What the fuck, it doesn't matter if he's black. It's a GTA/Mafia rip-off that people will buy because of the rapper. Rumours are that he's invincible to cops.D wrote:Another jealousy thread.

Agreed. The video game industry REALLY needs tasteless violent crap like this in the wake of the whole San Andreas sex-scene scandal.jp wrote:I'm going to say the same thing about this that I said about the "We're Making a Reality Show Out of Making a Horror Movie" idea:

In that case, I think that Schatten, Greg and Undamned are hot.Diabollokus wrote:Nice attempt at trolling D. I stand by my comment ''hes an ugly bastid'', you see real men who are confident in their sexuality can say stuff like that without reprisal

Now stop giving me the funny looks already. No, seriously.

Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.
I wonder whos developing it. At best it could turn out like the Def Jam wrestlin games; good games ruined by shameless licenses.

I hardly think of Hot Coffee as a scandal, just politicians and lawyers using minute things to advance their own agendas and make everyone sane angry in the process.dave4shmups wrote:Agreed. Like with "Nipple Gate" there's a lot of bullshit talk about something not really that important/worthy.

It's gone beyond that now to a full blown utterly spectacular waste of time. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07/25 ... 29723.htmlMonkey_Man wrote:I hardly think of Hot Coffee as a scandal, just politicians and lawyers using minute things to advance their own agendas and make everyone sane angry in the process.dave4shmups wrote:Agreed. I don't understand, I really don't. The country that makes most of the worlds violent films, and much of its porn, getting upset about a part of a game that was locked off from final release.Acid King wrote: It's gone beyond that now to a full blown utterly spectacular waste of time. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07/25 ... 29723.html
I wish I knew where the hell this "sex on TV is fine, but sex in a game is EVIL EVIL EVIL!" mentality came from, it's fucked up. For the benefit of people outside of the US - could someone tell us what the difference between M and AO actually is? I mean - isn't a mature person an adult?

Sex on TV isn't fine, either. But damn if we don't toe tha line like crazy whenever humanly possible. But the second someone goes over it, it blows up into another scandal.
And I have no idea what the difference between M and AO is, beyond the fact that M is for 17+, and AO is for 18+. AO is like the "okay, we really mean it this time" version of M. It's also useless beyond labeling things as porn.

I personally don't understand how Europe can put out tons of sex on tv, put out 28 days later, and put out some of the most violent videogames in the world...yet be totally up in arms about a little violence in videogames on their shelves. They even censored Contra over there!
What can you do about deeply ingrained cultural values?

Your analogy is weak old man.The n00b wrote: I personally don't understand how Europe can put out tons of sex on tv, put out 28 days later, and put out some of the most violent videogames in the world...yet be totally up in arms about a little violence in videogames on their shelves. 28 days later, vs Dawn of the Dead in which we see a woman chainsawed in half. Not a zombie one either. Also, Europe is made up of lots of countries with very different values and standards, Contra will have been censored for Germany (they don't like seeing blood).
It just seems very odd to be getting so stupid over something that isn't even IN the released game.

My analogy is only "weak" because it hits home. The U.S. is also made up of states with very different values. Some of the hardest critics of violence in videogames are from the northern states while southern critics make up the majority of those who decry sex in American media.
Of course all of this is very stupid. The GTA "mod" doesn't even show much. You'll see more at a typical American club on the dancefloor. I assume that the loudest critics are seeing this as a chance to push their agenda of "cleaning up" interactive entertainment.

Well, in that case I could bring up The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.bloodflowers wrote:28 days later, vs Dawn of the Dead in which we see a woman chainsawed in half. Not a zombie one either.

Neither America nor the UK are strangers to extreme violence and sex in movies.
This is also very true. Sometimes I get the feeling that people from other parts of the world don't fully grasp how divided America is on most issues. The laws and social morals in the northeast, in the midwest, and in the south are all vastly different. In some states you're not even legally allowed to buy sex toys, while in California... well, it's California. Gay marriage is fully legal in Massachusetts, while Iowa is still a dangerous place to be out, period. The n00b wrote:Some of the hardest critics of violence in videogames are from the northern states while southern critics make up the majority of those who decry sex in American media.
No, I'm not whining that the world doesn't know about America. I'm not stupid. But it's not quite as unified as a lot of people make it out to be.
Actually, it's not sex on TV, it's violence mostly. Whereas in most of Europe I hear it's the opposite; graphic violence is bad but sex is OK (which makes a lot more sense to me). The difference between M and AO is like the difference between an R and an X rating. You don't have to be 17 to buy an R rated movie but you do have to be 18 to buy porn. On the other hand, these are games and because there is no law against exposing kids to violent video games, like there is with porn, restricting it to an AO rating seems a ridiculously extreme, especially when a parent can get their kids in to R rated films, many of which are much more graphic than the GTA scene.bloodflowers wrote:

Like those "Sexiest Commercials You'll Never See" or the like that they occasionally show. And they are mostly European commercials.Acid King wrote: Actually, it's not sex on TV, it's violence mostly.
