Looking for - House of the Dead 4!!!

Post by JBC »

I live in McComb, Ms which is 80 miles south of Jackson and about 100 above New Orleans. I'm willing to travel up to 200 miles just to play House of the Dead 4!!! If anyone has spotted one around this area please let me know. Even if you aren't near and know of a location for this rare game go ahead and post it, it'd be nice to have a source for known locations of this machine.

Also, i'm taking a trip to Charleston, SC this upcoming weekend so if anyone has seen one around there help me out :p

Thanks,

I played it last february....and was very let down!

I thought 3 looked and played better. As fun as duel-wielding uzi's is, it couldn't save the game for me.

To be fair, I am a zombie fanatic, and even I couldn't get into this.

Played maybe 3 credits on it and spent the rest of the weekend playing Razing Storm.

My advice, find Razing Storm instead.

Even if it sucks I'm still a HotD fanatic and I'm totally sick of waiting on them to never release a console version >.<
I've really only read good things about the game until now though and all the videos make it look like good fun ^.^

Wish I could help you we have a lot in Michigan but I'm not familiar with your area. Do you have a Dave and Busters or game works near you?

http://www.daveandbusters.com/locations/default.aspx
http://www.gameworks.com/index.php?tId=1&sId=14

Check these out.

If you can reach Florida I can guarantee ton's of them.

I love this game with a passion I hope you can find one.

While we're on the subject does anyone know where the closest 2 Spicy Cabinet is to Detroit?

Edit:You can always call D and B or GW to check if that particular location has it.

The normal edition is very flat and uninspired. The special edition on the other hand was fucking awesome. Got to give it a try at the GameWorks in Chicago last March and my mind was blown. Two 100" projection screen, strap-in 360-degree rotating seat, rumble and air jets to simulate impacts, it completely changes how the game is played. Well worth the $4 credits.

4 dollars? Does the machine give you a blowjob and something to drink? That's insane. I'll take my Hotd4 75 cent(still too much) little screen thank you very much.

It is a $60,000 cab. I don't think the $4 charge is unreasonable. Definitely not something you play every day, but it was well worth the detour.

Agreed. Give them credit for something that goes beyond the usual, to offer something you can't replicate at home. If I'm ever down there, I'll give it a try. Or two.

I haven't seen Namco try something this extraordinary- Deadstorm Pirates (around $14575) sounds cool but the cabinet doesn't rotate. I wouldn't mind seeing a "Razing Storm Special" XL size attraction, with some of the plot and locations based on the PS3 story mode (i.e. Almeda Penitentiary & Lixeira) .
Kinect? KIN NOT.

No one has given him any useful info, just critiqued the game. He hasn't even had a chance to judge for himself.

Nobody goes to any Arcades in the south eastern United States, come on.

Well that's because he's basically fucked. If one of us actually knew a location then we'd have told him by now. Instead he's getting commentary that will hopefully spurn him to expand his search radius.

200 miles isn't a big enough expand for you? You have got to be on welfare. Nobody earning their income would be willing to spend that amount in fuel just to play HotD4. Or even recommend it, for that matter.

Right, because nobody ever simply enjoyed taking a short trip just for fun.

The OP mentions that he would--at maximum, travel 200 miles. Obviously not a short trip if it's his maximum, and 200 miles is not a short trip in any sense.

It's a few hours drive. People do that to go see a football game and go back home.

I think assuming that one could make a day, or even a weekend of it.. mixing in some other fun activities is a much safer leap than assuming he's on welfare.

Didn't say anything about the OP being on welfare.

Come to think of it, pretty sure we have HotD4 but if it was anything like 3, I don't want to touch it.

First of all I am gainfully employed and I don't take kindly to being accused of being a leach on the system just because I'm willing to spend a little money and travel.

Second, I drove 800 KM (~500 miles) to play HOTD4 Special Edition. If you really want something then you have to be willing to do what it takes. In my case I managed to make it a stop on a trip I was already making. Great distance covered, but not overly far out of my way. Ultimately it comes down to: Desire to play HOTD4 + Expense you're willing to incur + ability to achieve your goal. If the drive is going to be longer than 200 miles than you either need to be willing to drive further or you need to drop the idea.

Third, if you think 200 miles is a long drive then you're probably someone who A: Doesn't own a car, B: Is completely broke, or C: Has never lived outside a city. I drove 360 miles last weekend just to have lunch with a friend. Hell when I used to live in Ottawa I'd drive 225 km (~140 miles) to Montreal at random for a smoked meat sandwich.

Fourth, this is community composed almost entirely of people who have spend way to much money on things most normal people would consider trivial. I fail to see how this kind of travel is any different. The bottom line is that arcades are rare, arcades with games that aren't either brand new or retro are even rarer. HOTD4 falls into that wonderful hard to find area and if the OP wants to play it then he's going to probably have to travel. But as brentsg said, make a weekend out of it and suddenly it's not so bad. It's not like all the HOTD4's are going to disappear in the next year.

200miles is a long way?

I do almost 200km(124.274238miles) just going to and from work in a week.....

on a bicycle.

At the beginning of October I rode 150km in one day with the missus to go visit my father for thanksgiving.

You need to get out more Elixir....and as I have said in the past, the meds your doctor gives you don't work if you don't take them.

Although, in fairness to Elixir, he is from an island country the size of Colorado, with a population smaller than most large western citys.

Distances are different when you live on a very large landmass.

For the OP, I can confirm that, at least last February, the Dave and Buster's in Niagara Falls has the standard normal sized HOTD4.

The same location had 2(!) of the super huge Razing Storm cabs.

iirc, Strike Bowling across the street had one too. In fact, Strike Bowling had the much better line up of games, and even had some really great 'older' games, where Dave and Busters just has the newest, biggest driving sims and stuff.

