Arrange B is training wheels for Ura loop.
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
Definitely. It's so generic and unmemorable I *still* can't make out where the arrange tracks are supposed to be. You can't select between them in the options.Depth Charge wrote:-Music is forgettable. I think it's one of Caves worst soundtracks.

The soundtrack is absolutely lame. People complain all the time about Cave's soundtracks, but I think most of them are good to pretty good. This one is just so blah. BL's is great though.bcass wrote:Definitely. It's so generic and unmemorable I *still* can't make out where the arrange tracks are supposed to be. speaking of BL.. any mention from CAVE on what Zatsuza is yet?
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..

Just on a side note. Is any1 elses 360 slim making WAY more noise with this game than any other?????

I'm baffled by these comparisonsSchrodinger's Cat wrote:I would rank the difficulty of the first loop as being somewhere around Futari Maniac and Ketsui, but slightly easier.
I've been lucky enough to have a handful of credits on DFK, made it to stage 5 on my first attempt and after several more almost pipped the last boss - and I even felt a little guilty I'd had too easy a ride then because I hadn't learned the game at all, just blindly bumbled through it.
I can't see DFK 1.5 being anywhere near as hard to get a 1 loop clear in as Futari Maniac

And Ketsui?!!
Not to say you're evaluations are incorrect (Taylor has spent more time with the game than anyone I know), but, scoring aside, I'm sure from what I played that DFK 1.5 is a vastly easier clear than both of the aforementioned?

Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
I was hoping the music would be selectable in the way it was for Espgaluda II Black Label, but apparently not. We KNOW it's there in the game data, but there's no means to access it in-game that I can find. Could be a forthcoming DLC unlock key...bcass wrote:Definitely. EDIT: On further analysis, it's not a new arrange at all; it's just the Black Label soundtrack (my bad for not recognizing it!). The CD that comes with the LE is yet another arrangement, which is NOT in the game's data.
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
This. But for every single game mode including 1.5 for me. Hopefully I'll get some more time to dig into it tonight, but even in the main game I have little clue what's going on. I haven't even managed the first extend, but I got to stage 5.njiska wrote:Just played Arrange B. I've never been so confused in a shmup.

But um... I like the visuals and the soundtrack? Yeah. And I'll just echo what people are saying about Arrange B being a fun way to get some action without a huge time commitment. Yay.

Well that's just bizarre. Then again DSIIX had the arrange as a DLC card so who knows.StarCreator wrote:The CD that comes with the LE is yet another arrangement, which is NOT in the game's data.

I don't see how this game has worse music then any other cave games. Usually there's only a couple I like and the rest are bleh in all the cave games.
I do like stage 5 music and some what the first stage. I really like the boss music that plays on stage 2 / 4 / 5. It really pumps you up and by far my favorite boss music from all the cave games I've played.

Espgaluda III needs to happen.

Speaking about music, I have said it before but the third stage bgm isn't it an arrange one from Espgaluda II????
Someone else noticed it but I am just curious if we might be wrong.

Playing Strong iirc, I was new to it so just trying to feel the game out.njiska wrote: What Style were you playing?
Ah right, so you weren't meaning the regular 1.5 vanilla mode? (I'm not too au fait with the other modes... I haven't received the port yet.)Taylor wrote:When I said "easier loop" I meant Tsuujou (?), not the first
Apologies, I got confused cus I thought someone said they were struggling with vanilla, and figured your responses were based around that.

Strong was a mode that Cave allowed to be unlocked via code some time after release. In 1.5 the mode is overpowered, from a strait up clear perspective on loop 1. It can also be somewhat difficult to chain when playing for skill due to the tendency to obliterate everything on screen. You have to kind of meter your shot.Skykid wrote:Playing Strong iirc, I was new to it so just trying to feel the game out.njiska wrote: What Style were you playing?
Power is where the fun is for 1.5, in general. Strong can be a good mode though, when you get home from a tavern.

He's still talking about ver1.5. Tsuujou is the name of the standard (no TLB) 2nd loop.Skykid wrote:Ah right, so you weren't meaning the regular 1.5 vanilla mode? Yeah i noticed this aswell. Not sure if it is actually from galuda or just sounds like it. Doesnt the same guy do all of caves soundtracks? If so thats probably why it sounds similar.Phellan Wolf wrote:Speaking about music, I have said it before but the third stage bgm isn't it an arrange one from Espgaluda II????

