Well, as far as I know it's counterstoppable at 10 billion, so you might want to look into that. The original score is really high, though, it will probably be harder to improve.

From watching the two counterstop replays from the leaderboard, I'd say that I would hit about 9 billion max, but you never know what could happen.

Improving some, but I'm just making silly mistakes on every run, on this I missed the stage 5 extend again... and I really need to do all of stage 5 without losing a life.

Nice improvement! Also, that first place dude is probably the one who holds the current WR in Ikaruga's Hard mode.

1.5 - X360 - Original - Reco
Aquas - 337,557,501 - ALL (Lx3) - Abnormal

I've been grinding at Abnormal Reco trying to crack 340mil but deaths in Stage 5 keep messing me up. It's been a big hurdle for me

So I 1CC'd Mushihime Black Label Original again.
I did so much better this time it felt awesome, I got all the way to Larsa with No Misses, I should have beat her without dying but of course I was nervous. I ended with 3 lives left. Damn I want to see the TLB!
Anyway.. my score was 388 million something, with Reco...is that good?

I'd say it's probably average for starting out. Take advantage of scoring more adequetly and you'll bag a 600M score... seldom drop your counter and NO-miss most of the game, 600M+ up to 800M. Above 800M you're going to have to look at raping the top of the screen to get all the worthy auras/gems and taking advantage of being close to big enemies so they shed gems as well. In my eyes it's a memorizer heavy battle. Check out one of the 1bil+ replays and you'll see what I mean. Not really my idea of great fun, sitting at the top of the screen... but, I haven't really ventured there myself.

1.5 - X360 - Original - Reco
BurgerKingDiamond - 175,000,000 - 5 - Normal

(I rounded the score because I already turned off my xbox for the night)

Holy shit. I just set my new personal best.
I was freaking out, I made it about 90% (just a guess) through level 5 before my credit ran out. I was in the zone, that I always want to find, but rarely ever do. This is only the second time I've made it past 100 mil. I had 2 lives going into LV5 and no bombs. Strangely I think this helped me because there were spots where I normally would have been scared shitless and panic bombed my way out, but I had no choice but to find a way through. I wish I could get these kind of runs more frequently, because I feel crazy right now. Ahahahahahahahahah

Btw, how hard is Futari considered in comparison to other CAVE games? I ask because I've played most of them, but this is the only one that I've ever gotten to the second extend on (well once in DDP, but I had a meltdown right after and the run was crap). I think it's because the scoring system doesn't get in the way of dodging bullets, which seems to be the problem with the rest of them for me (besides DDP, which is just plain hard).

I read on an earlier page that the second boss can be milked for 100 mil points. How is this? when I play bosses I usually just use the strong shot (while I wear down the phase of the boss) because you move slower and it's easier to dodge, then I make sure that when the phase is nearly done that I switch to the correct shot type when I actually destroy it so that I get the big gems.

I guess that I am missing intermediate scoring oppurtunities between the explosions at the end of each phase. Would somebody explain? Also any milking strategies for other bosses would be appreciated. Or just a link would do. Thanks.

I think that person was referring to Maniac mode which has some intense boss milking techniques for that amount of points. I don't know the details to achieve that.

In Original mode, however, the best you can do is just destroy each phase of the boss when they have the most bullets on the screen and with the right shot type of course.

As far as the difficulty, all the different modes have any difficulty you could ask for. Original mode is fairly do-able but scoring well is a whole 'nother matter. *cough* NO MISSING THE WHOLE GAME I WILL DO IT! I WILL DO IT! GAAAAAAH!!*cough*

Ok. that's what I thought. I was stumped as to how I could be missing 100 mil points, on that boss. I don't remember why I thought he was talking about Original.

Destroy the rooftop at the top of the last pass downwards without bombing it and it appears right there to pick up. For further reference, it's the rooftop before the last (huge) flying dragon enemy.

YAY, just got my first shmups board #1! 8)

Version 1.5 - X360 - Maniac - Reco
Schrodinger's Cat - 574,724,153 - Stage 5 (Boss) - Normal

I probably would have broken 600 million points had I not severely screwed up the 40-60 million point scoring opportunity during the stage 4 boss fight. Luckily the stage 2 boss is not raping me every time anymore! A lot more scoring practice for the second half of stage 5 would help a lot too...

Let's see if I could reach 700 million....

Black Label - X360 - Original
Sapz - 625,121,911 - ALL (Lx1) - Reco

Messed up the third and fourth stages so badly.

EDIT: Black Label - X360 - Original
Sapz - 715,520,068 - ALL (Lx2) - Reco

Still needs improvement! Could have been higher if I didn't start dying randomly all over the place in Stage 5.

Black Label - X360 - God
Sapz - 1,510,854,868 - ALL (Lx1) - Reco

By far and away the best run of this game I've had. Actually had two spare lives at the end of Larsa, but suicided for that endgame bonus. :) Will upload a replay shortly.

Edit so as not to spam up the thread:

Black Label - X360 - Maniac
Sapz - 480,387,915 - ALL (Lx1) - Reco

Huh, seems the God mode practice has made me better at Maniac. Lots of room to improve on this yet.

Thanks, moozooh. :P The replay is here if anyone's interested in watching: stages 1 and 2, stage 3, stage 4, stage 5.

And another score:

Black Label - X360 - Maniac
Sapz - 581,459,903 - ALL (Lx0) - Reco

Larsa performance was awful (three deaths...), but still quite happy with this score. First time nabbing a #1 spot, too. :D Might try and push it further, though, I'm sure I could hit 650m especially if I finish with some spare lives.

Well, you've definitely made this mode look easier than it is. Really nice Larsa fight, though! I love how you don't get killed with bombs in stock. :P
