Arcade games that should've got a home port
I'm still pretty pissed off at Sega for not doing an Xbox port of Virtua Cop 3 or a Dreamcast port of Jambo Safari or Scud Race.
So I was just wondering, what arcade games do you Think should have got a home port?
Or, if you like, games that were released but ended up being a bit shitty compared to the arcade version.

Black Tiger
Shit load of Toaplan shmups
A strider-like game by the people who developed Strider (can't recall the name)
Is there a good port of assault yet? (dual sticks on the ps2 would make it perfect).
The toaplan packs I think are going to resolve a lot of the games that might otherwise be on this list.

I agree! That game was fun as hell. I was surpirsed at how many GNet games actually made it to the PS/PS2... I never thought RC de Go would make it over, and I sure as hell never thought it'd come out in the US. Man, I love that gameoxtsu wrote:Just received Chaos Heat and it's pretty damn fine action-shooting. Definitely should have received a port to PSX or PS2 (original G-Net hardware is closely related).

But yea..Chaos Heat..I haven't played that in years. Fun times.

I still hope somewhere in the back of my head that someday, somehow, there will be a Vasara Deluxe Pack...almost certainly not gonna happen though. A Cyvern home port would be nice too.
Aside from that there are plenty of shmups from Cave (Ketsui, ESP Ra.de, Guwange, Feveron), Raizing (Bakraid, Batrider, Dimahoo), and Psikyo (Space Bomber, Strikers III) that a lot of people here would love to see ported, of course. Ah well, one can't have everything...

I'm gonna be boring and say Dangun Feveron and Ketsui. Oh, and R-Type "Bastard Child" Leo would be nice, too.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Yeah, I know, but I still think it should have gotten another home port. Also, I know Simpsons Arcade was ported to PC, but I listed it anyway since it should have gotten another port. I also listed Black Tiger since it was only ported to home computers and no consoles.Stormwatch wrote:Actually, it was ported to the FM Towns Marty.BrianC wrote:Truxton II

Oh don't even get me started. Those fing bastards at Sega; I could strangle necks. There was no reason not to port VC3 considering it was on Chihuro hardware and would of required no more than a 3 man crew and less than a month of time.theevilfunkster wrote:I'm still pretty pissed off at Sega for not doing an Xbox port of Virtua Cop 3
EEEEK! I meant the taito packs.yojo! wrote:which pack are you talking about ?. there is only one so far (toaplan vol 1) by banpresto, but is any new one announced ?CMoon wrote: The toaplan packs I think are going to resolve a lot of the games that might otherwise be on this list.

Sega Strike Fighter. (NAOMI -> Dreamcast... c'mon!)
Sega Rally 2 was a pretty half-assed port.
Super GT (a.k.a. - Scud Race, I suppose)
Planet Harriers would've been nice...
Hell, pretty much any mid/late 90's Sega arcade game that never got a home port (or a good home port).
ESP Ra.De. and Ketsui, of course.
Edit - Damn! Completely slipped my mind to mention the Raiden Fighters games and Viper Phase 1. I would've loved to have seen those on any system that could have handled a competent port...

Yeah, half assed ports -
Sega Touring cars on the Saturn, just awful to the point of being completely unplayable. Shame really because thay put so much extra stuff it but forgot to make the handling any good and the framerate and glitchyness of the graphics made you feel sick.
House of the Dead, still very playable but looked like shit.
Sega Rally 2, what the hell happened here? Just terrible.
X Men Vs Street Fighter PS1, HA HA HA!!!

I have Simpsons Arade for the PC. It's quite a good port too... Very low DOS VGA res & sound blaster support.
1944 (This with 1941,1942,1943 would have been a nice PS-2 collection disc)
Age of Heroes (This cool beat em up isn't emulated by mame. It's the sequel of "The Legend of Silkroad")
Alien Vs Predator (PS-1/ Saturn port)
Carrier Airwing (for the PS-1 or Saturn)
Cadillacs & Dinosaurs (Saturn)
Dimahoo (PS-2)
Crystal of Kings
Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder
Oriental Legends
The Legend of Silkroad
Macross SDF (sound isn't supported in MAME yet
so a console port would have been greatly welcomed)
Scud Race (All time favorite racer, along side Daytona USA. Don't know if the Dreamcast could have handled this though... ideal for PS-2 & X-box)
Varth (This would have been a great SNES port, like the rest of the CPS-1 games ported to the SNES)
Violent Storm (Kick ass Konami Beat Em Up with cool music. Probably the best music in any beat em up. It would have been perfect on the Saturn)
Virtua Fighter 3 (3tb on he DC doesn't count because it sucked. But it would have been perfect for PS-2 or X-Box)
Warriors of Fate (SNES)
Warrior Blade
X-Men

I thought I saw this one part of the taito pack (european or jap)ST Dragon wrote: Violent Storm (Kick ass Konami Beat Em Up with cool music. Probably the best music in any beat em up. It would have been perfect on the Saturn)
