ESPGaluda II and 16:10
I have a 16:10 monitor, and in Yoko ESPGaluda II looks pretty skinny.
Ketsui and Futari are kind enough to have a 16:10 option, that makes the screen a little fatter(the way it would look in Tate).
ESPGaluda II does have the option to manually expand it horizontally and vertically, seperately from each other.
Does any eggheads on here know how I should exactly go about expanding the image(exact numbers on the V and H) to put it in it's proper ratio, and not in skinny-vision?

Why are you surprised? 16:9 LCDs have only recently overtaken 16:10 in the PC market. I find 16:9 to be pretty annoying for PC use actually.stryc9 wrote:I'm not the egghead with the numbers that your after, but I was surprised. a 16:10 display?

<RegalSin> It does not matter, which programming language you use, you will be up your neck in math.
Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
I ghettoed this. Put Futari on the screen, and mark the corners somehow. Run Galuda and expand to fit these marks.
Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
I had this problem with a few games due to using a 16:10 monitor, too. I ended up just working it out manually; you'll want to be stretching the game along the x axis to 111% compared to 100% along the y axis, if I remember correctly. It looks fine like that, I think (though I'm hardly an expert).

Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
Well, damn. This is frustrating and annoying as hell.
I popped in Ketsui and Ikaruga, and it is definitely 111 X, as a previous poster stated. So, EspGaluda II is now looking right. However, Futari doesn't have it where I can manually adjust the X and Y, and it is not as wide. And Guwange...well, those options are grayed out.
So, is the only way to ever get the exact aspect ratio on all games is in Tate, or is that screwed up too?

Futari has a seperate option for aspect ratio; go into the 'Maniac' screen settings, and press A on the Layout Setting option. You'll see some more advanced options, with the ability to change the aspect ratio to 16:10 among them.evil_ash_xero wrote:Well, damn. This is frustrating and annoying as hell.

Can't comment on Guwange as I haven't got it yet.

Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
Yeah, it does have the 16:10 option, but it's still not as wide as Ikaruga in 16:10 or Ketsui in 16:10.
And you can tell that it's thinner than it should be, because as soon as you rotate the screen, it fattens out some.
I need some kind of rotating LCD base or something. This sucks.

Me three. It's just too narrow.austere wrote:Me too.I find 16:9 to be pretty annoying for PC use actually.
Rotating is the Best option. If the display is detachable from it's base you should be able to find a replacement. Most new LCD monitors seem to have a rotating stand as stock.evil_ash_xero wrote:Yeah, it does have the 16:10 option, but it's still not as wide as Ikaruga in 16:10 or Ketsui in 16:10.

I'm absolutely going to look into that. I have a topic up in the hardware section. I really want a rotating display now. That's the only way to fix this problem completely, it seems.

Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
What connection type are you using? When I had my 360 attached via VGA, 16:10 resolutions were selectable from the console settings as of late 2008/early 2009 (adding a letterbox to create a 16:9 display frame). Using an HDMI->DVI adapter/cable could provide similar results if HDMI alone doesn't do something similar.

Which resolution should I choose?

What res is the display? Generally you'll want to be as close to native as you can.evil_ash_xero wrote:Which resolution should I choose?

Actually, I got that 16:9 display that he was talking about now. It has the letterbox at the top and bottom, making my tiny shmupping area even smaller. blah
I just ordered a swiveling stand, so this should be moot in a few days.

I don't think tate is going to exactly solve the problem - you're still going to have the issue where it's going to be stretched in one direction. At best, for the games that don't let you stretch one direction independently of the other, you're going to have to deal with a double letterbox no matter how you orient your monitor if you want the correct ratio.

Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
What stand are you getting? Last time i checked desktop rotating stands for an 16:9/10 are quite pricy abig jump up from 4:3 stands. (i could only find one or 2 types anyway)evil_ash_xero wrote:Actually, I got that 16:9 display that he was talking about now. hehe i just checked the specs of my monitor which i wasnt that clued up on due to it coming with the PC but my 23" HP 2310i is a 16:9 i always thought it was a 16:10

Anyone care to take a quick look at my montor specs and tell me if my monitor is a piece of shit or not? http://www.computeruniverse.net/product ... DataHeader

Theres other aspects aswell that make a LCD good or bad for gaming but I dont know bugger all about those.

Well, at least in Tate the picture will be larger than in Yoko. It's like looking at a stamp with this 16:9 letterbox thing.StarCreator wrote:I don't think tate is going to exactly solve the problem - you're still going to have the issue where it's going to be stretched in one direction. Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
Thats the same stand i came across awhile back, unfortunatly I couldnt tell if it my 16:9 23" would be to big for the stand as the manufacters website states 24" inch which wil be a standard 4:3 size. Personally I think that 1st link youve posted advertising it as up to 30" might be incorrect. Ill have to look into the comments in hope someone else has used a widescreen 23" with it.
If not itll have to be the widescreen version which the manufacter states up to 30" which is where that other miss leading add got its 30" from http://www.techstore.co.uk/details/prod ... ils/138074
Atm as ive got a 19" CRT aswell spending over £110 on a stand is well down my wish list

Re: ESPGaluda II and 16:10
If your monitor doesn't need to be particularly mobile you could use a wall mounted bracket that is going to be cheaper and more stable than a stand.
I've had one of these for my 28 inch ViewSonic for over a year now. It's absolutely rock solid (it comes with some serious weight fixing bolts and plugs) and has a really neat and tidy finish.
I installed this in my 'office'. My wife got the line, "It will save loads of desktop space", which is actually very true, given the size and ugliness of the ViewSonic stand. But this low lag tate-able goodnes means I can be coding one minute, then blasting through Ketsui the next
