Help with Robo Aleste- Sega CD

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

I get to the guardian of the train stage and I blow off his arms and such but I can't for the life of me hurt him after that. What do I need to do to finish the bastard off? Are enemies weak to certain weapons in this game?

Overall with case and manuel it was worth every one of my 15 dollars.

One other question, are the 4 games listed in the Xenocide Files the only sega CD shmups? I have only 4 games for Sega CD never liked the system as a kid but now I do. (Although I find the opening tune quite depressing.)

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

May I recommend Keio Flying Squadron! Its a great game, though it be a cute them up. One cool feature is that in the options menu, you are able to move your hit box. Really nice feature to tailor to your game play style!

Android Assult (Bari-Arm) is also a good game in the Thunder Force kind of way.

I was hoping that there would be more the Genesis had like 30 or so....

For this boss, you have to fight three forms...

#1- The two arms that it whips around (which you know about)
#2- On its back, there are two canisters that have guns popping up out them regularly. They fire in a three-way shot. You have to destroy both of these.
#3- Its head fires a laser back and forth in a sweeping pattern. You have to destroy the head.

Ah Ok I was shooting the canisters and I think the sound channel was being blocked off from time to time so I'll give it another try. 8)

Bump.
What are differences between Dennin Aleste and Robo Aleste? I suppose the gameplay and graphics are identical(?), but I'd like to know whether or not there was any voice acting in Dennin Aleste and if it was, what happened to it during the localisation process. I can live even with US dub if it's as good as in Keio Flying Squadron, just wanted to know about all differences.

There is voice acting in Robo Aleste and Dennin Aleste. The US dub is pretty good, especially the intro narration. Some stages have cutscenes after them which are pretty well acted on the behalf of the voice cast. Haven't seen the Japanese version but I'd assume it does have voice acting as well.

Yeah, the US intro sounds decent. The thing is, just when you're about to admit them US dubs can be not too bad, it turns out they replaced Norio Wakamoto's voice with Some Dude's™. USA might be one hell of a country, but they don't have Norio Wakamoto over there. Admittedly, they commited the Castle Shikigami 2 thing, which is nearly as adorable, in a way.

Ahhh Robo Alesta, killer game with music that got me raving around in my room as a kid. I think this game basically got me into dance music. 8)

The only thing I wish they kept from Musha is being able to take a hit and lose your weapon instead of one hit kill. Still haven't beat the game after all these years.

Yeah, Robo Aleste is much much harder than MUSHA. And a better game overall.
I suffered a lot to get the clear. :?

I didn't like Robo Aleste too much. Like all Compile games they are just too long and just flat out easy for the most part. I think MUSHA is a better game even if it easy and long.

Compile shmups have Fun Weapons™, though. I just can't get enough of those.
Robo Aleste has greater input lag (about the level of Seirei Senshi Spriggan) than Musha Aleste. Just sayin'.
