Man barricades self inside Roseville Galleria Mall Gamestop
I was watching TV this morning and was casually flipping through the channels when I set it on Channel 10 News. There was a breaking news story about reports of a guy aged between 23-26 whom entered the Roseville Galleria Mall about 10:15am this morning acting all strange and wearing a backpack. He proceeded upstairs to the second floor of the mall and entered the Gamestop store inside saying incomprensible shit. He orderd everybody including all Gamestop employees & customers out of the store and barricaded himself there. Keep in mind that this Galleria mall is a whopping 400,000 square footage of mall retail space -- which meant that the Roseville law enforcement really wasn't adequately enough and had to call for extra backup help including fire truck crews, four ambulances, a bomb squad team, a hostage crisis team and a SWAT team to get this situation under control.
A fire is set inside the Gamestop store by the barricaded man and all hell breaks loose. The fire crews can't intially go inside the mall due to the guy's backpack being left behind after he is intially captured and arrested. The fire was put out by the mall's fire sprinkler sysytem which resulted in extensive flooding inside the Gamestop store and the entire first floor of the mall -- intilal news reports were showning video footage of water up to an inch thick just pouring out of the mall's entrance. There was speculation that the mall would be reopened for business tomorrow but that really isn't the case in this situation -- just fucking unreal.
The EOD team was called to locate the guy's backpack and determine if any incidenary devices were in there -- access to a robot & an X-ray machine were at the EOD's disposal to determine if it was safe to enter the Gamestop premises. If the coast was clear, then the fire crews were given the ok to enter the mall and get to the main source of the fire.

Guess he was tired of those bastards not giving him any straight answers on the upcoming new Battletoads game.

That could be one possible motive for the guy's unusal behavior that set him off. ^_~

"[His mother] said she told her son to move out of the family house several months ago because he was old enough to live on his own. Since then, he had been rotating among family members.

"Man" seems too generous - kid looks like he's 13.
I retract the Battletoads theory. Probably a Call of Doodoos fan.
(Call of Doodies slash Cthulhu might be an outstanding game concept.)

This is why Gamestop doesn't carry older systems anymore. If he had access to a stash of cartridges and nice square NES systems he could have bricked up a real barricade and been in there for weeks.
