Well i was looking forward to this for the leaderboards and training mode (does it have training?) but if the 4.3 Tate is fucked then i wont bother , Ill stick to my PCB

Ive never even fired up my DSII for this reason alone , I want to be able to play these games as if they were arcade PCBs ? is this to much to ask for an "ARCADE" port

I have no fucking idea what anyone is complaining about in regards to 4:3. Like, seriously, no clue what the argument is.

I'm on an old CRT, and I haven't had any issues at all. I just went into the options and expanded the play area until the top and bottom of the playscreen were at the top and bottom of my TV like every other vertical shooter I've played that lets me do that. So, uh, what's the issue here? I don't notice any bars, seriously.

Your TV must have some sort of auto-fill mode then. I'm playing on a 20" Sony Trinitron, and even sitting on top of the damn thing it's giving me eye strain ("try sitting in front of it then, werhey!"). Seriously, the text is barely legible and the play area miniscule, thanks to massive borders. On the other hand, I'd still say it was worth the money. :)

Can we start another thread where the only talk allowed is about the blue label and general gameplay mechanics...?

This screen crap is getting old fast. We all know about it, we don't need to know about it anymore. Especially those who have 16x9 TVs we don't tate. If your not in that camp you know about the issue now anyway.

I still have no clue about the blue label and it's gameplay.... I really miss cave-stg.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

True, We dedicated allot of time and energy into mastering these games and these kind of dick moves by Cave can spoil that. Out of curiosity I wonder just how lower the highscores are gonna be due to some ppl spending less time with the game, Its just something we'll never know :?

No DL games are listed in the sales charts
Bummer, how many highscore entries are they atm?

For the average gamer, Guwange plays fine.
For some of us, it's a broken game because it doesn't allow us to input our names in high scores or because it doesn't display how we want it in CRT TVs (a dead technology for what it's worth these days). If I told this to any of my gamer friends they would say I'm retarded.

As for the game, I'm not disappointed, mainly because my 360 is hooked to a LCD set and this is the first time I'm seeing it. I've yet to play it, but I kinda liked what I saw in 5 minutes.
Thumbs fucking up.

"Guys, don't you dare criticize products. By the way, I never fucking bothered even booting Guwange in mame so I should tell you!"

How about you don't post at all ever?

"The average gamer does not care!"

The average gamer...wait, what? If a random guy even bothers downloading this (he has no reason to, btw, due to lack of screenshots etc) he will either be confused why the game takes a 5th of his screen (lol hidden screen stretching option) or wonder why the fuck they still release space invaders on the XBOX and delete.

I'm a retard too because I finally bought it. I could just emulate it on the same TV for a more enjoyable (as in: I can actually see shit) experience. If I liked guwange and game long chaining, that is.

I can't wait for dangun really, but people should complain, a lot. This shouldn't go. This is the reason we all keep CRT setups. And no, there's not much to discuss in terms of gameplay because this is still Guwange, even with a little tweaked arrange mode, which I'm sure most people here won't play much because it's easier.

You came to a very niche forum and you see geeks complaining about stuff that seem trivial to you? Stop the presses!

Yes. I seriously felt like a Call of Duty fan when I played the trial. Strange feeling, thanks Cave.

Seriously. This thread is horrible now. Anyone who actually wants to get information on this game is going to have to scroll through 8 pages of personal attacks, japanese language discussion, and arguments if "this" and "that" matters or not. Bah.

Shouldn't strategies be posted in the Strategy section? Can't see anything wrong with the current discussions in this thread, given that we're in SHMUPS CHAT.

There's only one thing worse than people moaning on the internet: people moaning about people moaning.

Bravo. You just did it yourself. Let's add a couple of more pages of this to the already 8+

Already complained to cave about the 4:3 issue, but I already made the mistake of purchasing this, assuming they wouldn't mess up something this trivial. Unfortunately for the consumer, $$ speak much louder than words.

However one feature that is great in this port, and I'd like to see in the future is the save/load your game at any point in time. Not so much to save your progress, but more like save-state practicing that is already been in place in emulators forever. The inclusion of a practice mode that lets you choose mid-bosses also makes this not as needed, but being able to practice and reload at any point in the game (with powerup and gold/gems/whatever values at naturally progressed values instead of manually entering them in a practice mode each time) is a great addition.

Yes, because before all the recent newcomers, bitchfests about ideal screen setups were a welcomed topic to endlessly rant about. Not everyone seems to understand that this is the CHAT board, if you want to talk about other things, go to strategy or hi-score, etc.

What is more of an embarrassment is that the leading shmup developer can't make a proper port of a decade old game that fits the screen properly and doesn't meet the expectations of people who essentially keep em in business.

Anyway, I just got to see the tail end of stage 6 right before the final boss in Blue Label for the first time! :D
Wondering if Arcade mode has a full-health item in stage 6 too, I never could get this far before.

There's a full-health item dropped by one of the last spiders to appear in the 'squeeze' section in the original arcade version.

Why is this thread an embarrassment ? I found it to be informative and its saved me a bit of cash unless they release a patch for 4.3

You should be able to play this game on a Arcade CRT monitor just like the original otherwise IMO theres no point , Whats embarrasing is people dont want to talk about technical errors with these games and are happy to play them in some fucked up HDTV 16.9 state

I'm still seeing region lock bitching all over this. Whenever anyone even thinks about commenting that topic, they're immediately directed towards "that thread". Someone ought to start a similar thread for this
I hope it gets fixed for those who are affected, and that future ports a made properly, but endless moaning about it doesn't help. From what I understand, CAVE has been laserbombed left, right and center with requests to fix it, so they know about the issue(s).
Let's all move along, do something that makes you happy instead :D

How about listening to the new piece of music in Guwange? That is just stunning. I would love to have that as an mp3. How about it CAVE?
The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.

I agree, what I dont understand is that many of those bitching just moan and make no effort to discuss any strategy in this thread or in any other thread. I would of thought theres ample enough of these ppl to compile a full strategy guide
