What´s your favorite shmup´s ship design ?

I like vintage aircraft generally. Zeros are sweet, Typhoons, Spitfires, ME109's. Hell, I didn't even start on biplanes. Flying Shark!

I like the look of Progear due to all the 20's/30's style aircraft.

Actually solid choices all around.

I've seen a Stearman (biplane) pretty close up, neat little plane. P-40 ought to get some more love as well (Flying Tigers flew them I believe). The Garegga planes are pretty sweet. Can't remember what Progear's stuff looks like in-game but the demo cutscene was nice. NMK / Jaleco did some nifty side-view art too.

None of this beats a dude in a boat though. (He doesn't even have to row, awesome!)

X-36 in Strikers 1999 is great too.
Transforms into a mech when you bomb, looks damn fine in both forms.

The incredible thing is that the Flying Pancake's estimated performance actually surpassed conventional fighters of the period. Thing could top 500mph, in fact, and if jet engines hadn't become reliable so quickly it would've been a sign of things to come. Completely real plane, too.

X-36 is also an amazing plane, it's a rare instance that a proof-of-concept aircraft actually outperform its expecations.

I like the F-23 Blackwidow II, but the F-22 Raptor is also a nice choice.

I'm personally a fan of low-observable 'stealthy' aircraft design. It's a shame most shmups even today do not incorporate this into ship design.

As far as actual ship mechanics go, it's hands-down Deltasword from DDP. Straight shot and high speed are my best. Also looks cool, but as I said before, not exactly stealthy.

Say, why are there like, no superplays of Deltasword in DDP DFK? If there is one I'd like to see it...
