GnG collection, Sat vs PS1?

Post by Strider77 »

I was wondering what, if any, differences there were between the GnG's collection on the saturn and PS1. I remeber that the saturn version did not fill the TV screen (had black bars on the screen) when I played it along time ago.

Are there slow down issues ect also? Does the PS1 version fill the entire viewing area?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I've had to play the PSX one on emulation, I didn't notice any black bars along the sides though (I own both versions), the Saturn Ghouls has between levels loading, you'll be looking at a Now Loading screen for a few seconds. No slowdown issues with Super Ghouls N Ghosts or any of the other 2, the games play quite nicely.

Only difference I could tell was the resolution. I would get the version for whichever console is more convenient for you.

I never had any resolution issues apart from Super gng which has a strange SNES resolution and is actually a bad port on both systems. But you can put your tv to 16:9 and then it´s ok-ish again.
I´d get the ps version because you´ll be able to play it on a ps3 now or in the future and have an awesome upscaled image!
AFAICT both versions are the same.

That's what it was... it was SGnG that had the the black bars.... so that is the same for both the sat and PSX?

I'm speaking from memory here so could be wrong but I think the PS1 version had better loading times and no loading screens whereas they are in the saturn version.

I don't run low res stuff with the PS3... I use the XRGB. Some noted that some of the paralax is hard to see on the PS1 version versus the saturn vers.
