Noob question.

Post by raigon50 »

I guess this is the best place to post this?...
I feel kinda dumb for having to ask, but can some one explain the whole team things you guys got going on in your signatures? I know it has to do with the shmupmeets, but I want to know more about it.

FAIL. It has to do with the online Shmup competition aka the great depression of hurt feelings.

Search on STGT. They are teams from STGT.

What now? I'm not very familiar with these sort of things.
(God I'm hating myself for sounding like a total idiot...)

It's the annual tournament we hold around here - this year's ended several weeks ago. We organize ourselves into teams before competition starts, and some display team logos in their signatures - most people only do so while the event is going on, but others keep them longer.

Now I'm interested. I'd like to join a team sometime then.

Keep an eye out in the late summer/early fall of next year, that's usually around the time things start happening on that front.

I think the people who don't have team signatures were part of teams that did decently this latest STGT! (ShooTing Games Tournament, or Selected Topics in Graph Theory perhaps)

My problem would be the fact that even though I love shmups and play them all the time, I'm not the best player (I mean, I'm not the worst by far, but...) In terms of Touhou, I'm about Normal difficulty, if that means anything... And I don't think I've ever really played a shmup for score?...

It's a very open, no-pressure kind of tournament. As are high score tables in general around here. :) Plenty of people (myself included) participate despite not setting the leaderboards on fire.

The past few are listed at the bottom of the HS forum index, to give you an idea.

That's good to know, thnx.
Looking at the list, I'm not seeing any Scion. Maybe something for next time?

True that.
I'mma gonna keep mine for a little while longer. even if I would like some thing a little more spiffy, you know with colour in it and what not. I would still like to put the initials of the team in it. But, the hottness I would like, I can't seem to resize without distorting it too much.

Looks like it should be for Team Zombie Jail Bait, right?
So, I'll probably use this.

I think I got it down to the right size. Anyways, STGT was fun, can't really say I enjoyed the games that we played though, mostly 'cause I did mediocre. Dangun Feveron can eat a big sack of kittens. Wait.. No, I mean dicks, a big sack of dicks. I really was excited to play though, and hope to be in next years also.

Heh. I didn't realize they were team tags until about a month after I made mine a few years ago.

What does it take to make a team anyways?

You can either get players together or just come up with a name and post in the registration thread with team status as open and let other people join it.
Feedback will set you free.
