Better Genesis video
Better Genesis video
I play a lot of Genesis games, and was wondering if there is a way of getting better video out of it short of using RGB. It's the typical Genesis issue: everything looks just a little more smudged than it does on other systems from that generation (even compared to other composite outputs, not even component or anything). I noticed that the Genesis JAMMA mod seems to produce a very sharp picture. So, could there be some sort of mod I could do to correct the problem which would work with composite? Maybe a different model I could buy such as an X'Eye or Nomad or something?
Humans, think about what you have done
Re: Better Genesis video
the JAMMA mod is just RGB, with the same series resistors found in a Genesis SCART cable. If you have a TV with component that accepts 240p (you can check this with some Wii VC games), then get one of these:louisg wrote:I play a lot of Genesis games, and was wondering if there is a way of getting better video out of it short of using RGB. Re: Better Genesis video
I have a CDX, and I wouldn't say that in RGB things look smudged compared to other consoles, rather what I see as a visual problem is closer to what is being addressed for the Neo Geo over here.
Strange thing is that is does not show up for all games, so I think it is related to the resolution or render mode being used. Gunstar Heroes, for an example, has this almost grid like rough texture everywhere. Shining Force 2 on the other hand, only shows it depending on what screen is being shown. The title screen has it, but when the game goes into the map, for when you battle everything is crystal clear.
To do some comparisons I recently bought the composite cables for the CDX, which were not included when I originally purchased mine. I'll see if using composite gets rid of the problem, and if it does not look too bad I think I'll use composite for games like Gunstar Heroes and others that are badly affected, because in RGB the games have a very unpleasant look to them.

I don't think he was saying that either.kamiboy wrote:I wouldn't say that in RGB things look smudged compared to other...
