Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary Edition Wii

Post by evil_ash_xero »

As you know, this is coming to the U.S. and Europe. But I didn't start this thread for info really.

I wanted to bitch about how I can't believe Nintendo is releasing Super Mario All-Stars for 30 bucks! What the hell? I mean, it's the same freaking game as the SNES version. I never thought they would release it on VC, since it would eat up the sales of the original games...but i'm still astounded at this.

Hell, it doesn't even have Mario World or Yoshi's Island. It's just plain ol' SMAS. They could have at least spruced up the graphics.
Thank god for injecting.

Screw you, Nintendo!

Ironically a lot of us feel like the replaced art bastardized the charm of the original games to begin with. 'specially with SMB2 using an identical tileset with SMB1.

Maybe the day has passed for the likes of Super Mario DX and its ilk. This is still better than the $40 piecemeal offerings of the series on the GBA.

Eh, the care cat is dead.

Addendum:

Personally I don't like art overhauls. Add a black outline to sprites, maybe add a couple extra colors to them here and there, and you've overhauled an nes game. Much rather all that money went to ADDING to the original game. Do I need 16 shades of blue for Mario's buttcheeks? No. Do I need 4 to 10 extra classes to choose from in my Dragon Warrior 3 game? I think I really do.
PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

If N$ put a turd in it, people would still buy it.
It´s very tempting to get upset because you wished it were something else.
I on the other hand am upset with people buying bad games.
Buying bad games will result in more bad games being made because eh, they will be bought by the same idiots.

Um, that $30 nets you the game, a soundtrack cd and an art/history book. Sounds like a pretty fair deal to me.

I dunno i think the OST and the art book can be a lot of tagged on shit if you ask me. I know a lot of people will never even touch these if they bought the game. A lot of people dont even read manuals. I know i dont for a lot of games

I do like manuals! I do read them eventually usually not on the day of purchase though.

Last time I checked, the Mario titles weren't turds.

It's not like Nintendo to be lazy with a retail console release but I guess they need to boost their statement to make up for their Wii woes. I really expected that Nintendo would announce they enhanced the visuals a bit (or included the original versions at least) so it's certainly been a disappointment. I wonder if their $20 off promotion for Super Mario Galaxy 2 worked since these 2 games are going for the same price (although like Shigeru Miyamoto said, 2D Mario sells way better than 3D Mario).

I have Super Mario All-Stars (who doesn't) and the battery still worked last time I checked months back but I'll be getting this version too. I figure supporting the classics isn't a bad idea. But honestly, I still think Super Mario World is the best of the classic Mario titles.

More crap laying around the house vs. more game time ... more crap laying around the house wins!

My thoughts exactly. It's 2,200 yen for the game, art book and soundtrack. Art book is actually full colour but it's manual sized, and the soundtrack only consists of random tracks from various games.

So they've repackaged All-Stars and marketed it to the Wii, and it sold 300k a week or so ago. It's definitely All-stars, as people have pointed out some glitches which are only present from the SNES version. Here's a vid of someone booting up and playing the game, note how it's practically identical to All-stars: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12502355

The kicker is that all the games are already available on the Virtual Console.

Is it me or I'm really sick of tired of Mario and all of his games? Blind fans will still buy it regardless, and will try to say it is a good purchase.

The compilation should be updated with Vs. Super Mario Bros. Arcade & Yoshi's Island. As far as game content, a verbatim port of SMAS isn't enough. It's not that hard for Nintendo to throw another couple titles in especially for $30.

Nintendo should consider releasing a Virtual Console Unplugged series, with 8-10 VC games a disc.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I can beat Stage 6-3 of Super Mario Vs. Does that make me a pimp y/n?
