Pretty much every boss in the game has atleast one weakness so give it a try and experiment with your weapons a bit - flamethrower and lance are usually the best choices, while spread is pretty much useless. Also you should really master counter attack, zero teleport and your super attack which can devastate many bosses in matter of seconds.

First boss of Alien Soldier?

First off, I recommend you use the weapon setup Buster - Flame - Sword - Lancer. Flame is probably the most versatile weapon in the game and works great on most bosses, second being Lancer. Buster will get you through the stages as it's rapid and has plentiful ammo.

When you're at full health, doing a Zero Teleport will burn everything in its path and can kill the centipede boss in one hit. If you miss this opportunity, just hop onto the ceiling (never get off) and Zero Teleport left and right, flaming it after it tries to lunge for you.

Just keep practicing, you'll figure it out.

I'd personally nominate Majora's Mask because it has the longest Start-to-Dungeon rating of any Zelda game and the overworld isn't a pain in the ass to navigate.

Agree with drauch, LttP is bottom-tier Zelda, down with 2, TP and the DS games. Too bad he likes Streets of Rage music.

I am playing: Kung-Fu Taikun (Seibu Kaihatsu, 1984 - arcade)
Had never heard of this game before, but it has a pretty impressive feature list: Jumping on enemy's heads & wall jumps back in '84, using a mic to summon a cloud platform ... game is gold.
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

Silent Hill 2, again. If my dick could fit in the disc spindle I'd bone this game. Every time I replay it something new about the plot occurs to me. Most replayable non-action game I own. The other original three aren't too shabby either.

Just got into a huge flux of games. Just in the last month, I've picked up:

Sonic Colors
Gran Turismo 5
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light
Mass Effect 2
DDP DFK

Finished Sonic Colors (I'll try for collecting all the red rings later), had a lot of fun with it.
Progressing slowly but surely in GT5, having a lot of fun with it though.
FF: 4HoL I've only played a couple hours into so far, but it seems incredible. I love the old-school NES-style music and aesthetic.
ME2 I just started, seems pretty cool.
And of course, just got DFK and am chugging away at that.

Just uninstalled Apache Air Assault. It has nice graphics, functional controls, flight model is OK too, not too glitchy, but... escort missions. I played all levels except last 4, and other than the first one, every single level is an escort mission!

A teaser for Forza 4 was released and I haven't looked at it yet, but I heard it looks interesting.

XIII (FPS comic book style)

some games I play from time to time:
star wars rebellion
mount&blade
hurrican
triple A(axies&allies port)
oblivion
nascar season 2003

I tried penumbra which looked cool but it's getting annoying to be in the dark 50%+ of the time.
I'm an emulator addict and try tons of oldies(amiga/atari and the consoles too).

Aside from progress in various games on Shmupmame (Nightmare in the Dark, etc.), I beat an old PC platformer's shareware episode.

Elfland: Gorgimer's Castle. I played it a wee bit years ago, felt frustrated, but this time with some abuse of the save-anywhere (nice!) saving system I beat it.

Edit: You don't have to play the crusty old DOS version...you can certainly get an idea how bland the game is, or even buy a DirectX-compatible version if you like, from the author's site here. Surprised as heck to find this still supported!

Short description: A low-resolution PC game (might be EGA or something; whatever it is, I can't screencap it correctly) with a "Elf" hero - elves in Elfland are short critters with glowing blue eyes. They had to make something blue but didn't want to get sued, I guess. Thankfully, blue-eyes they never look straight into the screen. Other than that it's very cutesy. The beginning of the game features a lot of plain trees whose branches you can leap on; and clouds (that you can jump onto as well...be sure to check out the clouds near the beginning of the game). The first area is an enclosed "elf village" with what appear to be some kind of science fiction power fence topped with something like a camera eye. (Those will be explained to you, though I personally like the idea that they're relics of an ancient civilization and the elves just think they know what they're for). Friends include elves of all sorts and humans, most of whom are muddy in appearance, and Gorgimer the wizard, who looks like one of the other humans after a bath, and who is amazingly helpful, despite everyone else who has come into contact with him warning you otherwise (so we break with the Smurfs theme again). Enemies include "trolls" (they look like a combination of a bo-omb and a Chomp from Mario titles actually; little round balls that run very quickly if they spot you), springs (yes, springs, in a kind of tornado shape), bats, birds, and so on. Water is bad, spikes are bad. There are some really tricky jumps but there's enough health to go around later on in the game. There's lots of goodies later in the episode - very early on you'll have to watch your ammunition, and health is a concern throughout the episode, though there are lots of health-extending red potions (which you may have been reluctant to try out when you discovered what green potions do - and purple potions are essentially the same as a bunch of grapes).