I actually think the music is ok. Like the boss music. Like the music in between stages, and i love the stage 2 midboss breakdown

Why do they have to have these stupid unlock codes anyway.
All it means is that 7 years down the line after a RROD and xbl servers shut down that you wont be able to preserve that version of the game.
Thank god for dreamcast.

Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
About to get this in the mail today. I was wondering if someone could quickly point out which (if any) of the modes allow you to fight the TLB without the normal requirements (Ura loop 1LC...? not happening). Am I correct that 1.51 has this boss fight after the first loop?
I really enjoy the Saturn mode of DDP because I get to play against Hibachi. I'm hopeful that DFK has something similar even if the mechanics are reworked.

Oh yeah, the big bee is there at the end of 1.51. I assume he's at the end of stage 5 Arrange B as well. No idea about Arrange A.chempop wrote:About to get this in the mail today. Thanks njiska, I'm not going to be able to download my DLC today sadly, maybe this weekend. I'm just not crazy about 2nd loops, for me 25-30min is a good length before I want to take a break, plus it usually takes everything I got to clear the first loop.
The only 2nd loops I'm really good at are Batsugun Special and Under Defeat.

The worst part is that his final barrage feels like it should be easy to dodge, but once you have three levels of bullets in alternate directions it's crazy. Thank god for hyper.brentsg wrote:Yea he kicked my ass the other day. I was surprised to see him!njiska wrote:Oh yeah, the big bee is there at the end of 1.51. Yeah I need to get a new display. I'm playing it on a 23" 1080p LCD that doesn't rotate. I could barely see the spacing between his bullets on the final attack.njiska wrote:The worst part is that his final barrage feels like it should be easy to dodge, but once you have three levels of bullets in alternate directions it's crazy. Has Arrange A frozen on anyone during Stage 4, using Power Style? It's happened to me twice now, having to turn off my 360. I think it has something to do with pressing change and hyper at the exact same time.
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
Yeah, I thought it was an interesting change. I picked Bomb by accident and ended up doing much better since I don't end up bombing twice as much in the extra time it takes to kill enemies with the lower-powered Bomb style.originalz wrote:Ah, that's an interesting change indeed! Never noticed since I only play Power, I guess I really should try the other styles and see how the changes effect the game. Heh, I almost feel like 1.51 is realizing the potential that DFK has had from the beginning, I just really like the balance and small changes to keep the action going.flux wrote: Nope. It's like DOJ where it will hyper if you have one, but unlike DOJ you can't not get the hyper. I also figured out that the 2 bombs per auto-bomb thing is only for Strong type. I guess that balances out the types a little better so Bomb type has some advantage.
The training mode will also let you pick Ura Boss EX as a stage if you just want to see what it's like.chempop wrote:About to get this in the mail today. I would also agree about the music, but I feel that way about most shmup music. 98% of the time I end up turning down the BGM and putting on my own music. If I had to hear the stage 1 music every time I restarted, I would probably quit playing all together.

I have to say that Arrange A is really a blast to play. It's probably my favorite thing to play on the disc. Something really satisfying about switching between the different hypers and cancelling all those bullets. Also the boost hyper in that mode looks amazing.

Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
I've put in so many hours in Futari Maniac (see high scores thread) to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if my view regarding the difficulty may be skewed a bit. I got to stage 5 on my first non-scoring run in that game, which is similar to what I experienced with DFK playing strong style. Ketsui took some practice, but I wouldn't say that the difference is vast if we're just talking about clearing it. Scoring, on the other hand changes everything though. I've yet to figure out how the game ranks in difficulty if you're trying for a scoring run.Skykid wrote:I'm baffled by these comparisons

I like a few stage tracks in the game (1,3 and the beginning of 5), but none of those are among my favorite tracks in a Cave game. The stage 2 music is probably the worst Cave has to offer though. It feels like it belongs as a theme song to some cheesy loli dating sim anime, not a shooting game. It's even worse than Donpachi's soundtrack.evil_ash_xero wrote: The soundtrack is absolutely lame. Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
Arrange A is awesome! Actually, all the modes seem worthwhile for once. Will be spending some serious hours tonight with the game, as expected I easily got deep in Stage 5 on my first run of 1.5, I think many people will. I had some practice on the iPad the system is familiar.
I don't mind the Music, even though it's not the best, I think Longhena Cantata is quite excellent.
Crap, gotta get to work, thank god I have tonight off
