You should do a short stop in San Antonio and crash for the night in Austin.

Change of plans. Instead of going to New Orleans we're heading the other way and doing a roadtrip through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and a little part of Utah. Our plan is to visit Houston, San Antonio, Big Bend, Marfa, Roswell, White Sands, Monument valley Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and a few other places. In other words there will be a lot of driving. But we're switching between drivers so it should be ok.

Any tips of things to see around those places? We could defintly use with some tips regarding Vegas

When I drove out to Montana in 2005, I stopped at most of these places. One thing you need to remember when you are out West, especially if you leave the interstate, is to always have at least a half a tank of gas.

You will be in some extremely remote areas, sometimes not seeing a gas station for 100 miles or more. You definitely do not want to run out of gas in one of these locations.

Utah is a particularly beautiful state, however, most of the population center resides in the wasatch valley in the Northern region around Salt Lake City. In Southern Utah, Arches National Park and Zion National Park should not be missed.

If you really want to embark on an adventure, drive up to Yellowstone NP in Western Wyoming. It is one of the most unique parks (and the oldest) in the US. I only had a day to spend there, but there is so much to see that a day wasn't enough.

Thanks for the tips! Yellowstone is a littel far off I'm afraid, but I hope to visit there some other time. We'll make sure to always carry a spare tank of gas with us. Do you have any cool tips regarding Vegas as well?

Did anyone see that episode of Top Gear where they drove through the south with left leaning and pro-gay slogans written on their cars? Almost got their asses handed to them at some gas station when a truck full of good 'ol boys pulled up. HI-larious.

Drive into Vegas at night. Really, this is one of the dopest places I've ever been. Be sure to check out Freemont St. the over head projection is unreal! There is allot to just walk around and see, plus it's the only place you will see a few arcades. Have fun! I hope you enjoy your trip to America!

Well, I'm back. We had a great time to say the least. By far the best trip I've ever been on, the Ufo arcade was awesome and we even found some cabs out in the wild as well. Sadly we missed visting Phoenix due to lack of time.

We sure did, it was quite a detour for us to get there as well. Not sure if it was really worth it though.

We saw a lot of lights moving back and forth to the right of viewing spot. The town itself was really weird, lots of high-end artsy restaurants and places. Didn't really feel like Texas at all.

If I can pick three favorites from the trip it was NASA in Houston, Mesa Verde and Very large array. But almost everything was jaw-droppingly awesome.