They had an almost mint hotd1 cab, they had a nice crazy taxi sitdown. They seemed to have a lot of the bigger games and names from 5-10 years ago, but in great shape. All the monitors were nice and dialed in too. You could tell they had a tech on staff that cared. Obviously they also had all the new dumb driving sims(need for speed etc.) and redemption games, but it was nice to see an area for the games I remember from years past(90's stuff mainly).

It was cheaper than Dave and Buster's too, especially the older games, which were mostly single credits.

The newer stuff was quite a bit though at both locations. Razing Storm was 9 credits per play!!

The little arcade connected to the sheraton had time crisis 4 as well.

Oddly enough, I couldnt find a single fighting game in the whole city! And there is like 4-5 arcades!

Let me know if you do want to make a weekend out there. It would be fun! The missus and I spent the whole weekend(our 10 year anniversary) at the arcades pretty much.

Dont go in February though; its brutal cold, everything is covered in ice from the mist off the falls and quite a few of the non-chain shops/restaurants are closed for the winter.

Whoa, wait, what? Since when is driving to a place you want to go "wasting" gas? Geeze, I better refrain from driving the next time I want to go to Taco Bell-even though I have food at home-because I need to be conscious of environmental issues. Wasting gas is sitting in your drive way in neutral with a concrete brick on your gas pedal; not driving somewhere you want to go. Silly America.

Who cares how long he has to drive? He made the money, the trip, and the experience for himself.

I say do what you bloody well want to, and drive as long as it takes if you want to do it! Everything is relative for this sort of thing. Hell, I'd drive 1,000km if I found out Jim Varney got resurrected.

Yeah this is Ontario. Big expanse of nothing. 360 miles is only like 2 towns over. Hell a round trip to Jonny's place is about 120 mi. Besides there's lots of trees in between to suck up the carbon the damn hippies seem to be so upset about.

Since it looks like we're running out of it and pollution is fucking the whole planet up. Do you live behind the moon?

And sorry, but downplaying this issue as a thing only hippies are or should be concerned about doesn't help anyone. I'm not saying I'm a saint, far from it, but there's a difference between using your car to make a big shopping trip or seeing a friend who lives a long way away (taking into consideration the US is fucking huge) and driving hundreds of miles to get a steak or play a game of House of the Dead.

We're not going to agree on this, of course, but I don't see why it shouldn't be pointed out that wasting a scarce natural resource like this is a bad thing to do.

I never said this was a "hippie" matter. Theoretically I do live behind the moon occasionally, yeah, since the earth spins and space and stuff.

I'm pretty sure an "important drive", like I said before, is very, very relative. How is "seeing a friend" or a "big shopping trip" universally important compared to playing the video game you really want to play. If driving ONE TIME to go play House of the Dead 4 is just the biggest jerk-that-hates-the-environment move ever, then how is owning a computer and using electricity to read the off-topic for your own personal need not evil? Instead of LOOKING FOR G, you could be outside right now, making a difference.

This is too silly. He just wants to play House of the Dead.

It shouldn't be pointed out because it's not relevant to the conversation. We're talking about finding House of the Dead 4 and the conversation has kind of gotten side tracked into willing travel to experience it, But no one here wants to have a debate about the environment and one trip to have dinner with a good friend I only see a few times a year is hardly a justified catalyst to start demonizing me. I'm not saying it isn't a debate worth having and if you'd like to start a new thread about it by all means do so, but this is neither the time nor place.

Now that being said can we stop this and get back to the topic at hand which is where to find HOTD4 in NA, preferably (though unlikely) close to the OP?

Yeah, I feel guilty at traveling back and forth every day but you can't deny that the automobile has helped people out immensely. In the future, let's all just assume the other guy has an electric car.

500 miles is a long dang way though. I drove myself 240 miles recently to Cleveland for a weekend of mock trial...felt like forever on the road. Had the benefit of the Ohio Turnpike on the way out too. (Despite being something of a "pinko green" normally I refused to ride along in a van, carpooling ain't great either...just one of my quirks.) I'll be doing something similar later this week, going the other direction to Illinois State.

200 Miles is ~321KM so it's not a short distance by anyone's measure!

It's going to be an ~3 hour trip one way. Depends how fast you drive obviously.

You may be better off trying to make a weekend out of it or something in a city that you know has HOTD4 and other games.

A little time passed, and with my LARGE soda cup empty I got up to get a refill. (free movies, free soda...OH YEAH!!!)

As I approached the soda machine, I began to wonder why the theater was deserted. Maybe they had all gone one break? Nervousness began to wash over me, as I thought how the cops would show up and arrest us for trespassing or some sort-
I turned to my right and looked out the window, arrest now being the last of my worries. Coming out of the darkness were multitudes of people. But I knew they weren't people, there was no mistaking it. ZOMBIES.

For a moment I stood frozen, as if my mind could not completely grasp the situation. The torn flesh. The dead eyes. Stumbling and shambling as they approached their next meal. Could the glass hold them? Where there any zombies by the emergency exits? There thoughts and more raced through my mind, panic building up, despair rising...

One thought brought me back. Head. Aim for the head! It was the voice of my father. How long had it been since I had thought of him? I made a mental note to send him a postcard in the faraway land that he was. After that, it was only action. I grabbed my Uzi, and started to fire. The sound of gunfire and death filled the theater.

If you asked me to recall what had happened, I would say I do not know. I can barely remember anything. It was all a blur and once I found the grenades it was complete chaos. How many hours had passed? What had happened to all my quarters? It didn't matter at this point. My mom and sister where alive, and so was I. As we made our way out of the theater, I turned around and fired my Uzi for the last time. Neatly written with the bulllets I had fired were three letters: ABT. My initials. We left the movie theater and never looked back.

It was a pretty good game.
