Could you explain that a bit more or take a pic? I also run my 360 through the Emotia into my cab and setting the resolution to 848x480 removes the bars left and right but then I have bars on top and bottom and the image is displayed in the wrong aspect ratio.drunkninja24 wrote:I did find a roundabout way of getting the game fullscreen on my cab. Just went into Guwange's display settings from there, and was able to get it to go fullscreen. Just a thought for anyone using VGA, this may help you.

hmm that's wierd. I haven't gone into arcade mode that much to say. Can you post the video of this?

Re: Guwange 360
While that YT vid is publicity for Cave the main fact is that its been passed off as a how 2/ walkthrough video, Atm its the only 360 guwange videos up on youtube atm, meaning that mainstream gamers will see that video, see the creditfeeding and think thats how you play the game, they themselves play the game credit feeding to the end and walk away from the game thinking it beaten. And thats another gamer who thinks shmups are easy to beat (some even think thats what a 1CC is), overpriced, short and shallow games that is riddled with bad game design and totally out dated. And without fans like us banging on about it (since Cave and co arnt addressing the problem) who can blame them? epecially as most gamers will always use the quickest to finish as game so they can play the next game on their ever expanding must play pile (with many games unfinished anyway)
@ Cave and other shmup devs, If your reading this, please for the love of god stop using unlimited continues, while they are a handy training tool and it keeps arcade accuracy. A better system would be to use Ikarugas system where unlimited credits unlock after a so many hours of gameplay which forces players to spend enough time with the game that theyre satisfied. Which means they might buy another shmup and be more open to paying more for it aswell.
Infact as this is your first low priced mass market shmup, where many newcommers will be forming their own opinions about Cave and other shmups. Ild say its as important to release a patch to fix this is just as important as a fullscreen fix
(hell i know i basically just made the same point on another thread but atleast this has a chance of been seen by cave, plus its an important topic for this game imo)
EDIT BTW is that vid a kusoplay? in that its the total opposite of a superplay that its almost a joke. Or is kusoplay supposed to be a video that while not up to the standard of a true superplay still retains a decent level of skill and has aspects that are new and fresh to whats already available? If its the latter that would make most of the you tube shmup vids Kusoplays (not that detracts from the worth of these vids)

You'll have to move the game window around to get it right. It's going to be off center by default like this. Rotate it, recenter it on your screen, then zoom it in.antares wrote:Could you explain that a bit more or take a pic? skykid is right. The thing that makes it ridiculous is that it's called an "educational" video on how to pass stages in Guwange. If he had just said this is a video of me playing Guwange, and by the way I suck, then that would be the end of it, and no one would be talking about it.

I don't see the word "educational" being used by the uploader anywhere on that YouTube page.

if you actually watch the videos you can hear him blab on about it being education at the beginning of every vid
i really dont give a shit as long as more people start caring about this stuff so developers will continue to create games that we can enjoy OUR way. let others enjoy the game any way they want..as long as they dont call it shitty for being too short. thats just fucking stupid.

Oh, right. I didn't watch with the sound on. But yeah, if people want to credit-feed their way through a game, and they get some fun out of it, then that's entirely up to them. They paid for it, they can play however the fuck they want. A lot of people buying XBLA games (especially cheap ones like Guwange) probably don't expect to get much out of such a cheap game anyway. A lot of people would (rightly) consider 30 to 60 minutes worth of entertainment for a mere $10 to be pretty good value. Given that you can blast through $10 in less than 20 seconds in a bar, 30 minutes to an hours worth a entertainment from a video game for the same amount is actually excellent value.

Just because you don't enjoy playing that way doesn't mean nobody else does. It might not be a particularly sophisticated form of play, but if the person playing wants to keep things simple, and they're enjoying themselves, then so be it. There are plenty of skilled players who credit feed their way through a game. Some to practice, some to see what's in the later stages, see the ending(s), hear the music, etc.

As long as they don't go apeshit online telling everybody the game is OMG "too short, TOO EASY, has no replay value, blah blah blah" that's ok.bcass wrote:Just because you don't enjoy playing that way doesn't mean nobody else does. Otherwise I'd glady torch'em Jigsaw Saw 3D style.

I posted a video a few days ago just showing off the menu. There's a few minutes of actual game play. I'm not trying to play well at all, but if you pay attention you'll see the first few ground soldiers are killed with C-Shot and do not drop coins.Tyjet wrote:njiska wrote:So anyone else notice coins aren't dropped the same as they are on the PCB? Ive tried the demo and mwa, it is not my game.
Last run and gun game i loved was LSA squad. They should bring that one out on xboxlive, next gen grafix and let it loose, i think it is a taito game.

it's because the skull counter is not filled up for the ememies to drop coins. You started off shooting only at the soldiers and the counter begins to fill. I just played arcade mode and there were no problems.njiska wrote:if you pay attention you'll see the first few ground soldiers are killed with C-Shot and do not drop coins.

It's just like the millionth time you repeat yourself.
And you still don't seem to understand that nobody is complaining
about the fact that some dude is credit feeding the game.

People, I honestly find the lack of a 2P mode in Blue Arrange more irksome than any of the problems listed so far (especially the one about the forced 16:9 aspect ratio issue, and also the lack of 4:3 support, and the border issue, and lest we not forget the 16:9 aspect ratio issue).
They probably considered a 2P mode for 360 Arrange but a few of their game testers suffocated in the process.

So we could consider this a triumph for achievements? Since credit feeding the game means you cannot grab them.

You can grab most of them by credit feeding. Using continues in offline mode allows you to get each of the character complete achievements.cools wrote:So we could consider this a triumph for achievements? Since credit feeding the game means you cannot grab them.

I think it's pretty awesome, myself. It really says it all; about the current state of this hobby, it's fans and the people that make the games. The games are old and recycled, the fans are impossible to please, and the companies still can't do anything right.

Re: Guwange 360
Well.....we were all pleased with the Ketsui port. Most were pleased with Futari's too.
Galuda II and DS got grief for having different slowdown from the PCBs, so there's some mixed feelings on that one.
Guwange could just get 4:3 support, and I think everyone would shut their mouths.
I'm not so intense on the slowdown differences as a lot of folks are(probably because i've never touched the PCBs), so i've been pleased with all of these ports. I'm just baffled at Guwange's lack of 4:3 support.
I don't think we're impossible to please. We just expect a few basic things.

Well, it matters. I didn't like their ports for DP or DDP for the Saturn. And their ports for Mushi and Ibara were pretty crappy. But I think they've gotten MUCH better. Unless you're a stickler for PCB slowdown.

Re: Guwange 360
Accurately simulating PCB slowdown is only important if you want to compete against people playing PCBs. That's a tiny minority of the userbase. Not making a significant portion of your paying customers play the game in a window the size of a postage stamp should be higher up on the list of priorities IMO.