What sets the game apart is the fighting system, which is actually rather inventive in a way. Pressing the up key cycles ammunition types - ammunition is limited to various types of berries. For whatever reason, berries that aren't food (like cherries or grapes) are growing flashbombs on this world. Against enemies, one (or two, for the tougher common types) is all you need to put them to sleep. Birds and bats fall from the air. Enemies patrolling a short ledge may fall off (fun to knock a mouse into the water where it will no longer hurt you, though of course it won't drown). Blue berries have a rather undependable homing function. Big red berries throw two small berries right in front of you, and two out in front of you at diagonals (very useful for the sole boss). Everything is autofire, and later on ammunition for the default red flash berries never went below 99 - apparently the game really counts higher than that but won't display above that amount. I didn't go around holding the fire button down but it was nice not to worry. There's also another type of berry, whose use is a bit of a spoiler and is revealed by a character.

So it wasn't the greatest thing ever, but it was interesting. My clear score was something like 15K - looking at the highscores list when I was done after an hour or two (it's pretty short, most of the time is spent in a maze later on) I noticed that all the other scores were from when I was having trouble back around 2000 points. So it's a bit regrettable that you can bypass most difficulty just by reloading in the same spot, but it's better than being on the edge of death and losing a lot of progress like in some other platformers (like Monster Bash - then again, that one seems more "console standard" while Elfland is more "PC standard" in their save approaches).

Not too bad a game actually. It's no Bio Menace or Monster Bash, but eh, what is? It's pretty simple graphically, and the gameplay design isn't completely to my liking, but it's relatively coherent and has some nice puzzles. The talking badguy (hint: a small one) was a nice discovery, and I discovered the hint about it later

That reminds me, I played through Gateworld - one of the G.O.R.G. (don't ask, I didn't care to remember) series, and it was every bit as frustrating as I remembered, but it went down pretty quickly. Again a shareware episode. There appears to have been a level or two missing that I remember - maybe there was a secret level entrance that I missed somewhere. God, what still strikes me about this game is how colorful and appealing all the goodies look, but then the levels are so incredibly frustrating. Jumping around a giant pegboard array of single-width platforms with spikes far below is a pretty common scenario in this game. There's also these seesaw things - which flip back and forth, and there's three kinds. You can only determine which each kind is by trial and error, of course. (This game makes you manually confirm you want to load every time you do, and it restarts the music, making the game doubly tedious in dangerous spots). One type just tips over when you walk to the high end (note: tipping over means that it goes from looking like / to \ ), another kind flips you into the air when you reach the end (and you can hold the jump button to get some serious jump height, as far as the level designer allows), and the last kind only changes when shot. Adding to that, there's plenty of hidden areas, usually distinguished only by the edge of the wall having a solid edge tile, but just the pattern inside repeated to the edge (hopefully that makes sense). Inside, there may be any manner of strange platform design and you have to jump blind all around the place to find whatever's inside.

There's plenty of strange things in the game as well. There's bucktoothed elf guys (called "Eloi," appropriately) that just push you along, there's big bouncing eye things (that can be ridden into hidden areas now and then, though they're aggravating to use because they're uncontrollable and their movements are random), there's repeating wall lasers (thank god for space + arrow keys), falling stalactites, floor spikes, fire that bursts from the floor out of nothing, grey stars that kill you (you can destroy them with three shots), giant green ant people that take about 10 shots to kill (feels like), and guys in purple shirts with thick glasses called a "brute" or something which remind me of the guy in GaijinPunch's avatar. They fall into a ridiculous looking heap when killed, and I think they also die when they touch you (only problem being that you die as well). There's a severe shortage of firepower early in the episode, which (like Elfland, actually) turns into more firepower than you'll use if you collect shot icons compulsively.

Captain Klondike (hurf) is pretty cutesy looking in-game, but in the cutscenes...oh god. Hard to like him after that.

The music is great - it was composed by some outside agency, and some of it sounds very familiar. Makes the game much more enjoyable than it could have been - well, the only problem is that they're short loops and every time you die or load it is restarted. Bummer.

How are you liking Fist of the North Star? It's my favorite anime, I just haven't had the cash (or the xbox) to pick it up lately.

Back to playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl again amongst the rest of the usual crap.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. For people who aren't fans of the series, it might be a bit hard to follow. Fans will probably enjoy it. Its one of my favorite series also.

It is kind of like Dynasty Warriors but better + Hokuto no Ken.
