Instruction-Strip from Esp Ra.De. for Candycab?

Post by Drachenherz »

edit: Please look at newest post.

I'm looking for some nice artwork to put on my HRAP3, and I'd love to put on some Esp Ra.De. Art.

Unfortunately, I haven't found any, or at least not in usable resolutions. I'd prefer some monochromatic art, like in the "cutscenes" between levels, because of the colour of the buttons... (I changed the stock hori buttons with some black and white sanwa ones.)

If anybody could redirect me to a nice place on the web where I could find such artworks, it would be very much appreciated.

And btw, feel free to move this thread if I have posted it in the wrong subforum.

Cheers.

Cave Shooting has some material, but most of the stuff is low res: http://www.world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Es ... sprade.htm

Can't really help you apart from that, I'm afraid...

Thank you so much! There's quite some usable material here, I'll browse through it and whip something up in photoshop!

GP, thanks for the link! Nice Artworks on your page...

You don't have a pic of your Stick by any chance?

(Now, this sounded somewhat wrong... )

Yeah, I had to read it a few times. :) The stick w/ the ESPRade art is long gone. I use a 9000TB now (and for the few times I'm on the 360, the Hori RAP). Nothing exotic in the least.

Gaijin, are there any pics of the black/white images, which appear when you finish a stage in Esp, in your book?

I'd love to put some art of the alice clones on the stick, in the lower part of the middle... Plus one b/w pic of yusuke on the left, and an Esp.Ra.De. Logo on the upper part in the middle... And maybe a hint of the evil Lady in Red on the right side of the stick...

Any chance you happen to have some good quality pics of those mentioned above? if yes, I'd paypal you a few bucks if you could scan them for me. :-)

I think click_stick (holy cow, anyone know where he went? He was EOJ before EOJ was EOJ) had some hi-res scans of that mag GP linked to on his old site. If anyone archived that stuff before it went away (such a shame :() it would be nice to throw it all on photobucket or some other host.

I have the mag, but my scanner is not set up at the moment :?

I have the click-stick archive, and could only find Gamest scans of ESPRade strategy.

Anyway, the Gamest Graphics mag (which I also have) is motsly b/w pencil sketches, none are high resolution images of those cutscenes. There are some nice color pics, but they are not large, and pretty much same quality as those already found here.

[update]After some more scrounging around the click-stick archive (its not really organized), I found some of the ESPRade pencil sketches, but they are low resolution 320x240 sized. [/update]

Thanks Dave!

For the b/w sketches of the book, I found a kind source who provided me with the scans. Actually, those b/w sketches are exactly what I wanted for my arcadestick. Now, I just need to hone my photoshop-skills...

I'll keep you posted with the progress of this project. The endresult should be a stylish "understatement-like" artwork with black and white buttons and white balltop. :-)

Working on the template right now... Boy, it's tedious work, but if I'm patient enough to work seriously on it, I'm in for a pretty stylish treat. :)

And yes, I'll post a pic of the WIP soon.

That looks like a nice piece for a stick. I'd change the CAVE logo though to one without a white box: http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/cave-co

I'd go with clear buttons and use them to save the artwork.

Thanks for the feedback. Although my hrap3 has rather newish black and white sanwa buttons, I'll bite the bullet and go for the clear buttons. With this artwork, it'd be a shame wasting so much of it.

Btw, if anybody is interested, I could put a copy of the psd online. But mind you, it's rather large.

Edit: Oh boy, this is going to be sooooo rad! I just ordered the clear buttons and a clear, white Balltop! And a clear dustwasher, btw.... :D

I agree with the clear button choice - unless you rearrange the art a bit around the buttons. The stick area is very good, and something that is often overlooked.

psd file, yes please :)

Rearranging the art would be a little pain in the ass... ^^ Okay, I'll post the psd, but I'm a bit ashamed... hehe, if you see the large version, you'll see that I'm actually quite the Photoshop-nOOb... Oh well, I'm stoked about the result anyway. After hours of clicking single pixels, I grew very fond of the artwork *lol*.

Motherf.... how can it be? The .psd is 54 mb large!!! I compressed it and it's still 30 mb!!! Seriously, how did that happen? I mean, the images I used in the psd were a total of about 8 mb, not more... ?

Hrmpf, now if have to figure where and how I could post this...

Okay, unfortunately I didn't manage to shrink the psd any more than 30 mb... :-( At the moment, I cannot host it. But if it helps, here is a very large jpeg version of the artwork, maybe you can use it to your leisure. It's 3 mb, so here's only the link:

http://www.drachenherz.ch/components/co ... _final.jpg

Edit: Just noticed: The "aspect ratio" of the picture is still 38.1 cm x 22.86 cm, the same of the psd-original... so if you want to, you could print this and pop it on your stick... ^^

Enjoy. And don't laugh to hard at the details...

You can't move the Woman lower a bit so the home button doesn't block her head and hat?

She's in the "Alice-Clone" Picture... I'd have to cut her out, move her and smooth the edges... So it would be quite some effort - her head isn't to pretty anyway, so it doesnt matter... :-P

(In other words: I was too lazy for another X hour of work. But you are right, yes... *gg*)

edit: but I have an idea about how to use the artwork on my hrap to actually see her face... :-)

The printouts (I ordered 3 just to be safe...) have arrived today... And I think I just came a little: they turned out better than I could have ever hoped for.

Oh boy oh boy I can't wait for the buttons to arrive and finish the stick

On the lookout again for some CAVE-Art for EspRaDe.

Do scans of an EspRaDe Instruction-Stripe (you know, the one that goes on the CP on a cab) exist?

If yes, could somebody kindly direct me to them?

Pretty please? I'd love to give my Cab the complete EspRaDe finish, and I promise to put up some pics if I succeed in doing so. :-D

I think I did one for E.S.P. Ra.De. a while back. I'll have a look for you.

Edit:

Let me know if that one is interesting, and I'll upload it for you when I get home.
