Whats with the search engine bots?

I've noticed this for the longest time. Are these actual users or are search engines that desperate to give shoot em ups exposure?

They're a standard part of phpBB. To my knowledge they exist to make board indexing easier on search engines.

phpBB has seperate permissions for identified bots (removing the reply/email buttons and the like), and also tossed them onto the board legend by default when they're here.
