Please can someone link as I am sure there must be a massive general thread for dodonpachi daioujou as I can't find it and I have tried hard.

Asking here as I don't want to create new thread just for this.

Thanks

Thanks.

Looks like it's 88 pages of "is the patch out yet", "the patch is not coming this week" , "the loading times are ridicules".

My copy got delivered this afternoon so I can't wait to get home to play this.

That's basically all that thread is, yeah.

But the important thing is that the filter you can't turn off on DOJ makes it look like shit. That's gotten less attention, but it is a busted port no matter how you look at it.

It's not busted in the only way that matters - it's far more arcade accurate than the ports Cave handled themselves, and it has native 4:3 support (although you have to turn your head to read the outer menu if you tate).

This is getting off-topic so I'll stop after this, but the PS2 port is better and I hate that the patch hasn't come out yet to fix that.

I play the PS2 version on the PS2 emulator more than I play the 360 one.......

This thread is for the 360 port of DDP DFK. Use the thread that Dave K was kind enough to link to for continuing the DOJ discussion (or better yet, just don't continue it, since this is all stuff that has been gone over several times already)

Optimistic. For whatever reason, I don't think there'll be 4:3 issues or shit like that... Cave probably knows that DFK is important and they likely don't want to bungle it.

Pessimistic. I do hope I'm proven wrong though. The 4:3 issue is make or break to me.

Worried, if it has borders I'm going straight to the usedTV store down the street and seeing if I can get a cheap 16:9 SD CRT with zoom function. I actually just walked by the place and peaked in but they were closed.

I really hope that I get my copy delivered at least by end of Friday so I can play it all weekend. Pre ordered from videogameimports.com first the first time and I am not sure how quick they are.

I hope it turns out well since the Dodonpachi series are their most important games. Let's pray for a true and very good 4/3 support. The Guwange fiasco caught me off guard.

I'm assuming it will be optimised for 16:9, just like Guwange - I really hope I'm wrong though as I use a 4:3 crt and would love to play it full screen. Maybe this is the future for Cave ports - I'm sure if M2 were handling it we wouldn't have much to worry about.

It's put a bit of a downer on looking forward to this actually. If it is screwed we'll have to bombard cave with yet more emails to try and save the Pink Sweet/Muchi port, as the complaints over Guwange are to recent to have any effect on this (if they have had any effect at all).

It's obviously a decision they've made and not something they forgot... It's the definition of stupid.

On the website it's not listed as being in stock until Friday - they're pretty fast though.

really hope that they put in an 4:3 option, i was sure guwange would have one so i bought it without testing/demoing it, my dfk was already preorderd at this time and i couldn't belive that they put out this game without proper 4:3 setting so i didn't cancel.
wasn't even thinking about this issue before i read the last posts in here.
anyway i hope and trust it will have it, otherwise it was my last blind buy of an cave stg.

Looks fine in 4:3 Tate and fills the screen:
- DoDonPachi Daioujou
- Ketsui
- DeathSmiles
- Mushihimesama Futari v1.5
- Espgaluda II

Forced Letterbox mode ruining 4:3 Tate play:
- DeathSmiles IIx
- Guwange

For Mushi Futari you can download the dlc from the normal marketplace using your UK Gamertag. For everything else you just need to create a JP Gamertag and log in with that. You cannot add points directly without a JP CC, so you'll need to buy them off Play-Asia or another importer.

Right. I'm optimistic about DFK because to date every SH3 game has been fine (even though only 2 of them were done by Cave themselves)

In any case, we'll probably know by tomorrow or Wendsday at the latest.

Hopefully the word spreads quickly from people living in Japan.

Part of me is optimistic that the whole DSIIX ratio issue was due to the main game mode being wide screen with arcade mode a last second add-on that they couldn't possibly have had time to perfect. Guwange being budget they had to cut corners (despite it being on partnernet for a good amount of time). So with DFK they have no excuse for there not being a proper 4:3 mode. Outside of that one worry I'm looking forward to playing DFK with an HD coat of paint and ver 1.51.

I think that you should know already but it looks like the game isn't out yet and needs a patch. Here are the details:http://www.cave-stg.com/?p=367

Hmm, looks like the patch fixes a bug that only happens if you don't install to the HDD. That won't be a problem for me at least.

New 360 game opening ceremonies for me: Install to the HDD, sit on the can and browse the instruction manual while it installs. :D

So, no japanese arcade slims at play asia. Guess i'll have to get an asian machine. Can anyone tell me if i need a socket adapter/travel plug to use on the step down converter they sell? Sorry about the randomness but dfk has sent me into buying frenzy and i cant afford costly mistakes... in fact it was only last week that i realised cave had released so many games on 360. Been away from the scene for the past year. Imagine my joy- and then my horror at the prospect of having to import a damn xbox. Anyway, apart from a socket adapter, there wont be any problems using asian machine, right?

I was about to suggest NCS if you live in the US, but it seems they don't have any Arcade units in stock (though it's worth shooting them an email at ncsx@msn.com asking about it in case I failed to find it in both their storefronts). But otherwise, a lot of questions about import 360 ownership are answered in the sticky at Hardware - basically, you don't even need a step-down converter if you just use a compatible power brick from your own region instead of the one the console ships with.

Mental note: Never buy any second hand games from Jeneki. :P

Play-asia have charged my credit card for this yesterday so hopefully they will ship it out soon. Now I just need a J360. :)

I play on a widescreen TV so I can't be sure what you guys are talking about, but I'm pretty certain Guwange only has forced widescreen because it's an XBLA title. There's black bars even on my widescreen TV.

Super Meat Boy and Pac Man CE DX both have widescreen borders, so I'm pretty sure it's just some sort of standard set by Microsoft.

You might be talking about something else, but I hope that helps ease your mind. I certainly don't think Cave will pull any stupid nonsense with their flagship franchise.

I'm just hoping the arrange modes aren't as boring as Futari and ESPgaluda II arrange.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is an XBLA title and has no problems switching itself to 4:3 when you enter gameplay.

It's a 4:3 game so it should have black bars on a 16:9 display.

There is no reason for a 4:3 game to have black bars on all 4 sides when used on a 4:3 display.
