Gaming Bolt's Massive Flowchart of Every RPG Ever

Post by njiska »

A brilliant and absolutely massive flow chart of the general plot progression of ever RPG. Well at least the stereotypical Japanese ones.

That's originally from the most recent Game Informer issue - I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me chuckle in spots, though.

If you ever see a save point deep in a dungeon, expect to fight the boss in the next room. After you beat him, a shortcut will open that will take you to the entrance. For some reason you can't use this shortcut to skip the whole dungeon and go straight to the boss.

Also, if it's the beginning of the game and the main character leaves town for some reason, expect it to be under attack when he returns. Often parents will be killed in this event, so the teenage hero can travel the whole world without worrying about being home for dinner.

Also, if the love interest is carrying a particular item that's especially important to her, expect it to be the key to saving the world.

I could go on forever lol.

At least in Suikodens once in a blue moon you get to invade the village where everything started.
The rear gate is closed down
The way out is cut off
