I'm not begging for any assistance but if you guys want to save me some time finding a solution, I would be thankful. Heres the problem...
I can't run any Neo Geo games on my Arcade emulator (MAME). I use mame136.
Also, I'm having trouble getting Salamander 2 to work, I keep getting the red box saying it can't find a ROM or CHD file.

Ahh... Well the only games that still don't work are Brave Blade and Aero Fighters 2
Wonder if there are working versions I can find or they are dead roms.
Edit: Also I still can't get Salamander 2 to work. I dled the JAA version
This is what happens when I try to load the ROM on MAME.

You do need the correct rom for each version of Mame. Using rom sites are pritty shitty cos all the rom revisions are jumbled up and are usually outdated. Best just to find a torrent rom pack. For example shmupmame laggless edition uses the same roms as mame 1.47 (or is it 1.37?) so youll need a 1.47 rom pack, chances are youll get the bios files included aswell

Let salamander 2 get to that screen again
Hold F2 (test) and push F3 (reset)
Continue to hold F2 until you see "Eeprom Initialize Complete"
Release F2
Play Salamander 2.
All Konami GX games need an EEPROM erase after swapping games, or when EEPROM contents are bad, which is what 22D/M is (The EEPROM used for NVRAM)

I couldn't get Brave Blade to work either (and only became aware of its existence cos of this thread so thanksJGcontraman wrote:Ahh... Well the only games that still don't work are Brave Blade and Aero Fighters 2![]()

I think you'll find its the TPS BIOS that's required.

I got Brave Blade to work, needed to dl tps.zip
Credit goes to dieKatze88 to get my Salamander 2 rom to work
And man, this game is fucking awesome, it was time well spent trying to crack this shit to work.
Edit:
Get back at me about Aero Fighters 2, still trying to find a working rom.

Re: Troubleshooting issues: Neo Geo games on MAME & Salamander 2
My personal advice is to use an older version of MAME for specific games. Faster, and your romset is more likely to work, due to many sources still having sets from the .12x and .11x series releases.
[protip: I use .128, especially because it's the last version that runs RSG at playable speeds]
Also, check MAWS to see if a romset depends on another. Be warned, it updates with the latest MAME, so naming mightn't be valid for you, but it usually helps.
PS: Brave Blade does need the TPS BIOS rom: http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/tps
edit: whoops, someone else got it
Relating to Aero Fighters, look at the CRC32s and see if the files are just named differently than MAWS has it: http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/sonicwi2

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Re: Troubleshooting issues: Neo Geo games on MAME & Salamander 2
Yea, when I try to play Brave Blade or Salamander 2, it feels as if the frame rate is moving slower than it should, slightly slower. If I dl an older version, would that be fixed? Also, would if affect the speed of other games I have (I'm sure it would but im just curious). They seem to be two of the few roms I have that move ata slower rate than normal.
Edit: What do you mean by CRC32s, do you mean the files within the compressed folder?
