Wow, good month for classics. I'm really happy that volume 2 for Fist of the North Star actually got released; I had my doubts for a while.

Now I just need a rerelease of City Hunter.

Yes, you speak the truth. I pretty much am awesome. I bought the GS Mikami SFC game a couple years ago. Haven't played it a whole lot, but it seems to be a solid platformer, similar to the Valis series. Ironically, this past year I had started downloading fansubs for GS Mikami because the game had piqued my interest. Now that it's coming out on DVD, I'll have to buy it eventually if I like the fansubs. For me, watching fansubs actually increases my anime purchasing, contrary to the argument that says that fansubs are killing the anime industry. Now that the local anime industry is in the decline, it's kinda more like the way it used to be in the early '90s when we'd get sub-only releases. It is so great to see classic anime getting sub-only releases: Dirty Pair, Hokuto no Ken, GS Mikami, and I'm still waiting for volume 3 of Dairugger XV (Vehicle Voltron) which should be shipping sometime soon (it's on backorder). There was one company a few years ago who were putting out sub-only DVDs of classic anime, and I picked up Orguss in its entirety. They're no longer around though, so I never got Cat's Eye.

Speaking of Dirty Pair, I once had a dream that there was a beautiful 2 player, side-scrolling plaformer Dirty Pair game for the Super Famicom. It was a detailed dream, and I even remember the animated intro title sequence too. Sadly, there is a Dirty Pair platformer for the Famicom Disk System, but it's ugly and it's no fun. That was just one of many Super Famicom-related dreams---once I had a dream about a Bubblegum Crisis-themed pinball SFC game too. But no, I don't cuddle my SNES when I sleep or anything. Maybe I'll have my wife help me make a felt one though.

I had a dream about a Bubblegum Crisis-themed pinball SFC game too.

Did it have three ball multi with no slowdown? If so, it would be so awesome if it was real. As far as I know, the pinball games on SNES all have 2 ball multi. I know that is the case with the Kaze pinballs. I'm not sure if that's the case with Jaki Crush. Super Pinball Behind the Mask is awesome, though.

I plan to pick up GS Mikami for SFC eventually. I already have my SNES modded and some SFC imports and the game looks very fun.

I have this, but after playing both it and Devil's Crush on TG16, somehow the gameplay of the TG16 one is more satisfying, in spite of its graphical deficiencies.

Super Pinball Behind the Mask is awesome, though.

Yeah, seeing all of these releases with subtitles and original Japanese language is quite nice. It's a shame so much classic anime is dubbed only.

That Dirty Pair game for the SFC would make me cream my pants. I wish I had sweet dreams like that. The other night I actually had a sexual dream with Mamiya from Fist of the North Star, but that's not cool at all, just...too nerdy. I told my manager at work and now he thinks less of me. -1

Check out Mamono Hunter Youko (a.k.a. Devil Hunter Yohko), oldboys. It's a bit long in the tooth now (the animations haven't aged particulary well), but I enjoyed it quite recently (gets better after the first episode and isn't very long). Liked that Marilyn Monroe style character development.

The main one for the month that excites me is Fist part 2, but my fiance is buying Mikami and Dirty Pair TV, so I'll end up watching all of them eventually.

And yes, I'm damn glad that more classics are still coming out.
