Turns out the glamourous Skykid will be in town for Thursday night.

Me and Chi will be too, and hopefully Dan76, Taylor, MX7 and a few others... you coming hzt? I'll give Rupert H a nudge too.

Pretty much a minimeet if you all turn up!

It's a pleasure, glad it got some use and thanks for meeting me at short notice to return it :D It'll make the punters at R3PLAY happy, I reckon!

(I tested it when I got home, and it survived being stuffed unceremoniously into my backpack :P)

Bit bummed that I ended up being in such a rush that I couldn't stay and chill wit'choo, but next time I'll come down for a sesh! :D

Nice to meet you hzt, and really good to catch up with the rest of you guys too! It was a proper little sesh and good fun. Spadgy, leave Shock Troopers in there man, just get the guy to turn the volume up - I want to hear that D&B from Goodge st station.

Really fun stuff, DOJ FTW. :)

Last night was great wasn't it? A nice little meet. Dan76, MX7 and Rupert H are in trouble for not coming, but it was really fun to see the rest of you.

So, Fighting Hawk has gone, and has been replaced by Viper Phase 1 (New Version). Strikers 1945 Plus is back too (sorry Skykid - no more Shock Troopers), and depending on if the monitor holds out, vanilla strikers 1945 might be in by now.

Thanks so much to the very generous Skykid, not only for lugging a tonne of my stuff up to London, but for giving me an incredible gift. In fact - I owe you feed back for my purchases - I'll do those now.

DOJ is just amazing - I'm so glad we have that in the arcade. I finally hit 20 million, but I have a long way to go to rival Skykid - awesome skills there man!

Definitely was fun to see all you guys again. I owe CHI a big PM which I mustn't forget.

I never really played DOJ much before, I remember being trapped in bullet walls about 10 times in Stage 3 and just giving up ages ago. But playing in shitty Casino with a rubbish stick that doesn't reset neutral because it's so full of gunk and randomly adds left inputs... suddenly made it much more attractive.

I hope that stick does get better someday, it was the most annoying thing, well apart from the other stick that is in the cab which Mushi used to be in...

I don't really like DOJ, or Viper Phase 1 :( don't think I'll be coming down until next year anyway.

Hehe, I played it after they 'fixed' it. Didn't make you randomly veer to the left but it still felt like you were using a gearstick :P

Yeah it's rubbish. I still had trouble with the stick not wanting to return to neutral a couple times - definitely not the way to experience the game (which is all kinds of awesome, promise!)

Hey - Chuck Yeager broke the speed of sound for the first time in a plane that had to have it's cockpit hatch shut with a piece of broom handle. We can rise to the challenge!

It may not have been good after it got cleaned up, but it definitely felt a lot better. Although it did seem to have gotten worse already when I went down Friday morning...

Didn't stop me from getting to stage 3 though - and being treated to the amusing sight of my terrible score at the top of the scoreboard, as obviously I was the first person who'd played it that day.

Nice one! Thanks mate.

Great to randomly bump into both CHI and Skykid on Saturday afternoon/early evening.

And who was the mystery player who came in with a female friend and played through a bit of Progear? If you;re reading this, say hello next time, and come along one Thursday night!

Sorry for the lack of attendance fellows. I'm still in the middle of an epic house move which is eating into every spare evening I have. I'd love to find some time to come in and get violated by Dai-ou-jou on a forthcoming Thursday though.

Water and coffee are getting me through. Being an idiot male I'm obviously shunning medicine. It's nothing bad - just a wimpy cold – but traveling through central London is definitely off the cards!

I was down a earlier, didn't see anyone else but I did see the engineer with the control panel off the cab DOJ's in and some bits of stick around him. I totally forgot to ask what he was doing when I left but could it be that he was fixing it?

This Thursday night meet up of shmupping sounds pretty cool, I'd be in for that if there is one next week.
I'm a Cave whore so would love to play some DOJ, although if the game of choice changes I will give it a shot.
I am fairly average but maybe I can watch and learn !

Hi everyone, I've just moved to London and have been hunting for decent arcades here. I found out about Casino from this thread and it's quickly become my favourite, mainly because of the quality Shmups on offer, but it's also nice to get more than one credit for a quid.

Spadgy, I think the mystery player you mentioned a while ago might be me? I usually go on weekends and play Progear, and one of my female friends tags along sometimes. Anyway, I'd love to come to the next meet if that's OK, hopefully someone can show me a good strategy for beating the stage 4 boss in Progear. :)

Yes - welcome, and please do join us! The more the better!

I'm afraid, though, that I can't do this week as I'm in Canada. I'm going to try at meet up with Alien Soldier and King Buzzo here in Montréal so as to take the tradition elsewhere! CHI and some others might be in town though.

I'll be back next week for sure though, so count me in! We'll try and get as many people down as we can. All the usual suspects - pop it in your diaries Dan, Rupert H, hzt, mr_monks (if you're still alive!), Taylor, ravid, MX7, JDE, ReLik and the rest of you! Thursday 18th sound good?

And sorry you got left on your lonesome CHI! That should never happen!

I'll be down from 7 onwards this evening, if anyone wants to say hi then I'm the guy wearing fingerless gloves while playing.
Not because I feel the need for extra grip or anything daft like that I must point out, but because my circulation is rubbish:
my hands are literally purple if I'm not wearing gloves unless it's extremely hot.
