risk of veering off topic... I miss the older-style Atlus games as well, but I think Atlus can still make some good games. Catherine looks like it could be quite amazing. :D
