Guinness used to be one of my favorite beers before my taste really developed. The only reason I had it in the house was because I bought it to cook with and today I just didn't feel like walking to get a different 6 pack to drink.
CMoon wrote:I'm sitting here, not drunk, drinking a beer I made that's only 6%. Why the hell did I make a beer that's only 6%???!!!
Though 6% kinda pushes the boundary of the term, I'm a fan of session beers. That's pretty much all I brew.

I'm out tonight. Going to town with a young lady just trying my best to get out the friend zone (I think its like 50/50 something will happen tonight) Anyway Iam going to throw some alchol in the mix

We getting on the Strawberry cider (brothers brand) and I think were hitting a tequila bar possibley some other little places too. There is a great little bar called Santa chiputos in Liverpool which makes the most amazying cocktails and they have very healthy measures on the drinks. They have mint growing on the front of the bar and some other stuff too which they use to make the drinks with. A few mates work there so we get some good deals and ocasionaly shots thrown at us.

Not only does my 5% stout eat children, it also braises a mean pork shoulder and makes some fucking legit gravy.

Well, I'm not saying a lower alcohol beer can't have great flavor, but it seems most of the boring beers have lower alcohol content. The thing is, I made this indian brown ale blind, not recalling whether I much cared for it or not. I think I'm mostly an IPA, Stout and Barley Wine Ale kind of guy.

Ah, a good Wee-Heavy is a true delicious beast!

5-6% is good for me, when it comes to Pale Ales and IPAs especially. The higher strength Belgian styles really are my favorite to savor.
I've had a couple of 'extreme' beers from North America. Some of Rogue's Double IPAs and a double Red Ale. I still need my taste buds to adapt to the sheer maltiness.

I'm resting today. Two huge nights in a row and I'm really feeling crook today.

Going to a party for the first time in ages; one that will most likely be mediocre. Hopefully bad choices will be made. Bringing a flask full of Evan Williams. I shall return later.

We'd see more interesting session beers if people would stop being obsessed with the bigger is better mentality. I like big beers too but that shit can be just as pedestrian and boring as a mediocre pilsner, especially when that seems to be what craft brewers focus on. I'd rather see another San Diego Session Ale than yet another imperial IPA because there are already a fucking shitload of great imperials.

Six shots of Jack on the job, plus Chimay for dinner with more beer and drinking Stella right now. A fun evening!

YOUR OPINION IS DIFFERENT THAN MINE!!!!    (why don't we have a :RAGE: emote?)

Man, as long as it is tasty, I'm down with it. I'm not feeling the 'too many great' beer syndrome yet (been drinking a lot of N0gne 0 from Norway lately), but what can I say. I like huge malt and hop profiles. When session beers taste fucking great, I will drink them. I've had that San Diego Session Ale and it wasn't what I was looking for. Seriously, my any-day beer is a strong (but not imperial) IPA--huge, biting hops. For an inexpensive beer, Sierra Nevada's Torpedo is surprisingly good.

It's not there are too many great beers, it's that there's a imbalance that favors high gravity, high alcohol beers, which is also another reason I brew my own. The market clearly favors big beers, just look at how skewed the ratings are on BA, and the reason why you find that most of the session beers boring is because few breweries experiment with them. I'm not shitting on your preference, just stating a fact.

Been hungover for two days. Having a hard time breathing. Went to the aforementioned party with a flask of whiskey. Blacked out and wound up home thanks to an old co-worker buddy. Had to walk to work the next day a couple of miles, still drunk. Slept in the back on a piece of carpet padding. Supposedly smashed my forehead on a kitchen counter, smashed beer cans, got into a fight with a friends lady, asked a girl if I could kiss her, freaked out and ran outside, resulting in I think getting kicked out of the party. Told a guy I didn't want to live anymore. Threw up massive amounts. Don't remember any of this. Hungover for two days is the worst. Everything is surreal, still. I think I will stop drinking for awhile.

I think a lot of drinkers have episodes like that, I know I had my share in high school and college. Honestly, it has sounded like you've been drinking because you're depressed and that's never a good idea.

Aye, yeah, I don't think I'll stop drinking, per se, but I don't plan on getting that wasted again. Definitely going to chill it out for awhile and give my body a break  I enjoy watching anime and action movies drunk way too much to quit.

Try keeping it down to 1 drink every hour and a half or so.

No more drugs.

Except for psilocybin, which I will use on the occasional spirit hike in the Cascades or Sierra's.

Is that when you see double rainbows?

I'm not particularly interested in any drugs short of beer, but backpacking in the sierras had made me consider pot on the grounds that it weighs virtually nothing (especially compared to bringing a flask of whiskey along). Not to hijack this thread with prop 19 bullshit, but it would be cool to go down to REI and buy an ultra-light gravity-bong for my framepack :P

Just get off the liquor and you'll be ok. Short of drinking 6 or 7 9% beers, unless you're shotgunning cans or doing beer bongs you'll have a hard time getting black out drunk on beer. A six pack of PBR is like $3 and will get you good and drunk.

Brownies are the way to go, especially for walks and hikes because they come on slow.

Mesh control and I are coming clean(er)?

Yeah, I would drink beer, but it makes me way too full and phat.

I never black out when I'm at home watching anime and action movies, so I think if I just chill that down to "on occasion" life will be grood.

My cat likes to get right in front of the monitor and just sit down and watch me type. I can't see what I am typing right now because a cat is in my way.

We decided a couple months back that this is really the "I'm fucked up thread", because many other souls have stumbled in here while on other things than alcohol. If only we could change the topic title...
