Sonic Fan Remix, that is.

Took a while to download, the important stuff:

* Couldn't get it to run at 60fps in any combo of resolution or detail
* Everything else about it makes Segas efforts ever since Sonic CD look pathetic, the whole thing is awesome.
I think the game just takes a pretty large amount of resources to run well. I was able to run it at 1920x1080 on the highest detail settings without a hitch. But of course, I'm on a Core 2 Quad Q6600 with a Radeon 4890.

Sega must be shitting their pants from Sonic Fan Remix... it's absolutely amazing, even as just a 3 act demo. Just a bit over-detailed, it gets hard to see stuff sometimes with all the clutter.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Ok that was pretty awesome except for one thing. It's blurry as all hell when moving at high speeds. Made the action kind of hard to follow.

That's slower than my machine - maybe it just doesn't like the Quadro card.

SFR is beautiful, and plays properly, but I found it to be too "busy", and I couldn't really tell what was going on. Less would be more, in this situation.

Yeah, I think toning down the backgrounds and getting rid of foreground effects entirely would help.

As it is though, it's still great.

Yeah, there is way too much going on, especially for a fast-moving game like Sonic. I guess they figured that unless they smooshed as many details and frills as they could, there wouldn't be any point in remaking the still very good-looking Genesis games - too bad it doesn't work like that and they should have taken that as a hint. That said, it definitely serves its purpose, which is rubbing it in the faces of the incompetents Sega has working on the series. Also - needs a homing attack.
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

Even though I think it's way too busy looking, it does blow my mind that one guy made a game that is this damn good looking. I mean, REALLY impressive.
